Chapter 45 Problems with Medicine

Time flies. Xiao Qianqian had been working at the pharmaceutical company for more than two months. One day, her fourth senior brother called her to his office and said he had something to tell her.

She pushed open the door to the CEO's office, phone in hand: "Senior, what do you need me for? Can't you just say it over the phone?"

Fourth Senior Brother's face was unusually serious. "Junior Sister, come, sit down. There's a problem with one of the drugs we recently produced. The hospitals we're cooperating with have reported that this batch of drugs has had little effect, and patients have developed varying degrees of bruising. One patient even went into shock. I called you here to ask you what you think is the cause?"

Xiao Qianqian frowned upon hearing this; she knew the matter was very serious.

She paused for a moment and said, "Senior, I think there might be a problem with the drug formulation or some part of the production process. We need to immediately check all relevant data and records, and test the retained samples. In addition, I suggest notifying the hospital to suspend the use of this batch of drugs and informing the patient's family. Also, we need to immediately set up an investigation team to thoroughly investigate this matter, find out where the problem lies, and resolve it as soon as possible to prevent the situation from escalating."

Fourth Senior Brother nodded, indicating his agreement with her opinion, and then instructed, "You will be in charge of the investigation team. You must get to the bottom of this!" Xiao Qianqian replied with a firm look in her eyes, "Don't worry, Senior Brother, I will definitely find the reason."

"Okay, junior sister, thank you for your hard work. I'll go check on each of the partner hospitals. We'll split up."

"Okay, senior brother."

Xiao Qianqian returned to her office, made a list, formed an investigation team, and then convened a meeting with the team members to assign the investigation tasks.

She immediately launched an operation, leading an investigation team to conduct an in-depth investigation of the production plant to examine the drug formula and production process.

The pharmaceutical factory is not near the company; it's located in a high-tech industrial zone, about a two-hour drive from here.

She took Ye Lin and the others and drove to the pharmaceutical factory. In the car, she carefully studied the test report for this batch of drugs and found no problems with it so far.

Upon arriving at the pharmaceutical factory, a middle-aged man in his forties rushed out, wiping away sweat, and said, "Director Xiao, hello, I'm Liu Beicheng, the factory manager. I've already sealed this batch of problematic drugs in the finished product warehouse. Would you like to see the drugs first, or the production records?"

"The factory has several workshops, and this batch of drugs is being produced in several workshops. I need to speak with the workshop director separately. You can make the arrangements."

Upon hearing this, Liu Beicheng hurriedly nodded and bowed, leading Xiao Qianqian and her group into the pharmaceutical factory. As they walked, he introduced the basic situation of the factory to Xiao Qianqian.

Soon, they arrived at the conference room. Shortly after, several workshop foremen also arrived.

Xiao Qianqian got straight to the point, inquiring about the specific details of the drug production. The workshop directors took turns reporting, and she listened attentively, taking notes and occasionally asking key questions.

When it was the turn of the director of the fourth workshop to report, this director was a relatively young man, probably in his thirties. He stood up, wiped away his cold sweat, and then began to report on the production situation. Xiao Qianqian glanced at the man, and a hint of guilt flashed across his eyes. Others might not have noticed it, but Xiao Qianqian saw it and made a note of it in her notebook.

Xiao Qianqian narrowed her eyes slightly, a hint of doubt rising in her heart. She decided to talk to the director alone after the meeting.

After the meeting, Xiao Qianqian found the director of the fourth workshop and asked him directly, "Director, you seemed a little nervous during your report. Is there something you're hiding from me?"

The director's expression changed, and he stammered, "No...no, I'm just a little nervous."

Xiao Qianqian sneered, opened the notebook in her hand, pointed to the records on it and said, "Don't think I didn't see the look in your eyes back then. What exactly do you know? If you don't tell the truth now, the consequences will be very serious once I find out."

The foreman of Workshop Four, still with his head down, denied it, saying, "Director, I really have nothing to hide; I'm just too nervous."

"real?"

"real."

"Alright, that's all. You can go now."

"Director, why did you let him go? He clearly looked guilty," Ye Lin said anxiously from the side.

"He clearly doesn't want to talk, and even if we ask him again, we probably won't get any answers. It's better to let him go. Have a few people keep a close eye on him; from today onwards, I need to know his every move."

"Okay, I'll go arrange it right away."

Xiao Qianqian pondered for a moment and then called the manufacturer to her office.

"Director Liu, could you tell me about the specific situation of the director of your fourth workshop?"

"Workshop Foreman, you mean Xiao Lin? This young man is very capable and hardworking. His family is relatively poor, but he has been very diligent since joining our pharmaceutical factory. I promoted him to workshop foreman because I thought he was a good candidate. He is also the youngest workshop foreman in our pharmaceutical factory..."

"Has Director Liu noticed anything unusual about him recently?"

"Director, you doubt him? That's impossible. This young man is loyal and responsible. I've always had high hopes for him. Others might make mistakes, but I don't think he will."

"Are you so sure? I also hope it's not him." Xiao Qianqian said thoughtfully, "But based on my observations so far, he's the most suspicious one. Here's what we'll do, Director Liu, you should keep a close eye on him and report to me immediately if you find anything unusual."

Factory Director Liu nodded and left the office with a serious expression.

Xiao Qianqian leaned back in her chair and rubbed her temples. This incident had to be resolved as soon as possible; otherwise, it would not only damage the company's reputation but could also trigger a series of chain reactions. She decided to personally investigate Workshop Four to see if she could find more evidence.

She arrived at the finished product warehouse in Workshop 4. The problematic drugs had been sealed off immediately after the problem occurred. Now, no one except the investigation team members is allowed to enter this finished product warehouse.

Xiao Qianqian carefully inspected each box of medicine, not overlooking any detail. Suddenly, she found a sealed file bag in a corner. She opened it and found some experimental data and reports inside.

The data looked somewhat strange, and Xiao Qianqian frowned slightly, realizing that this might be crucial evidence. She carefully put away the file folder, preparing to take it back to her office for further study. She also collected samples from each box of medicine to take back for further analysis.

Then she went to other workshops to collect samples, and a conclusion could only be drawn after they were studied together back at the workshop.
