Chapter 12 Going to the City to Sell Mountain Products

"If you want to pick them, it's best to go in groups next time you go into the mountains. The poisonous snakes at the entrance were trying to ambush my third brother; it was quite dangerous back then."

Ruan Meng warned that if she wasn't there, and her third brother got bitten, he probably wouldn't be able to be rescued before dying from the poison.

The Song and Fan families looked tense. They had been startled before entering the house, but Ruan Yi welcomed them in and told them that the snake was dead, which put their minds at ease.

The two families were a little embarrassed and tentatively asked, "We don't know much about herbs or the dangers in the mountains..."

"I wonder if I could accompany Miss Ruan up the mountain in the future?"

They looked at Ruan Qian and Ruan Meng.

Ruan Qian did not readily agree, but instead looked at Ruan Meng.

Seeing Ruan Meng nod, Ruan Qian smiled and agreed.

Ruan Meng remembered how they had taken care of the original owner and her older brother on the way, which is why she agreed so readily.

"Then I'll call you guys next time I go into the mountains! But I have to make it clear beforehand that there are many dangers in the mountains, so the people you send up should be able to protect themselves."

Otherwise, she wouldn't even have time to take care of her own family, let alone have several more burdens.

While Ruan Meng was up the mountain, the two families collected some extra seafood, planning to go into town in the afternoon to check out the market and buy some daily necessities.

The three families agreed to meet together, and after dinner, they went into town together.

Although the eldest brother cut the sea cucumber into several pieces, his sister-in-law and two brothers refused to eat it because they heard that sea cucumber could nourish the body. The eldest brother had no choice but to eat it himself.

Although my second brother controlled the cooking time very well, seafood without seasoning was still too bland.

Even the delicious mantis shrimp was too bland.

Ruan Meng became even more determined to go into town in the afternoon and, besides containers, buy some seasonings.

After a simple meal, the eldest brother, Ruan Qian, went to Granny Liu's house to ask her what daily necessities she needed, so they could bring them back from the city.

Ruan Qian specifically emphasized that the wild boar was found in front of the old lady's door, and the rope used to tie it up was borrowed from Grandma Liu. She should rightfully receive a share of the money from the sale.

Ruan Qian told Granny Liu not to have any worries and to just ask for whatever she needed.

Otherwise, when they return, they will give the money to Granny Liu.

Grandma Liu, with a kind expression, quickly waved her hand, indicating that she didn't want money or anything else.

Her gaze passed over Ruan Qian and landed on Ruan Zheng, who was picking August flowers not far away.

Ruan Qian gave up, originally planning to wait at home, because the long journey back and forth between the city might be too much for his body...

Unexpectedly, with the help of her second brother Ruan Yi, Ruan Meng tied the wild boar to the bottom of the wheelbarrow, leaving the top of the wheelbarrow empty.

"Come on, big brother, sit here!"

Ruan Meng patted the cart hard.

Ruan Yi, who had been puzzled, suddenly brightened up. "Little sister, how did you come up with that? It's incredibly clever!"

Ruan Qian was somewhat tempted, but worried that his younger brothers would have a hard time pushing the stroller.

Ruan Meng noticed her brother's hesitation and explained, "Fortunately, there's not much at home, so there's no need for anyone to stay."

"The baskets were already going to be placed on the cart anyway, and you're just taking a ride, it's no trouble at all!"

For an adult male, is that just a side thing?

Ruan Qian didn't expose her, but when Ruan Zheng saw this, he simply lifted the wheelbarrow and nodded to his second brother.

"Second brother, you go upstairs, I'll push it for eldest brother to see!"

Ruan Yi immediately sat down. The ground was fairly flat, and Ruan Zheng pushed it up. It didn't seem to be too difficult.

Ruan Zheng looked at his elder brother, "On the way, we'll take turns pushing the cart, so don't worry, brother. We wouldn't feel comfortable leaving you alone at home, would we?"

"Sister-in-law, you must be tired from your journey. Let her go out and have some fun!"

Hearing the last sentence, Ruan Yi finally agreed, but made it clear beforehand, "If you get tired, I'll get off and walk by myself."

Ruan Meng made the final decision, "Okay! I'll listen to my older brother!"

Fearing wild animals might break into their home, they folded up their blankets and piled them on high ground, leaving a small amount of golden mushrooms. They also distributed a handful of the picked akebia quinata to each person, who ate them as they walked.

They packed the Ganoderma lucidum, the corpse of a poisonous snake, and the roots and leaves of the wild Rubus idaeus into a bamboo basket, placed it behind the eldest brother, and called on the Song and Fan families. The group walked for two hours before finally entering the city.

The city was bustling with activity, with cake shops, steamed bun shops, restaurants, taverns, and hotels lining the streets.

Fabric shops, clothing stores, general stores, blacksmith shops, etc., are not far apart, making it very convenient.

Just as Magistrate Deng had described, the busiest spot in the city was a long string of stalls set up in front of the temple.

The eldest brother had already gotten off the cart, and the third brother, Ruan Zheng, was preparing to push the wheelbarrow towards the long stall...

Ruan Meng suddenly called out, "Third Brother!"
