Chapter 17 The Most Luxurious Inn

Wen Xi and the others also hurried to eat.

I heard Gu Nan in front of me crying again:

"Mom, I'm hungry. I want to eat."

Mrs. Bai was given a headache by the noise. Seeing her son's face covered with snot and tears, she came to her senses in a daze.

When he opened the package sent by the butler, he saw only two padded jackets and a small package of about two or three hundred taels of silver and banknotes.

No food!

Seeing that everyone else has food to eat, but I have none. How little do my parents care about me? I guess these few things are not prepared by them personally!

Mrs. Bai had no choice but to put away the bag and pulled the rope in front of her. Then Mrs. Bai turned her slightly pale face and asked blankly:

"Mother? You called me?"

Bai said awkwardly:

"Why are you sitting there like an idiot? Have you eaten?"

Xiao Bai shook her head: "I can't eat it. I feel sick in my stomach."

"You can't not eat it, at least you have to eat what's in your stomach!"

"Well, I'll eat. By the way, mother, why did you call me just now?"

"Well, well, it's like this. The mansion might have been in a hurry to deliver the food, so they probably forgot to bring us some food. So..."

Xiao Bai came over quickly, turned around, took out a bag of snacks from her bag and handed it over:

"Mother, you and your brother can eat these. Don't let your brother go hungry."

It was not until night fell that we arrived at the so-called post station.

After everyone came in, the door was locked, indicating that no more guests would be accepted that day.

It is said that this is the most luxurious inn on this route of exile, because everyone can actually sleep on beds. Although there are no quilts, it is still surprising enough.

There is a large bunk bed for ten people.

Wen Xiniang and the others shared a room with the two maids who accompanied the bed, the fourth concubine's family, and the two young girls from the third branch of the Gu family.

Normally, we would just stroll around the garden, but today, after walking so much, we were already exhausted. As soon as we entered the house, everyone lay down on the bed and didn't move.

Wen Xi felt like her legs weren't her own. This wouldn't do; they would definitely swell up during the night.

Gritting his teeth, he forced himself to get up, stomped his numb feet, and said to Aunt Mao who was massaging Gu Shengnan's legs:

"Auntie, I'm going out for a while."

Wen Xi went straight to the backyard and saw several servants busy at work. She entered a smoky room and quickly put on a flattering smile.

Go up to the fire lady and say:

"Auntie, can you give me some hot water? I want to soak my family's feet."

The lady looked up and saw a little girl, wearing dirty prison clothes. She guessed that it must be the group of exiles who came today.

Although I am not a kind-hearted person and my life is extremely miserable, a little hot water can still be of some help.

"Okay, there's hot water in the pot, but there's no furniture. There are some wooden barrels in the stable to the east. If you don't mind, go get them!"

"Hey! Thank you, Auntie. I'll get it right away!"

Wen Xi ran to the stable and saw several wooden barrels stacked in the corner with some hay still in them. He picked up a relatively clean one and took it to the well to brush it.

The fire-making lady picked up the wooden ladle and scooped half a bucket, and said in embarrassment:

"Can you lift it? I'm stuck here and can't help you. Why don't you go back and call your parents over."

"No, no, Auntie, I can carry this little water. Thank you so much."

"It's okay, go ahead if you can! Stay away from people, or you'll be in trouble again."

"Oh, okay! Don't worry, I'm small and can run fast."

The old lady couldn't help but smile when she saw that the little girl was really sweet and clever.

If it weren't for my strong willpower, this half-baked knowledge would have really put a strain on my nine-year-old body.

After a long struggle, I finally made it back to the door. Looking at the high threshold, I realized I had reached my limit. I could only ask my aunt for help!

I peeked in and saw, where was everyone? Everyone in the room was asleep, even my younger brother. Where had my aunt gone?

"Xi'er...why are you standing here?"

When I turned around, I saw Aunt Mao walking towards me from behind.

"Auntie, I went to the kitchen to get some water. Let's soak our feet and relieve our fatigue. Why don't you lie down in the room?"

Aunt Mao took the bucket and whispered:

"Why don't you tell your aunt, so I can go and pick it up. You're just a little kid, what if you get hurt?"

"I'm going to go see if Xiangye has settled in. I'm afraid she might be reluctant to stay in a hotel to save money."

Wen Xi shook her sore arms, went into the room and gently patted her sleeping brother.
