Chapter 117: Have You Always Disliked Me?
Sang's Restaurant is one of the few high-rise buildings in the city. It has three floors and a U-shaped covered patio.
The first floor is mostly occupied by individual guests, while the second floor is mainly composed of private rooms. There are also tables and chairs in the circle near the patio, where you can eat and drink while enjoying the singing and dancing on the stage in the patio on the first floor.
The third floor is divided into four large private rooms for hosting small banquets, while all accommodation is located in the backyard.
As he passed by the lobby, Sang Yongjing took a quick look. The first floor was quite full, around 70% to 80%. The second floor, on the other hand, seemed a bit deserted, with only a few people sitting here and there.
In the kitchen, Chen Kang was busy directing his men to serve food and wine. Today was the first day the restaurant officially opened, and he couldn't neglect the guests.
There was a hint of sadness between his brows, but he hid it so well that no one could see it.
The waiter brought Sang Yongjing over and reported to him, "Manager Chen, someone is looking for you. I've brought the person here."
Chen Kang, who was very busy at the moment, suddenly got angry. If someone wanted to see him, he had to consider the time and the person, but he actually brought the person in directly?
"You..." He turned around and was about to scold him, but when he raised his eyes, he happened to meet Sang Yongjing's smiling face.
The anger on Chen Kang's face instantly disappeared without a trace. He was replaced with an expression of surprise and quickly stepped forward to salute: "Fourth Master, why are you here?"
Sang Yongjing had a good impression of him. He smiled and nodded to indicate that he didn't need to be polite: "I came to visit my second brother. Is he here?"
"The Second Master is drinking tea on the second floor. I'll take you there right away."
Chen Kang was about to take Sang Yongjing out when he said that, but he was stopped by him: "Well, you continue with your work, I will go find him myself."
He was not a fool. He could tell at a glance that it was very busy here. Everyone below was relying on Chen Kang's orders to do their work. If he left for a while rashly, the entire kitchen would be in chaos.
Anyway, the second floor is only that big, and he can definitely find Sang Yongnian by walking around it, so it doesn't matter if Chen Kang leads the way.
"Ah? Actually, I'm not that busy. I still have some time. I'd better go with you."
Chen Kang didn't expect him to refuse, and for a moment he didn't know whether he was refusing or what he really meant.
"No, no." Sang Yongjing waved his hand and ran back without paying any attention to him, leaving Chen Kang with a confused look on his face.
Back in the lobby, Sang Yongjing glanced around the second floor, but still didn't see any familiar figures. He frowned slightly, wondering where his second brother had gone.
After going up to the second floor and walking around for a long time, he finally found Sang Yongnian near a pillar.
"Hey, second brother!"
He quietly walked about two steps behind Sang Yongnian and suddenly shouted, but he did not see the expected scene of the other party being frightened by him.
Sang Yongnian slowly put down the teacup in his hand, picked up the teapot and poured a cup of tea into the teacup that had been heated and placed aside.
"Try it. The local black tea in Lingnan has a very different flavor from the one in Beijing."
He looked really boring like this. Sang Yongjing curled his lips and sat down beside him: "Second brother, have you seen me a long time ago?"
Sang Yongnian didn't answer his question, but asked, "Why did you come to see me today?"
"I met Chen Kang a few days ago and learned that my second brother had been ill for many days, so I thought of coming to see him. Today, seeing that he is fine, I am relieved."
After saying that, Sang Yongjing picked up the teacup, blew on it twice and drank it all. He was very thirsty after walking such a long way.
"Hey, this is top-quality black tea... Never mind." Seeing his crude look like a cow chewing on a peony, Sang Yongnian could only shake his head helplessly.
Sang Yongjing didn't think there was anything wrong with him. No matter whether it was good tea or bad tea, its biggest function was to be drunk by people.
He didn't consider himself a stranger at all. He poured himself another cup, then opened the cake he bought, picked up a piece and put it into his mouth.
"Well, this is delicious. When I go back, I will buy some more to take home. You can try it too, second brother. I bought it especially for you."
"..." I bought it specifically for him, so you just opened it and ate it? A string of curse words floated through Sang Yongnian's mind, and he pinched the root of his nose weakly.
"How are you guys doing? Is mom okay?"
When he learned from Chen Kang that Sang Yongjing and his colleagues made money by selling malt candy, he felt mixed emotions.
For a moment, I didn't know whether I should feel sad that my useless brother had finally grown up, or feel sorry for my mother who had to suffer with him.
"Life is good. We are building a house, and my mother is in good health. She can eat a big bowl of rice for every meal."
What Sang Yongjing said is absolutely true.
No one knows where Sang Yu learned her cooking skills, but she can make even the simplest ingredients extremely delicious. Everyone can't wait to eat some of them during meals.
The family, who had lost weight during their exile, have recently gained a little weight.
"That's good, that's good." Sang Yongnian nodded with relief. His younger brother might not be good at other things, but he would never tell lies. He felt more at ease with his words.
He picked up the unfolded package on the table, which contained only a few pastries that he claimed were bought specially for him, put them into his mouth and took a small bite.
The next second, he couldn't help coughing because of the pastry crumbs: "Cough cough..."
"Did you choke? Come on, drink some tea to calm yourself down." Sang Yongjing quickly poured him a cup of hot tea and brought it to his mouth.
"Puff--" The boiling hot tea entered his mouth and was sprayed out instantly. The coughing became more intense, and Sang Yongnian's eyes turned red due to the violent coughing.
After finally stopping his cough, Sang Yongnian calmed his breathing and looked at Sang Yongjing who seemed a little at a loss beside him.
Suddenly he asked, "Have you always disliked me and harbored hatred towards me?"
Otherwise, why would he try every possible means to kill him?
"Ah? What are you talking about, second brother? I saw you were choking, so I wanted to give you some water to calm you down. I forgot that the tea was freshly boiled."
Sang Yongjing's face was full of grievance, he really meant well.
"Alright, alright, just sit there quietly. I'm already upset, so don't make things worse for me." Sang Yongnian waved his hands helplessly.
"Second brother's restaurant business is so prosperous, why are you still upset? Could it be this illness...?"
Sang Yongnian hurriedly stopped him, fearing he would say something unpleasant. "Hey, stop! I'm just sick from traveling. I need to recover slowly. It's not a big deal. I'm worried about something else."
Is there something else going on? Sang Yongjing raised his eyebrows, suddenly remembering what Sang Yu said that morning, and asked abruptly, "Is the Sang family really short of money?"
"How do you know? Has the news spread?"
Sang Yongnian sat up in shock. Even his good-for-nothing brother knew about this. There were probably few people in Lingnan City who didn't know about it.
"No, no, second brother, calm down and stop coughing again." Sang Yongjing quickly supported him and added some water to the teacup in front of him.
Then he slowly said, "Yu'er told me this. I didn't believe it at first, but now seeing how Second Brother behaves, it seems I have no choice but to believe it."
