Chapter 109 The Plan Failed

Old Master Ye fell into deep thought, a dark glint in his eyes; "I'm afraid they've been used as pawns."

"You've been used as a pawn, sir. You mean someone's behind this? Who is it?" The butler asked, surprised and curious.

"Who do you think is unhappy with my recommendation of the young mistress as acting president?"

"Master, you mean Second Master?"

"His wife is no pushover, and he's easily swayed... sigh..."

"Then, sir, what should we do now? They haven't achieved their goal; what if they do something even more drastic?"

"Ah Hao, have Liu Lin come to my office later. I have something to tell you."

"Yes, sir."

"Let's go back to the office."

"good."

The butler helped Old Master Ye walk towards his office.

After the eight shareholders left the meeting room, although they were still a little worried, they were not as aggressive as when they arrived.

"Oh, right, Mr. Liu, didn't we promise Second Master that we'd recommend their son? We even said we'd give them good news later, but we completely forgot about it." Mr. Zhang then remembered the purpose of their visit.

"Oh, right, how could we forget? What do we do now?"

"Yes, what if the Second Madam calls and asks us?"

The shareholders fell silent. They had rushed over to demand an explanation, but were quickly persuaded by Old Master Ye.

"Whatever she does, since we promised to give the successor chosen by Master Ye a chance, we can't go back on our word."

"Her son is a good-for-nothing, maybe even worse than this woman."

"Yeah, she wasn't a good person either. Now that I think about it, I feel like we were all used as pawns by her. I wonder if anyone else feels the same way."

"Ms. Ma is right. Looking back now, we were actually quite swayed by her to come here."

"That woman is very scheming."

"So she called to ask us what to say?"

"Just tell the truth. If she has any complaints, let her go directly to the old man."

"Yes, that's what we'll do."

"I also think it's feasible."

"Okay, that's settled then. We'll contact you again if anything comes up."

"good."

The three of them spent a wonderful afternoon at their second aunt's villa, all in high spirits, eagerly awaiting good news from the shareholders.

Ye Lanhong was pruning his flowers by the garden, humming a little tune now and then, feeling extremely content. His second aunt was lying on a recliner, admiring her newly done nails. The more she looked at them, the more satisfied she became. She picked up the coffee next to her and took a sip. It was sweet and smooth, so comfortable that she closed her eyes. Ye Boxuan was not in a restless mood at the moment. He took out his phone and was playing a game with a smile on his face.

Just then, the doorbell rang. Ye Lanhong put down the scissors in his hand and went to the door. After opening the door, he saw Boss Ma, one of the eight shareholders from earlier. This man had received a lot of benefits from Second Master, so he still came, intending to report what had just happened to them.

"Mr. Ma, you're here! Come in and have a seat," Ye Lanhong said warmly.

Mr. Ma walked in, but the expression on his face was not what they wanted to see.

"Second Master, I have something to tell you," said Boss Ma.

Hearing the noise, Auntie sat up from her recliner. She looked at Mr. Ma, a sense of unease rising within her.

"What happened?" Auntie asked.

"Second Madam, after careful consideration, we have decided to support Old Master Ye's choice," said President Ma.

Auntie's face turned deathly pale; she couldn't believe what she was hearing. "How could you do this? Didn't we agree on this beforehand?"

"Second Madam, I'm sorry," Mr. Ma said, bowing his head.

"Alright, I understand. You can leave now." Auntie's voice had turned icy.

Seeing her gloomy face, Mr. Ma didn't want to stay any longer and quickly left the place.

"Bang!" The things piled on the table were swept to the ground by Second Aunt, and even her newly done nails were broken.

"A bunch of good-for-nothings, they can't do anything right, and they've caused me to lose so much money for nothing. It's outrageous!" Second Aunt's eyes were fierce, and her face was frosty.

Ye Boxuan, who had been playing games all afternoon, also threw his phone to the ground, shattering it into pieces. His eyes turned bloodshot, and he walked angrily to his second aunt.

"Mom, is this what you meant by 'a sure thing'?"

Second Aunt looked at her son.

"I told you long ago, Grandpa isn't so easy to deal with." Ye Boxuan glared at his second aunt, his eyes filled with disappointment.

My second aunt gritted her teeth. "I miscalculated this time. I didn't expect that old man to convince those shareholders."

"What do we do now? We've lost the support of those shareholders, making it even harder to get the CEO position." Ye Boxuan paced anxiously.

Second Aunt took a deep breath. "Don't worry, we have other ways. As long as that girl has problems with her business, we can regain control of the situation."

Ye Boxuan stopped in his tracks. "What's your plan?"

A sinister smile crept across my aunt's lips. "I heard the company recently signed a big contract, but the product delivery deadline is tight, and the client is a difficult person to deal with. We could try to find a way to work things out with this contract..."

"Mom, do you have any specific plans?" Ye Boxuan asked, his face showing anticipation.

"Let me think about it carefully. Once I've figured it out, I'll tell you how to carry it out."

"good."
