Chapter 42: A Kiss Like a Storm Due to the Storybook...
Because the title of the storybook was too explosive, Yan Heng's father immediately asked his brother where he found it. When he learned that it was near the wall between the two houses, he called the wronged Yan Heng over and beat him up.
He was scolded for what he was looking at at such a young age. It would have been fine if he was looking at something harmless, but he was looking at such eye-sore things and even let his younger brother see it. How could he be a brother?
I never doubted Ji Yunchan at all.
Even Yan Heng himself did not doubt Ji Yunchan, and thought that it must be the property of some literate servant or maid in the family.
Ji Yunchan nodded heavily, without any order.
She naturally knew the aftermath of this incident, but she didn't dare to say anything at the time, so Ah Heng had to take the blame for her.
Time passed, and the drunkenness magnified her emotions. Her eyes were wet, as if she was about to burst into tears. Overwhelmed with guilt, she admitted her fault without hesitation: "I'm sorry, Ah Heng."
Yan Heng gritted his teeth and reached out to pinch her cheek: "I'll settle the score with you when you sober up."
Ji Yunchan frowned and pouted, not liking to be pinched by him.
Yan Heng then stopped. Thinking back to when they'd met at a banquet outside, Yuanyuan had a decent alcohol tolerance. Why was she drunk so quickly today? Had she not drunk in so long?
He wondered and turned the wine jar over to see what kind of wine she had used.
Then he saw the jar of liquor that his subordinates had sent to his home. It had a light smell but a strong aftertaste.
Yan Heng laughed and put down the wine jar. Seeing her hunched over the table, her eyelashes fluttering, he looked over at her curiously, finding her adorable. He reached out and scratched the tip of her nose: "You're really picky."
When she was drunk, her temper changed drastically, and she became even more coquettish than before. Yan Heng found it refreshing and touched her head again: "Don't wake up with a headache tomorrow, drunkard."
Ji Yunchan felt that he was touching her like a puppy, and she hid and retorted dissatisfiedly: "I'm awake."
This disobedient Ji Yunchan made Yan Heng recall the joy he had in deliberately provoking her in the past. He didn't want to annoy her, so he deliberately said, "Then come here and give me a hug."
Ji Yunchan's bright eyes formed crescents as she smiled at Yan Heng. She wanted to stand up, but sat back down again. She did not give up and leaned towards Yan Heng, holding onto the edge of the table.
Yan Heng saw how hard it was, so he went over and threw himself into her arms.
Ji Yunchan felt soft in his arms, her sleeves dropped to reveal a section of her arms. She climbed up his neck and kissed him without knowing how hard she was doing, and started to say sweet words: "I like Ah Heng so much."
Yan Heng's heart softened and he nuzzled her nose tenderly, not caring if she remembered or not. "Me too, I really like Yuanyuan. I've loved her since I was a kid."
Ji Yunchan smiled sweetly.
Seeing that it was almost time to sleep, Yan Heng picked her up and carried her to the bed. Ji Yunchan struggled and refused to cooperate, mumbling, "I haven't danced for you yet, put me down, put me down!"
Yan Heng had held her many times, but he had never known such a light person to be so slippery. He nearly dropped her. After much coaxing and persuasion, he finally got her to the bed, but she was still restless and struggled to get up.
"Stop making trouble, or you'll have a headache tomorrow." Yan Heng held the man down, but Ji Yunchan didn't appreciate it. She stared at him with her round eyes, and when he slightly withdrew his hand, she was ready to make another move.
As they struggled, the mattress wrinkled. Yan Heng spotted a small wooden box poking out from the crack in the bed. He grabbed Ji Yunchan's wrist and reached out to take it out.
Seeing this, Ji Yunchan stopped flapping her arms and stared straight at the long, rectangular box.
This piqued Yan Heng's interest. He deliberately shook the small box in front of Ji Yunchan and asked her with interest, "What's hidden in it?"
"I don't remember." Ji Yunchan turned her eyes away and said stubbornly.
Yan Heng sneered and teased, "If you don't remember, it's mine." He opened the box, but when he saw what was inside the box, the teasing look on his face suddenly fell.
It was a jade hairpin that was moist all over.
"It's mine." When Ji Yunchan heard his words, she thought he would not give it back to her, and she started struggling again.
Yan Heng ignored her, and the hand pinching her wrist unconsciously tightened. He spoke in a low voice and looked at her inquiringly: "Where did it come from?"
That was the gift he gave her as a coming-of-age gift, and it should have been confiscated during the house search.
"It hurts, you pinched me, let me go." Ji Yunchan frowned, as if she didn't understand why Yan Heng treated her like this.
Yan Heng belatedly let go, leaving a red mark on the slender white wrist. Ji Yunchan rubbed it herself, blew on it, and glared at him, her temper rising. "You clearly gave it to me, and you don't remember and you're blaming me."
He was completely unaware of the complicated emotions Yan Heng was feeling at the moment.
"I recognize it." He murmured softly.
How could he not recognize her? When she reached the age of 15, he had not yet worn a crown. Even though they had been engaged since childhood, seeing that there were so many men who wanted to marry her, Yan Heng only regretted that he could not grow up overnight.
And that hairpin is like a token of love.
Yan Heng lowered his eyes and slowly pulled Ji Yunchan into his arms. He buried his head in her shoulder and muttered to himself, "Yuanyuan, don't lie to me about this."
I will be sad and will be fooled willingly.
The person beneath him seemed to be infected by his emotions, and hugged him blankly, holding him silently. They held him tenderly for a long time, without moving.
It lasted so long that Yan Heng thought she was asleep.
"Ji Yunchan."
He called her sullenly.
No response.
Yan Heng propped himself up and saw her blinking at him but not responding, so he called out again, "Ji Yunchan?"
"Hmph." Ji Yunchan made a noise from her nose and looked unhappy.
"Ji Yunchan." Yan Heng's tenderness had not yet worn off. He called her and tried to touch his cheek to hers, but she dodged him.
Then the girl who had turned away angrily asked, "Why don't you call me Yuanyuan?"
Yan Heng felt even more adorable after hearing these words. He immediately pressed her into his arms again, calling her tenderly, "Yuanyuan."
Ji Yunchan was as carefree as a child at the moment, laughing and making noises as she pleased. When she heard that he had changed his tone, she immediately became happy again.
"Why do you still keep it?" Yan Heng asked in a low voice.
Having his property confiscated and exiled, he traveled thousands of miles, sleeping in the open air, and being exploited along the way. Yan Heng didn't dare to think about how difficult it must have been for him to protect this hairpin.
This was too difficult for a drunk person to answer. She mumbled "hmm..." for a moment, then said something nonsense: "Because I want to keep it."
Then he stretched out his hand and asked Yan Heng for it: "Give it back to me."
Yan Heng gave it to her.
The hairpin felt warm in his hand. Ji Yunchan took it and held it in his palms like a treasure.
Yan Heng looked at it, lowered his eyes and asked again: "Since you keep it, why don't you wear it?"
Ji Yunchan said "hmm..." for a while, then said vaguely: "Let me think about it..."
As I was thinking, I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
Yan Heng's attempts to trick her into giving him a single word failed, and he couldn't help but sigh. But knowing how much trouble she had taken to protect that hairpin, he couldn't contain the turmoil of emotions that welled up in his heart.
Yan Heng stared at her sleeping face for a moment, lost in thought, as if he had made a decision. He pulled the hairpin from her hand and returned it to the box in the crack between the bed boards. He stood up and walked to the bookshelf, took out a bracelet from the secret compartment, and then returned to sit in front of the bed.
He took her soft, boneless hand and put the bracelet on her wrist.
After doing all this, he went back to bed, held Ji Yunchan in his arms, and fell asleep peacefully.
The next day was New Year's Day, a day for family reunion. The Yan family was thousands of miles away in the capital, so the two of them had some free time and didn't have to get up early.
Because she drank some wine, when Ji Yunchan woke up, it was already noon.
She felt a slight pain in her forehead and was extremely thirsty. She opened her eyes and found Yan Heng was still sleeping.
He put one hand on her waist, his thick eyelashes covered her face, and his straight nose made his whole face look well-defined and fierce, even when he was asleep he looked like someone who was not to be messed with.
Ji Yunchan felt a surge of warmth in her heart. She gently traced Yan Heng's nose with her fingers and touched his cheek. Seeing that he was still asleep, she grew bolder and gently leaned forward and kissed the corner of Yan Heng's mouth.
Just as I was about to lie back down in my original position with satisfaction, I was pulled into his arms.
Ji Yunchan was caught off guard and screamed in surprise.
"Kiss me secretly?" Yan Heng opened his eyes sleepily and kissed her heavily, deliberately looking for trouble and not letting her speak, pecking her lips again and again.
"Husband...how...how..." Ji Yunchan was so disturbed that she couldn't utter a complete sentence. She had no choice but to turn her head and hide, "Why are you pretending to be asleep and scaring me?"
Yan Heng turned over and pressed her down, reaching out a hand to clamp her chin, not allowing her to move, and glared at her from top to bottom, "You are allowed to kiss me, but you won't let me kiss you, what's the logic behind this?"
Ji Yunchan smiled and stretched out her arms to put her arms around his neck. When her arms were halfway stretched out, she suddenly realized that there was something heavy on her wrist.
She looked over and saw that it was the bracelet she had worn since she was a child.
Before her exile, she had gone to great lengths to hide something, but she hadn't considered this bracelet at all. Logically, it should have been lost to the world long ago. She paused, her eyes lingering between the bracelet and Yan Heng, and she opened her mouth: "Heng, did you find this?"
"Yeah." Yan Heng nodded and admitted it readily.
The bracelet should have been on her wrist. Yan Heng looked at it and said casually, "Return it to its rightful owner."
Ji Yunchan retracted her arm and touched every inch of the bracelet's texture with her fingers. The past life seemed to be right in front of her because of the appearance of this old thing. Ji Yunchan was stunned for a moment.
"Thank you, my husband," she smiled, no longer reluctant to linger, and put her arms around Yan Heng's neck again, saying calmly, "After someone took it off my hand, I never thought I would see it again."
This seemed to stimulate Yan Heng, and he kissed her cheeks, eyelashes, and mouth like a storm, with the fear of losing and regaining. Ji Yunchan was infected by his emotions and hugged him cooperatively.
The gentle embrace relieved Yan Heng's fear.
He was holding a beautiful and tender girl in his arms, and his kisses gradually fell on her earlobes and neck.
