But Ma Han was Gu Mingqi's man and was very tight-lipped. He raised his eyes, cut the braised beef in his hand with a dagger, threw it in front of Xu Jian, and said, "These are things that you shouldn't ask about, so don't ask."
The atmosphere inside the inn grew tense and awkward. The bed in the hut was hard and damp, as if someone had just thrown a layer of water on it. Liu padded the bed with a bundle of clothes and asked Old Madam Qin to sit down. Qin Xiangnuan, carrying the heavy shackles, peeked out through the crack in the hut's door.
Apart from Ma Han, there were a few other people in the official post station who seemed to be in the same group as them.
What on earth was Gu Mingqi trying to do here? She narrowed her eyes and suddenly heard a knock on the door. "Deliver the meal," the official said unkindly, pushing a tray through the crack in the door. Qin Xiangnuan frowned as she looked at the bowls of porridge with rice grains floating in them. She brought them to her lips and sniffed gently, sensing a faint scent: the smell of medicine.
"Drink quickly."
The official staff outside the door saw Qin Xiangnuan paused and couldn't help urging, "Who is Qin Xiangnuan? Come out with us, the master has something to ask you!" After Qin Xiangnuan finished drinking the rice porridge, he immediately came in and wanted to take Qin Xiangnuan away.
