Chapter 108 Pei Dalang Wakes Up

She even wanted to go out and find Pei Yao on the street, but the three people in the hospital bed made it impossible for her to be in two places at once, so she waited for dawn while suffering and breaking down.

She didn't know where Pei Yao had gone, but she had heard Yao'er say that they were going to the mine in Luozi Village to rescue Manager Qian.

Yunniang guessed where Pei Yao and the others must have gone.

However, Yunniang was a weak woman who not only didn't know the way, but even if she got there, she probably wouldn't be able to help. Finding someone would be even more difficult. The only solution she could think of was to seek help from the local government.

Pei Yao called out to her, "Mother, I'm back."

Upon hearing Pei Yao's voice, Yunniang immediately turned around and almost burst into tears when she saw Pei Yao.

She rushed up and hugged Pei Yao tightly, her voice choked with emotion: "Yao'er, why did you only come back now? You scared your mother to death..." Yunniang dared not say the rest of the words, because she was too frightened.

Pei Yao was held tightly in her arms. She patted Yun Niang's back reassuringly and explained, "Mother, I wanted to come back to find you yesterday, but the city gates were closed, so I had to find an inn nearby to stay in."

Yunniang was still terrified when she heard this; she had been scared to death all night because she hadn't seen Pei Yao.

She had already lost Yao'er once, but thankfully Yao'er was alright, otherwise she wouldn't want to live anymore.

Pei Yao glanced at Shen Yu, who skipped past her and walked into the backyard of Tongrentang, and suddenly remembered something. She asked her mother, "Mother, are Uncle, Father, and Uncle Shen feeling better?"

Yunniang's emotions had calmed down a bit by now. She nodded at Pei Yao and said, "I'm much better. The doctor just went to check on me and said that I've made it through last night. I can stay for another day or two and then go home."

Pei Yao breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this, finally relieved that her life was no longer in danger.

Niu Qingshan watched the mother and daughter quietly from behind, not wanting to disturb them, and followed Shen Yu inside.

He noticed the dark circles under Yunniang's eyes and figured that she probably hadn't slept a wink all night taking care of the patient.

So he decided to find a doctor to get the medicine and have him decoct it in the backyard.

As soon as he asked Dr. Lin, who was seeing patients in the hall, Dr. Lin looked puzzled: "Didn't someone just come and take away the medicine for the guest in the leftmost room in the back courtyard?"

Niu Qingshan was also stunned for a moment. Could it be that Yunniang came to get it early in the morning?

Thinking this, Niu Qingshan asked, "Was it a lady who came to pick it up?"

Dr. Lin shook his head: "No, it's the boy who was injured earlier."

Dr. Lin was referring to Shen Yu, who had already taken the medicine when he came in and was currently lighting a fire in the backyard where the medicine was prepared.

Shen Yu didn't know how to start a fire, and he tried several times with a flint and steel without success. The two elderly women next to him couldn't bear to watch any longer.

“Young man, give me the flint, and I’ll teach you. You’ll never be able to light a fire if you keep doing this,” one of them couldn’t help but say.

Without hesitation, Shen Yu handed over the flint in his hand after hearing what the old woman said.

That old lady thought, "This young man is not only handsome, but he's also very obedient. He's a really good young man. He would be a perfect match for my daughter, Fatty, to become her live-in son-in-law."

However, they don't know if his foot, which makes him walk with a hopping gait, can be cured. Their chubby daughter would never marry a disabled man.

The other woman next to her, Aunt Zhou, had known her for so long that she knew all of Aunt Wang's little schemes perfectly well. At this moment, Aunt Wang's expression clearly showed the way she was looking at her son-in-law.

She couldn't help but mock Granny Wang: "Wang, you're probably thinking of finding another son-in-law for your fat girl again, aren't you?"

Aunt Zhou had seen Fatty before. That boy, no, that girl, was very robust-looking, weighing at least 200 pounds, but not very tall.

The girl was not only rugged in appearance, but also in temperament. Taking advantage of her large, muscular body, she bullied the men in the village quite a bit.

They would either block people under a big tree at the village entrance, preventing them from leaving, or they would casually pull a boy's hair. In short, they were so powerful that everyone in their village had to call their chubby daughter "Fat Brother."

The Wang family was completely unaware of this problem, and Aunt Wang was still thinking about finding a son-in-law to live with her daughter.

But within a ten-mile radius of their village, which boy hadn't been ravaged by their chubby girl? Putting aside what she looked like, no one dared to approach her because of her personality.

Aunt Wang ignored Aunt Zhou's sarcasm. Both of them were workers next to the clinic. Aunt Wang had come to take care of Pei Dalang and Shen Jing yesterday with the help of Yunniang.

With Wang Da Niang's help, Shen Yu quickly started a fire. He began to prepare the medicine step by step according to Doctor Lin's instructions. The medicines for Pei and Shen Jing were different, so Shen Yu prepared two separate medicine pots for decoction.

When Niu Qingshan came in, he saw Shen Yu decocting medicine. He remembered that Doctor Lin had said that a young boy had taken the medicine. It turned out to be Shen Yu. He clapped his hands and went over to help.

Pei Yao followed Yunniang inside to check on Pei Dalang and Pei Dalang. After the careful care they received last night, the three of them had indeed recovered quite a bit, and at least Pei Dalang was awake now.

When Pei Dalang woke up, he was still a little confused about his surroundings. Where was he? Wasn't he supposed to be waiting to die in an abandoned building in the mine?

The last scene before Pei Dalang fell into a coma was of the four of them being abandoned in an abandoned house behind the mine. All four were injured at the time. Shen Yu was the least injured, followed by Shen Jing and him. Pei Erlang was the first and most seriously injured.

He looked at the empty house and felt utterly hopeless. Pei Erlang was already on his deathbed and extremely weak.

Fortunately, a man named Manager Qian came and rescued them not long after.

The journey was arduous, and besides Zhang San, two of his miners accompanied them into the city.

Pei Dalang remained vigilant, as he didn't know this Manager Qian and couldn't be sure if he was a bad person.

He finally succumbed to his injuries and fell into a coma, only to open his eyes again to see the scene before him.

Pei Yao, who was the first to enter from outside, was also the first to notice that Pei Dalang had woken up.

“Yao’er…” Pei Dalang looked at the person in front of him in disbelief. It was none other than his little niece.

He rubbed his eyes in disbelief, then looked up again to make sure he wasn't seeing things.

Behind Pei Yao followed closely behind Yunniang, truly the family he had been longing for day and night...

"Yao'er, sister-in-law, it really is you, am I dreaming?" Overjoyed, Pei Dalang wanted to go and see Pei Yao, but he was so weak that he almost fell off the bed.
