Chapter 79: Verbal Provocation

Chapter 79: Verbal Provocation

"Given your physical condition, you want to go to the border? Don't be afraid that you will be back in a few days."

When the court was dismissed, Gu Mingqi blocked Jiang Lin's way, looked at him with a sidelong glance, and said with a hint of sarcasm in his tone, "Don't think I don't know what you are planning, but I advise you to give up the idea as soon as possible and go back to being your free and easy prince. The affairs of the court are not something you can interfere with. If you always want to squeeze in, be careful that you may lose your life!" Gu Mingqi moved closer to Jiang Lin and threatened in a low voice.

Jiang Lin smiled faintly, took a step back, and patted the falling raindrops on his shoulders with a look of disgust on his face.

"Thank you for your advice, Seventh Prince. I'd like to say the same thing to you. His Majesty is in good health and will likely be able to sit firmly in the court for ten or twenty years. If your thoughts are ever revealed, His Majesty will be furious. I'm sure the Seventh Prince knows the consequences. I heard that many people tried to stop and assassinate the General on his way to exile. Who sent them? I'm sure they have tokens on them to prove their mistake."

Jiang Lin looked at Gu Mingqi's ugly face, raised his hand and patted his shoulder, and said in a cold tone, "Those who do evil will eventually perish. I advise the Seventh Prince to leave a way out for himself. Who can predict what will happen in the future?" After that, he left the palace. Gu Mingqi stared at his back, and angrily threw away the servant who was supporting him, gritting his teeth and cursing, "What a thing!"

"Just because the emperor loves him, he really thinks he's a royal relative, a descendant of the royal family? He actually came to warn me!" Gu Mingqi's eyes widened, looking viciously at the staff around him, "How did he know about the general's mansion? Can you use your brains before doing things? Be more clean and stop causing trouble for me!"

The staff listened to his words, feeling distressed, but could only nod and say, "I will pay attention to it in the future."

"Damn it, Jiang Lin! He'd better die on the border." An idea came to Gu Mingqi's mind. He waved to his staff and whispered a few words to him. Gu Mingqi seemed to have imagined something, and a smile appeared on his lips, and his mood improved a lot. He looked back at the high palace walls, and couldn't help but mutter to himself, "Ten years? Within three to five years, I will definitely move in!"

The carriage's wheels creaked across the bluestone pavement. An Feng looked at Jiang Lin and asked worriedly, "Master, you've spoken directly to the Seventh Prince. Isn't this a bit hasty?" Jiang Lin held the carrier pigeon in his hand, removed the secret letter from its leg, unfolded it, and read the message An Feng had sent back. He replied distractedly, "Everything is going according to plan."

Zi—a yellow and white cat darted out of the alley, and the driver stopped the horses, causing the carriage to become unstable. Jiang Lin's body swayed, and he happened to see what Anliu had written about Qin Xiangnuan. His expression was stunned, slightly surprised. Anfeng didn't know why, but just thought he was angry about the carriage. He lifted the curtain and told the driver, "Be careful! Watch the road."

"So that's what happened." Jiang Lin muttered to himself as he read the secret letter over and over, then chuckled. He seemed to be able to imagine Qin Xiangnuan's annoyance after learning the truth. The letter was long-winded and eloquent, but it was also very vivid. Jiang Lin seemed to be right next to them, but he was also curious about what happened in the cave. "When I get to the border, I will definitely ask Ading."

An Feng secretly observed Jiang Lin's expression, and curiously leaned over to read the words on the letter. But Jiang Lin beat him to it, throwing the secret letter into the charcoal brazier, and the flames burned it clean. An Feng touched the tip of his nose awkwardly and asked, changing the subject, "Master, when do we leave?" The gifts sent by His Majesty had arrived at the Marquis Xiaoyao's mansion that night. Looking at the gold, silver, treasures, silks and satins filling the yard, they were all flashy and useless things. Jiang Lin didn't care, just glanced at them and ordered them to be put into the warehouse.

"We will set out at dawn tomorrow and have all the secret guards wait outside the city gate for our rendezvous."

"Prepare food and rations, bedding, and warm clothing before going out. Travel light, and don't bring anything extra. Remember to ask for Dr. Bi, the imperial physician, to accompany you. He's old, so prepare a carriage for him, not a horse." Jiang Lin looked around the courtyard, feeling somewhat reluctant to leave the Prince's Mansion. An Feng received the instructions and immediately set about carrying them out. Jiang Lin stood in the courtyard, looking up at the full moon in the sky. "I think we'll see each other soon. I hope this time, you'll remember me as you said you would."

Jiang Lin lowered his head, touched the jade pendant in his arms, raised the corners of his lips, and smiled softly.

On Phoenix Mountain, Ading slept for more than a day and finally woke up. His first words were to Anliu, "I'm thirsty." Anliu hurriedly handed him the kettle and watched him drink the whole kettle of water. He opened his mouth to ask about his physical condition, but Ading blinked again and then added, "Master Liu, I'm hungry." Anliu swallowed the words back. According to Qin Xiangnuan's instructions, he was not allowed to eat meat or greasy food. He only brought two bowls of rice soup and fed him carefully.

After about half an hour, Ading finally stopped, burped contentedly, and his complexion had obviously improved a lot.

"You kid, are you pretending to be sick? I see you can stand up and run from the top of the mountain to the bottom without any effort." The secret guard beside him patted Ading's shoulder. The force was a little strong, and Ading couldn't stop coughing. This scared the secret guard so much that he quickly ran to the side and asked Qin Xiangnuan to come over to check. Qin Xiangnuan looked at the rice residue on Ading's mouth, took his pulse, and looked at the recovery of the wound. He said lightly, "It's okay, I just want to scare you. Don't do strenuous exercise. If you tear the affected area, you will be able to jump around again in a few months."

When Ading saw Qin Xiangnuan, he immediately struggled to sit up, calling out "benefactor".

Qin Xiangnuan's ears ached as she waved her hand, saying, "You're welcome. Anliu has already paid me for your consultation. If you want to thank someone, thank him." Her cryptic words made the secret guards wonder, casting curious glances at Anliu. Anliu felt like crying, deeply realizing Qin Xiangnuan's clever diversionary tactics.

"Miss Third! I seem to remember you holding something this thick and long in your hand in the cave. What was that?"

Ading scratched his head in confusion and tried to lift up his clothes to look at his stomach. "I remember you seemed to have sewn me up!"
