Chapter 30 His heart trembled suddenly
"Just come when I tell you to. Why so much nonsense? Hurry up! I have something for you!" Da Wang waved his hand.
Jiang Xiaoliu felt that with his sister around, Da Wang would definitely not dare to do anything to him, so he plucked up the courage and ran over.
Da Wang stuffed the handful of stones in his hand into his pocket and said, "Okay, get out of here!"
Jiang Xiaoliu opened his pocket and looked again and again. He could not believe his eyes. Da Wang actually gave him a handful of beautiful pebbles!
Does the sun rise from the west?
Jiang Xiaoliu ran back happily. Su Luo asked curiously, "Why did he look for you?"
"Nothing. Just give me a handful of nice-looking pebbles. Sister Luoluo, they're all yours."
Jiang Xiaoliu took advantage of the situation and took out all the stones in his pocket and handed them to Su Luo.
Su Luo took the beautiful pebble and looked up at the opposite side. The young man had stood up and was walking upstream while beating the grass with a stick.
"Let's go home!"
Su Luo put the pebbles in her pocket, carried the bamboo jar on her back, and went down the mountain with Jiang Xiaoliu.
Back at the Jiang family's house, the two walked in one after the other. Yao Guixiang went out to feed the chickens. Seeing Jiang Xiaoliu coming back covered in mud, she said unhappily, "Why are you so muddy in the morning? Where did you go to play in the mud again?"
Jiang Xiaoliu ignored his grandmother's scolding and shouted excitedly, "Grandma, Sister Luoluo and I are going fishing."
"Where did you catch the fish? I think you are the fish, and you are a loach."
Yao Guixiang was stirring the bran in the basin to make chicken feed without even raising her head.
She knew that her little grandson loved playing in the mud and often ran into the mud ditch and played until he was completely exhausted.
"Hey, Grandma, look, these are the fish that Sister Luoluo and I caught. Is that a lot?"
Although Jiang Xiaoliu didn't put in any effort in catching the fish, he was afraid that his grandmother would pull him away if he didn't say that.
After Yao Guixiang finished mixing the chicken feed, she looked up and saw a large, white crucian carp in the bamboo jar. Her eyes lit up, "Wow, did we really catch a fish? Such a big one!"
It was really a surprise. Yao Guixiang knew that her grandson always went out under the pretext of fishing, but he never caught any fish. But how come he caught so many today?
"There's more than one, there are several in there! Sister Luoluo's bamboo jar has more than mine."
Jiang Xiaoliu was describing the situation happily when Su Luo came over and put down another heavier bamboo jar. "Grandma, where do we put these fish?"
Yao Guixiang looked at Su Luo's bamboo jar again and was overjoyed. "Oh my god, they really caught so many fish! Hurry up, I'll get a big tank to raise them."
Soon, Yao Guixiang got out an empty water tank, filled it with water, and put all the lively big crucian carp in it.
Turning around, he smiled and said to Su Luo and Xiao Liu, "If you keep them here, they won't die. You can eat them slowly. I'll kill two of them later and make fish soup for you at noon."
Yao Guixiang looked at Su Luo with a smile. She thought her granddaughter was really lucky to be able to catch so many fish when she went out.
These fish can be kept for my granddaughter's health.
Near noon, Yao Guixiang killed two crucian carps, cleaned them, and prepared to make a pot of fish soup.
Su Luo helped her grandmother add fire and pull the bellows, watching her grandmother carefully put the crucian carp into the oil pan and fry it until both sides were golden brown. After the aroma came out, she began to add seasonings and water.
The seasoning is very simple, just green onion and ginger, plus a little bit of white wine to remove the fishy smell.
Su Luo first boiled the fish soup over high heat, and waited for it to boil for a while, until it turned a beautiful milky white color. Then her grandmother asked her to switch to medium-low heat and continue simmering.
The aroma of fish soup filled the entire kitchen, arousing Su Luo's gluttony.
When the fish soup was almost done, grandma put some tofu cubes in it and beat an egg into it to enhance the flavor.
A big pot of fresh fish soup was finally ready, and the hot pancakes made by grandma were also out of the pot. Cucumber and lettuce salad were added as side dishes, and lunch was ready.
When my grandfather and fourth uncle came back from the fields, fresh fish soup and hot pancakes were served on the table.
"What a delicious smell! We're having fish for lunch today? Where did you get the fish?"
Jiang Jiaan glanced at the table and was surprised to see the fish in the big soup bowl.
"Xiaoliu and Luoluo caught them from a small river in the mountains." Yao Guixiang explained with a smile while setting the dishes and chopsticks.
"Wow, not bad! Our Xiaoliu can catch fish? I think it was Luoluo who caught it!" Jiang Jiaan didn't believe that his son could catch fish.
"I took Sister Luoluo to catch it. If I didn't take her, she wouldn't be able to catch it." Jiang Xiaoliu said with a red face.
"Okay, okay, you're all quite capable."
Everyone sat down together, and Yao Guixiang served everyone fish soup and tofu cubes, and gave the two fish heads and tails to Jiang Houde and Jiang Jiaan respectively.
The two fish stomachs were given to Su Luo and Xiao Liu respectively, and the eggs inside were also given to Su Luo.
Su Luo looked at the big bowl of fresh fish soup, the aroma was so fragrant, and she swallowed her saliva.
"Eat, eat. You two better watch out for the fish bones!"
Yao Guixiang gave instructions and sat down to help her grandson pick out the fish bones. Su Luo saw that all the fish had been shared with them and there was nothing in her grandmother's bowl, so she picked out the belly of her own fish and gave it to her grandmother.
"Grandma, you can eat the fish meat, and I'll just drink the soup. The soup is so delicious!"
Su Luo ate hot pancakes and drank delicious and fragrant fish soup, feeling that her life was so happy now.
"You need to eat more so that you can grow. Grandma ate enough when she was young."
Yao Guixiang felt sorry for Su Luo for being so sensible, so she told a white lie, put the fish meat with the bones removed back into Su Luo's bowl, and told her to eat more.
After a satisfying lunch, Su Luo took a short nap. When she woke up, Yao Guixiang said to her, "Luoluo, go find Xiaoliu. I don't know where he's gone. If he plays in the mud again, you'll spank him."
"I know, Grandma."
Su Luo went out to look for Xiaoliu. Xiaoliu didn't run far away. He was climbing the wall with a few other children of similar age.
They climbed the wall to pick the cactus fruits on the wall.
The fruit of the cactus is purple-red when ripe. After peeling off the thorny skin, the flesh inside is edible and has a slightly sour and sweet taste.
But it is quite dangerous to eat the fruit.
Jiang Xiaoliu had just climbed onto the wall when Su Luo grabbed his ear and said, "Ouch, ouch, it hurts, Sister Luoluo."
"Don't you want to die? Come back with me."
Su Luo pulled Jiang Xiaoliu back home.
The two returned to the Jiang family's yard and found that someone had come to the house. There were some things on the ground at the door, which looked like they could only be bought in department stores and supply and marketing cooperatives outside.
Yao Guixiang was holding a teapot. When she saw Su Luo and Xiao Liu, she said to the people in the room, "Luoluo and the others are back!"
Everyone in the room looked towards the door. Jiang Changshun, the eldest son of the Jiang family, was sitting in the room. He looked up at the door when he heard the sound.
When he saw it for the first time, his heart trembled violently.
