episode 6

episode 6

"How many times have I told you not to buy food here?! Is this stuff even fit for human consumption? It's so dirty! What expensive snacks haven't you eaten at home? Don't you care about lowering your standards?!"

Well, this statement swept over everyone and everything on the street, including the dogs. Almost simultaneously, a group of low-class people frowned and glared unhappily at the source of the voice.

The woman, around thirty-five years old, with short curly hair and exquisite makeup, wore a light blue Chanel-style dress and carried a limited-edition designer handbag. With her arms crossed and a stern look on her face, she continued, "Don't let me see you running down this street again."

Just from what she said, I thought she had argued with her boyfriend about what to eat, and then got into a heated argument in the street.

But upon closer inspection, everyone realized that the person she was talking to was just a little girl who looked to be only seven or eight years old.

The little girl, with her hair tied in a high ponytail and a tense expression, clearly disagreed with the woman's words and retorted loudly, "But I think takoyaki is delicious! What does that have to do with whether it's expensive or not?"

"Tang Ruichu!"

The woman was furious, but she still retained some rationality. Finally, she remembered to lower her voice and say, "What do you know now? When you grow up, you'll realize how low-class this is! Do you know how hard it was for me to marry you off to a good family? Can you please stop embarrassing me in public!"

Although her volume was lower than before, she probably didn't realize that her unwitting shout had already attracted everyone's attention. So it was too late to mend her ways; lowering it was pointless, and everyone heard it clearly.

Soon, gossips began whispering, "Pah! She just hooked up with a rich guy..."

"Yeah, look at her..."

He Xun didn't react in any particular way. He just watched coldly for a few seconds before going to the plump aunt next door to get a bowl of red date and millet porridge and then leaving.

......

Halfway there, a male student on an electric bike was riding against traffic. He was wearing headphones, holding a mobile phone, and grinning. He didn't look where he was going and just kept rushing forward.

He Xun looked up and saw the rapidly rolling wheels. Suddenly, a loud 'buzz' erupted from the back of his head.

"Beep beep!—"

"Ah! Someone's been hit and killed at the intersection ahead!!!"

Suddenly, the sounds of rapid car horns and chaotic screams flooded He Xun's mind. Before his eyes appeared a mangled body, crushed in two by a car tire, with crimson blood flowing into a nearby sewer drain. A black backpack, still warm from the body, lay scattered beside the shattered limbs...

He was practically rooted to the spot, staring blankly at the wheels, unable to move.

"Young man! Are you waiting here to get hit by a car?!"

Just as the electric scooter was about to hit him, a kind-hearted middle-aged woman carrying a shopping basket quickly pulled He Xun away.

Due to inertia, He Xun staggered and crashed into the roadside railing with a thud.

The male student, oblivious to everything, sped past He Xun, completely unaware that he had almost caused a major disaster.

"These kids nowadays, really..."

The woman let go of his hand, sighed, slung her shopping basket over her shoulder, and rode away on her bicycle.

He Xun couldn't bother to scold the culprit or thank him. He could only brace himself against the railing by the roadside with one hand, close his eyes tightly, and try to get through this sudden yet strangely familiar panic.

After a while, a gentle breeze brushed his slightly pale cheeks, and his heartbeat gradually calmed down with the wind.

Suddenly, He Xun felt a chill on his arm. He looked down and touched it.

The white shirt I wore for the first time was indeed ripped by the rough railing.

*

By the time Mo Shilin noticed that He Xun had been gone for a long time, he had already finished a morning meeting.

He stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, his right hand with its distinct knuckles fiddling with a lighter. After thinking for a moment, he decided not to call anyone.

It wasn't that servants hadn't come to the company before, but he never cared what they did. He Xun wasn't that special.

He never liked being controlled since he was a child; he just pretended to be polite on the surface.

Besides, he's definitely not in a good mood right now.

But when asked why, he couldn't say. He could only vaguely sense that he had become irritated after that impetuous anchor came in and said a few words.

As he watched the blue flames leap into the air, Mo Shilin's expression grew increasingly cold and somber.

Suddenly, the office door was pushed open, followed by the sound of rapid breathing from running.

He turned around, and the face that had made him feel resistant was instantly obscured by He Xun in front of him.

He watched as He Xun, holding the doorknob, poked his head in first, but quickly, probably realizing he should have knocked first, a look of annoyance instantly appeared on his clean face.

Immediately afterwards, He Xun slightly raised his eyelids and met his gaze directly.

Mo Shilin inexplicably curled the corners of his lips into a smile.

"......"

He Xun was a little embarrassed.

He had originally planned to sneak out and knock on the door again before Mo Shilin noticed, but now he'd been caught red-handed.

His image as a respectable male servant has finally crumbled.

Just as he was caught in a dilemma, Mo Shilin casually put the lighter into his pocket and strode towards him: "Where have you been?"

He Xun then calmly handed over the crab roe buns and millet porridge, saying, "I've gone to buy you food."

Finally, he added, "It's a bit far, and I was afraid of being late, so I rushed back and forgot to knock. I'm sorry."

His soft black hair was slightly disheveled from being tossed by the wind. He stood obediently and beautifully in front of the man, holding two bags in his hands. He looked up at the man, and his dark pupils revealed a sense of relaxed vulnerability because the other man did not blame him.

Mo Shilin smiled happily, about to say something, when he noticed that He Xun's shirt sleeve had a large tear.

He suppressed his smile, frowned, and gestured for He Xun to go into the inner room first to change his clothes.

He Xun originally wanted to refuse, but then he thought that it wouldn't matter to him, but if he stayed in Yuntu in disheveled clothes for a day, it would be Mo Shilin who would lose face.

He still had this awareness, so he followed Mo Shilin into the inner room.

Mo Shilin took a spare shirt from the closet, handed it to He Xun, and raised an eyebrow, asking, "Went to rob someone?"

The implication was that he was being asked how he got into this situation.

He Xun chuckled, put down the paper bag in his hand, and explained in a roundabout way, "An electric scooter was going the wrong way, I dodged it, and my clothes got torn."

"Which street? There should be surveillance cameras around here." Mo Shilin said, about to go out to make a phone call.

"Don't, you didn't bump into me." He Xun quickly stopped him, "It's not worth it."

Besides, he didn't want to owe Mo Shilin a favor; things could easily get complicated, and what if one day...?

He was really afraid that he wouldn't be able to bring himself to be ruthless when the time came.

To He Xun's surprise, after changing his clothes, Mo Shilin made a big fuss, pulling his arm to examine him for a long time to make sure that he really didn't have any life-threatening injuries before letting him go.

He Xun couldn't help but tease, "Young Master Mo, I'm not a two-dimensional character either."

But Mo Shilin, unusually, ignored his teasing and just stared at him up and down with a very ambiguous look.

The two have different body types, so the clothes look different on them. The shirt that used to fit Mo Shilin perfectly now looks extremely loose on He Xun. The loose fabric makes him look even thinner, his waist is even slimmer, and the cherry pink on his chest is barely visible.

Mo Shilin suddenly felt a bit thirsty and wondered if the shirt was a little too transparent.

He didn't have this effect when he wore it before.

Seeing that he was ignoring him, He Xun assumed he was unhappy and decided to stop while he was ahead: "Then Young Master Mo, please eat first. Just call me if you need anything."

After saying that, he tucked the edge of his shirt into his trousers.

Mo Shilin glanced at him and suddenly asked, "Do you like that type from earlier?"

"What?" He Xun was baffled.

"People," Mo Shilin said succinctly.

After a few seconds of stunned silence, He Xun said almost decisively, "I didn't! I wouldn't dare!"

How could he dare?!

This guy was already jealous just from hearing Qin Zhuo's name from the protagonist's mouth. If he gets involved, he'll be tormented to death.

Mo Shilin was clearly unwilling to let He Xun get away with it so easily. His dark, phoenix-shaped eyes stared sharply at him, as if he wanted to get to the bottom of things: "What's there to be afraid of? Were you always this timid and hesitant in relationships before?"

He Xun didn't want to discuss such a dangerous and somewhat borderline issue with the second protagonist of the novel; the butterfly effect is no joke.

Furthermore, what he said was true; in terms of love alone, he really didn't like the innocent, naive type like Jian Ye.

That type of woman would only make him overly paternal.

"It won't taste good when it's cold."

He Xun ignored him and pointed to the paper bag on the table, using the vendor's words to shut the man up.

Mo Shilin knew he was playing dumb again, so he chuckled, sat down, opened the paper bag, and said in a pretentious tone, "Thank you for your expense."

"It's okay, I'll wait for reimbursement."

"......"

Thanks to He Xun's jog back, the crab roe buns were still warm despite the long journey. They were still steaming hot when taken out, filling the entire lounge with a rich aroma.

Mo Shilin took one and fed it to him first: "Try one, don't get your hands dirty."

Since he had said that, He Xun naturally couldn't refuse. He opened his mouth and bit down, but the soup burst out and quickly flowed from the corner of his mouth, running straight down to his chin.

He Xun instinctively shut his mouth, but by sheer coincidence, he bit Mo Shilin's finger. He quickly let go and awkwardly looked down to find a tissue.

Unexpectedly, Mo Shilin forcefully stuffed the remaining half into his mouth without saying a word: "Eat yours, I'll wipe it in a bit." As he spoke, he quickly grabbed a tissue and wiped his chin.

Before He Xun could even say "thank you," his mouth was immediately shut up by the next crab roe bun.

"......"

In the end, there were four crab roe buns in total, and He Xun was fed three of them by Mo Shilin.

He Xun only realized something was wrong after he finished eating.

Why is Mo Shilin being treated like his male servant? It's completely upside down.

Realizing he was being inappropriate, He Xun quietly moved to the side and said, "I'm not eating."

Mo Shilin then put the last crab roe bun into his mouth, finished his porridge with good manners, got up, put away the trash bag, and said to He Xun, "Stay in this room today."

He Xun also stood up and nodded respectfully, saying okay.

Unexpectedly, Mo Shilin walked to the door, but then turned back and said in a teasing tone, "This is a bit like keeping a mistress in a golden house."

The poem itself may be considered a good poem, but the ending of that Empress Chen was really not good.

He Xun chuckled and deliberately retorted, "Then you must have kept quite a few mistresses hidden away."

He paused subtly, then added, "Besides, this can hardly be considered a golden house."

She's good at being sarcastic and sarcastic.

A hint of a smile appeared in Mo Shilin's indifferent eyes as he raised his hand in a show of weakness: "I was just kidding. Okay, just stay here."
