Chapter 6: Space Changes
Yaobao is very calm.
After making sure that everyone in the room had seen everything strange about him, he stopped moving.
Quietly and calmly waiting for death.
Whether she was thrown out or sold to the laboratory, she would die.
She had never been to school or entered society. Since she was old enough to understand, she had been locked up in a cold glass room in a laboratory for research. All her knowledge came from the people in the laboratory.
The extreme pain caused her to close her five senses. She had never been loved or cared for by anyone, so she didn't know what those things were.
The only difference from before is that the people in this family now always smile when they see her, their eyes are gentle when they look at her, and their embrace is warm.
That's all.
"Ah, ah." The room was as silent as death. Yaobao was getting anxious waiting and made two ah-ah sounds to remind me to throw me out quickly.
It was very cold outside and she would soon freeze to death.
Old Mrs. Su was the first to come back to her senses. She lowered her head and met the child's dark and calm eyes, and her heart suddenly ached.
Those eyes were calm and indifferent, revealing the boredom and despair after experiencing many vicissitudes of life. It seemed as if they had anticipated their own ending, quietly waiting for the verdict and the result.
These are not the eyes a baby should have; they lack the purity and innocence of a baby.
A pair of eyes like this on a newborn baby looks weird and strange.
If it were an ordinary person, he would have been terrified.
But Old Lady Su only felt heartbroken, as if her heart was being tightly gripped by something, causing her so much pain that she could hardly breathe.
She held the baby tightly with her dry, rough hands, and gently pressed her cheek against the baby's face.
The old woman, who was used to speaking loudly, lowered her voice, her voice both harsh and warm, "Don't be afraid, little baby, grandma is here."
Yaobao's dark eyes moved.
After comforting her granddaughter, Old Lady Su raised her head again with a serious and stern expression. "These pears were brought back from the mountain by the second son. What do you think?"
Su Er shuddered and straightened his back. "Mom, I brought these pears back. I fell several times just to pick them!"
Su Da, "Mom, it was obviously me and the second brother who picked the pears together, why did you only hit me and not him?"
He Daxiang rubbed his hands and said in a silly voice, "When mother says go east, I never go west! Mother, I counted and there are nine pears in total. Xiaobao is too young to eat fruit now, so there are just enough for us to share one! Should I pick up the pears first? Such good pears will be wasted by leaving them on the ground!"
The tense atmosphere was broken by He Daxiang's words. Everyone first chuckled, and then laughed out loud.
Old Man Su put down his broom and walked over to his wife. He raised his hand to stroke his granddaughter's face, but when he saw his hands were covered in rough calluses, he retracted his hand. "Is our little treasure here to repay her kindness?—Ouch! Let go, old woman! The children are watching us! I didn't say anything, why did you hit me?"
Dad was pulled by his ear by his mother. Su Da, Su Er and others looked up at the sky, not daring to look.
So as to avoid getting into trouble with my father later.
The neighbors could vaguely hear some of the noise that happened in the Su family courtyard in the middle of the night, but they had no idea what the noise was about.
It was freezing cold, and after a fright during the day, the people who heard the noise wrapped themselves in the quilt, turned over, and continued to sleep. No one paid any attention.
As dawn approached, the Su family went back to catch up on some sleep, carrying a basket of pears. Before leaving, Mrs. Su lowered her head and touched her granddaughter's cheek, "My dear, don't do anything else in the future. Just focus on growing up well. This family has Grandpa and Grandma, your parents, and your second uncle and aunt. The adults will take care of everything, don't you understand?"
She spoke in a low voice, giving serious and solemn instructions.
She knew her little granddaughter could understand.
After she finished speaking, she looked up at her granddaughter's eyes. Sure enough, she saw some emotions in those eyes, a little bit of confusion and a little bit of doubt.
A smile appeared in the corners of Old Lady Su's eyes.
That's what a baby looks like.
The room became quiet again.
The cold wind howled outside, making strange noises as it blew past the windows and eaves.
In the room, two adults and one child looked at each other quietly.
After a while, Su Da stretched out a finger and carefully poked his daughter's naturally curled fist.
Seeing this, Liu Yuelan frowned and asked in a low voice, "What are you doing? Are you afraid of your own daughter? As a father, you are not even as good as my second brother and Daxiang!"
"Nonsense! Didn't you see how the second brother and his sister-in-law were walking so smoothly? They were just trying to save face. Besides, what am I afraid of? I just want to share my daughter's luck. Maybe I can wave something out of my hand later, which will be perfect for replenishing your body!"
"..." Liu Yuelan held her daughter and turned her back, blocking the man's gaze.
Su Da was anxious, "Wife, Yuelan, what are you doing? I'm really not afraid-"
"Feed!"
These two words stopped the man from speaking.
It was Xiaobao's turn to get anxious. The little kid's eyes widened, his lips were tightly pursed, and he waved his little fists non-stop, expressing his resistance with his whole body.
"Are you hungry, my dear? Come and eat."
Yaobao's little face flushed red and purple, "Ah, wow! Snap, snap!"
The man chuckled from behind, "Look at how anxious this little girl is, she must be very hungry. Yuelan, what do you think of our girl's background?"
"No matter where she comes from, she is my daughter."
"Of course, you carried her for ten months and gave birth to her. Who dares to say she's not our daughter? I'll beat his teeth out!"
The couple put their heads close together again, staring at their daughter who was eating with curiosity.
"Knowing that the family is running out of food, I will change food for them. What a good baby, I love him so much."
The whispering voices in my ears continued until Xiaobao finished feeding.
Xiaobao feels helpless because he can only eat but not speak with a mouth.
The people in this family are so weird. In the past, when she conjured up pears in front of her parents, they were so scared that they pushed her away and ran away. Why are her parents and grandparents different now?
He couldn't die for the time being, so Yaobao lay in his mother's arms with his eyes closed. His thoughts sank and he entered her space.
She hadn't been to that place for a long, long time. To her, it was the source of all her misery.
Yaobao hates space.
"Huh???" Looking at the magical place before his eyes, Xiaobao widened his eyes, showing a rare look of surprise and astonishment.
Before, her space was only as big as the room where her parents slept, and there was nothing in it except a pear tree.
But what appeared before her now was a vast plain.
The pear tree was still there, right in front of her. The branches were bent down by the pears hanging on the tree, and the fragrance was refreshing.
Not far from the pear tree was a winding, gurgling stream. Across the stream was a vegetable field that Yaobao had never seen before. There were vegetables growing on it that she didn't recognize, and they were lush and vibrant.
Green hills stretch out on the edge of the vegetable field, shrouded in white mist, with no end in sight.
Xiaobao fell down at the foot of the pear tree, his mouth open and his eyes blank.
How did the space get bigger? If it got this big, wouldn't her misery be infinitely greater than before?
Yaobao was sad and angry, and fled out of the space as if his butt was on fire.
She still has to think of a way and die quickly!
