"Why are they queuing in front of the store if they're not queuing for food?"
"Who knows? I'm curious too. And look, the people in the store have put up the closing sign."
"Oh, it's true. The shops are all closed. They must be gathered here for something else."
As the queue grew longer, more and more curious people came.
An extroverted lady walked up to a young man who was about to queue up and asked him something with her quick eyes and hands.
"Hey, are you going to queue over there? I'd like to ask you why you're queuing here?"
Seeing that the other party was stunned, the old lady retracted her hand belatedly and said a little embarrassedly.
"Don't be afraid. I don't have bad intentions. I'm just worried that I might miss out on something good. Tell me the truth. Are there any bargains to be found here? Are they handing out free things? Or are there wealthy families offering free porridge or food?"
The young man paused, raised the corner of his mouth and said.
"Auntie, you're overthinking it. This is our staff meeting. Those in line are all from our company. It has nothing to do with outsiders."
"What is an employee? What is a company? What are you talking about, young man? Why don't I understand?"
"That's a new word. It's normal that you don't understand it, Auntie. Let me explain it to you and you'll understand. A company is similar to a business, and employees are hired workers. Those of us hired by the boss to help her work are called employees."
"Oh, so that's what you mean. Auntie, I understand."
The old lady stretched her neck to look around and couldn't help asking curiously.
"So many of these people are your boss's employees? Your business is pretty big, what does your boss do?"
"Our boss does a lot of business. The four shops you see in front of you are owned by him. Besides selling food and drinks, he also sells cosmetics, cloth, shoes, and maybe some other things, but I'm not sure about the details."
"Oh, one person has done so much business, your boss is really amazing. Auntie is asking you, do you know your boss's family situation? Does he have any unmarried young men or women? Can you help to connect them? My family..."
This lady was obviously attracted by her boss's family background and wanted to marry into his upper class.
Just when the middle-aged man didn't know how to refuse, his leader called him.
"Wang Wen, it's almost time, come here quickly, our sales team 5, come and line up here, I need to check the number of people!"
"Hey, here it comes!"
Wang Wen quickly responded and used this as an excuse to talk to the old lady.
"Auntie, my boss called me, I have to go over there quickly. Also, my boss's children are still young, so please don't have those messy thoughts."
"Hey! Don't go! Look at you, kid. Do you think I'm a monster?"
The old lady stood there sighing, stamping her feet and muttering to herself.
"To be able to build such a big business, she must be at least 40 or 50 years old. How can her child be so young? This guy must have said that on purpose because he was afraid that her family would marry into a wealthy family. This guy looked nice, but how could he be such a person? Pah!"
Wang Wen didn't realize that his patient answers would only make people resent him. He found his group's team, signed in with the leader, and then lined up at the end of the team.
It was very lively around and everyone was chatting excitedly.
Some people were talking about the funny things that happened when they were on business trips, some were talking about the weird clients they met, and of course more people were talking about how much money they earned after work and how happy they were because of this job.
Although he only knew the people in his own group and met most of the employees from other groups for the first time, he could still empathize with them and smoothly join in everyone's conversation.
"Brother, how much have you earned this year?"
"I've only been doing this for two months, and I don't make much, just over 30 taels. How are you doing, brother?"
"Hey, I make a bit more than you do. I've made over 50 taels. Our products are great, and it's easy to find clients. They're all vying for them. Commissions and bonuses make up the bulk of my earnings. Honestly, our company's commissions and bonuses are really high. They've made me feel a bit overwhelmed, and I don't even care about the base salary anymore."
"Yes, our boss is really willing to pay us. He pays us on time every month and never delays our wages. He also pays us bonuses and commissions without missing a penny. Sometimes he even gives us extra bonuses and prizes. I've never met such a good boss."
"That's right! Our boss is so good. I've decided to work with him for the rest of my life. It's only been two months, and my family already has enough money to build a house. If I keep working with him, I can't imagine how good our life will be in the future."
"Brother, we are all the same. My family is also going to build a house and we plan to start construction next spring."
"I heard there's a guy who was one of the first sales hires, and he's already made over a hundred taels of silver. I don't know if it's true, but if it is, he's going to be so lucky."
"It's true. I know that guy. He introduced me here. If he hadn't told me that I could definitely make money if I worked hard, I wouldn't have known there was such a great place."
"What a coincidence! I heard from a relative that I could earn more working here, so he recommended me to come here to work."
As they were talking, someone came over and asked.
"Have you heard? Besides the meeting and salary distribution, there seems to be something good going on."
"What good news?"
"I just heard about it, so I'd better not spread it around. If you guys really find out soon, it will be a great thing."
