Chapter 505: No Secret

Chapter 505: No Secret

Jiang Lin's anger had almost dissipated along the way, but he didn't understand where the Ninth Prince got his confidence from, and he looked unhappy because he couldn't figure it out.

Moreover, the Ninth Prince mentioned the issue of his identity, which made Jiang Lin feel depressed and could not be resolved for the time being.

"Jiang Lin, can I come in?" Qin Xiangnuan shouted outside the door when Jiang Lin was in a mess.

"Okay." Jiang Lin replied without any hesitation.

When Qin Xiangnuan pushed the door open, she saw a table full of messy papers.

Jiang Lin only noticed this at this moment and hurriedly tidied it up.

Qin Xiangnuan walked over, glanced at Jiang Lin, then reached out to help, and also saw the ghostly scribbles on the paper.

That just showed Jiang Lin's inner restlessness when he was writing.

"I didn't reach an agreement with the Ninth Prince." Jiang Lin said with his head down.

"I understand." Qin Xiangnuan said, "We had anticipated this outcome."

The paper in Jiang Lin's hand remained still for a moment, but perhaps it was just an illusion, because the desk soon became tidy.

"Our next step is to find out who the Ninth Prince is collaborating with," Jiang Lin said. "I've already arranged for someone to monitor his every move. As long as he passes on a message to someone else, we'll know."

Qin Xiangnuan nodded, but they all knew that this was not as easy as it sounded.

If the Ninth Prince was so easily exposed, they wouldn't have found him only after he revealed himself. "What is the Emperor's current situation?" Qin Xiangnuan asked.

Jiang Lin's pause this time was much more obvious, and Qin Xiangnuan saw that he seemed to be hesitant to speak.

"But the situation is not good?" After Qin Xiangnuan asked, she realized that she had asked a nonsense question and couldn't help but sneer.

Jiang Lin's eyes flickered as he said to Qin Xiangnuan, "He can still eat, drink, and attend court. The Ninth Prince has no intention of killing him recently."

"That will give us time to investigate thoroughly." Qin Xiangnuan said with a smile on her lips.

Jiang Lin looked at Qin Xiangnuan's relaxed smile, and felt a little conflicted about whether he should say something.

Jiang Lin's embarrassment made Qin Xiangnuan raise an eyebrow and asked him, "But what's inconvenient to say?"

"No." Jiang Lin shook his head, raised his eyes and stared at Qin Xiangnuan motionlessly.

Qin Xiangnuan accepted his gaze openly, but when she saw the growing worry on Jiang Lin's brow, Qin Xiangnuan's raised brows slowly frowned.

Jiang Lin clearly looked like he had something to say but didn't know how to say it, but he denied Qin Xiangnuan's words.

Since Jiang Lin wanted to say something but didn't know how to start, Qin Xiangnuan could only try to induce him. Perhaps one of his words would touch upon the issue that made Jiang Lin so embarrassed.

But in the end, it wasn't Qin Xiangnuan who figured it out.

But after Qin Xiangnuan failed to speak up several times, Jiang Lin didn't want to be so shy anymore and told Qin Xiangnuan directly.

I thought Qin Xiangnuan would be shocked, but she wasn't.

"Have you guessed it a long time ago?" Jiang Lin asked her doubtfully.

Qin Xiangnuan shook her head. "I've never thought about it this way. But now that you've told me this, I don't feel surprised. Instead, I think it's just the way it should be."

Jiang Lin opened his mouth and lowered his eyes, feeling a little depressed. Did he look like that selfish emperor?

"Is this what you have been hiding from me all this time?" Qin Xiangnuan suddenly remembered something and asked Jiang Lin.

Jiang Lin was puzzled, then thought about Qin Xiangnuan's words and nodded.

When the two of them first decided to be together, Jiang Lin had only concealed this one thing. So, now there were no secrets between them and they could be completely honest with each other.

This realization made Jiang Lin feel a little happy, and he suddenly felt light-hearted.

Qin Xiangnuan felt the atmosphere was relaxed, but she didn't know why.

But no matter why, Qin Xiangnuan felt happy that Jiang Lin was no longer gloomy.

"The Ninth Prince mentioned this matter to you today?" Qin Xiangnuan thought about it for a moment and knew why Jiang Lin told her about this.

Jiang Lin frowned unconsciously when he mentioned this. "I don't know where he got this information from, but it implies that apart from Xiaoyao Marquis Mansion and the Emperor, everyone else should have been silenced long ago."

Qin Xiangnuan naturally knew what Jiang Lin meant. For such a big thing, silencing him was the most common action.

However, Qin Xiangnuan laughed and said, "There is no such thing as an impenetrable wall in the world, and there are always fools. However, the Ninth Prince was able to find someone who had known about this for so many years, so it is obvious that someone was helping him."

After hearing this, Jiang Lin suddenly had an idea, "I can follow this clue to find someone related to the Ninth Prince."

Qin Xiangnuan frowned when she heard that.

"What's wrong?" Jiang Lin asked puzzledly.

"If we start investigating this matter, it will soon be known to more people, and your situation will become very embarrassing." Qin Xiangnuan said.

Jiang Lin's eyes flashed, and then he laughed at himself, "So what? I'm not the one who's most embarrassed anyway, so I shouldn't be the first one to get anxious."

This is true, but Qin Xiangnuan can still feel a bit of Jiang Lin's pain.

Qin Xiangnuan looked at Jiang Lin seriously, "Don't be afraid, I will always be with you."

No matter when or to whom such words are applied, the comforting feeling they bring is inevitable.

How could Jiang Lin be an exception? After Qin Xiangnuan finished speaking, Jiang Lin immediately lowered his head, and then nodded solemnly.

"I will ask people to check on the people involved back then. There must be some survivors. I won't let any palace maids or eunuchs go unpunished." Jiang Lin spoke quickly, as if this could calm him down.

Qin Xiangnuan added without noticing, "And your biological mother's family also needs to..."

As she spoke, Qin Xiangnuan's voice suddenly fell off. She still had a question she hadn't asked.

Jiang Lin naturally noticed her pause and slowly raised his head. Before Qin Xiangnuan asked any questions, he gave her the answer directly, "I still don't know who my mother is."

Qin Xiangnuan was stunned for a moment, then nodded nonchalantly.

"It seems that perhaps the Ninth Prince knows about it." Qin Xiangnuan said.

Jiang Lin also understood the reason. If there was a survivor from that year, it was most likely that he was in Jiang Lin's mother's home.

Since the emperor was able to send Jiang Lin to the Xiaoyao Marquis's mansion to be raised, it means that he has no resentment towards his mother, so he may not kill all his family members.

"Now there is still a question." Jiang Lin said.

Qin Xiangnuan raised her chin towards him and listened attentively.

"Did the Ninth Prince find out about me on his own or did someone tell him?" Jiang Lin was puzzled.
