Chapter 101 Verses

It was exactly 9 PM.

Centered on Prajna Lake, a golden light suddenly shone brightly within a radius of ten miles, illuminating the area as if it were daytime. Immediately afterwards, the faint sound of Buddhist music arose, bringing peace and tranquility to the listeners, and a warmth as gentle as spring.

More than two hundred people on the lakeside stood up and looked into the lake at this extraordinary phenomenon. They saw that the entire wide lake was shrouded in a hazy golden light. The golden light connected heaven and earth. Although it looked hazy and unclear, it gave people a feeling of resilience and indestructibility.

Looking through the golden light from the lakeside, one can see a brighter golden beam in the very center of the lake, seemingly located on an island in the middle of the lake, which is faintly shrouded in light.

Li Molin reacted quickly, turning to Ji Jue and saying urgently, "Ji Jue, take a few people and go check it out, quick!"

Ji Jue responded and, with a few people, quickly took to the air and flew towards the island in the middle of the lake.

Not only the demons, but also several Taoists and Buddhists took flight and quickly flew towards the island in the center of the lake.

Ji Jue and his group moved with incredible speed, reaching the lakeside in the blink of an eye. But then, a sudden change occurred. Ji Jue and his dozen or so companions crashed into the golden light surrounding the lake, only to be bounced back by the seemingly thin light, flying backward even faster than they had gone.

Upon seeing this, Li Molin's gaze narrowed slightly.

The faint sound of Buddhist music gradually grew louder. Just as Ji Jue and the others flew back and flew nearly a hundred feet before staggering to land, a small boat suddenly appeared silently on the lakeside.

The small boat appeared out of nowhere and moored at the edge of the lake. On the boat was a little monk who looked about seven or eight years old. The little monk had red lips and white teeth, delicate features, and a chubby face with a lovely smile.

The young monk stood on the boat with his hands clasped together, bowed to the more than two hundred people on the shore, and said in a somewhat childish voice, "Namo Amitabha Buddha, this humble monk greets you all!"

The young monk smiled and looked around, then raised his voice and said, "Buddha guides those with affinity. I wonder which of you among us is destined to be with Buddha?"

Li Molin clenched his fist, and with a flash of black light in his hand, the skull staff quietly appeared. He gripped the skull staff tightly and suddenly flew up into the lake without saying a word.

The little monk watched as Li Molin flew towards him at high speed, but his expression remained unchanged. He waved his chubby little hand, and a golden Buddhist light suddenly appeared and quickly met Li Molin.

Seeing that the golden light was extremely fast, Li Molin had no time to dodge. He could only raise the skull staff in his hand and slash diagonally, creating a sharp light that cut towards the golden Buddhist light. However, the Buddhist light did not move at all and instantly melted away the light of the skull staff. Then, it pounced on Li Molin without any hindrance.

Li Molin collided head-on with the golden Buddha light, feeling as if he had hit a tough net. Then, a tremendous force struck him, and his body went limp and he plummeted to the ground.

Just as Li Molin was about to land on the ground, Ji Jue flew over and caught him, preventing him from falling to the ground in a disheveled manner.

Li Molin was furious, his face darkened, and he coldly looked at the little monk on the boat.

The young monk bowed in Buddhist salutation towards Li Molin and said with a smile, "Young master, why be in such a hurry? If you are destined to be on board, this humble monk will allow you to board the ship."

"Hmph!" Li Molin's face turned ugly.

Liuli skipped over to Li Molin's side and asked in a low voice, "Li Molin, are you alright?"

"I'm fine." Li Molin's expression softened, and he gently shook his head.

"Oh." Liuli responded and jumped onto Li Molin's shoulder. She looked at the little monk on the boat with curiosity and exclaimed, "What a handsome little monk!"

"What's so pretty about it?" Li Molin said coldly, "You bald Buddhist monk who's always putting on airs!"

Liuli pouted and muttered, "You're just jealous of her!"

Li Molin was in a bad mood. Upon hearing Liuli's words, he snorted coldly, his eyes darkening. He glared at Liuli unhappily, which made her shrink back and immediately fall silent.

The young monk on the boat looked around at the crowd on the shore and said with a smile, "I have a verse left by the Buddha before his Nirvana. I can recite the first two lines. If any of you can recite the last two lines exactly as the Buddha recited, you are a person destined for the Buddha. I will only ferry one person to the island in the middle of the lake to retrieve the treasure. That person will be the one destined for the Buddha."

"Listen carefully, everyone!" The little monk raised his voice and recited each word clearly: "The first two lines of this verse are: 'Kalpas are formed, kalpas are passed, kalpas are not kalpas; conditions arise and cease, conditions gather and disperse.'"

As soon as the young monk finished speaking, all the monks by the lake fell into deep thought and fell silent for a moment.

The demons were in an uproar. One of them said loudly without any politeness, "You little bald monk, I don't understand what you're saying at all. Why don't you have a good fight with me? Whoever wins will get the treasure."

"Exactly!" a demon shouted in agreement. "That's fair!"

"..."

The demons continued their clamor, their words growing increasingly offensive. However, the young monk seemed oblivious to their pleas. He clasped his hands together, his bright eyes fixed on the monks on the shore, waiting with a smile.

After the young monk finished reciting the verse, Liang Yihan and the other Taoists mostly showed a hint of mockery. Since it was a verse left by Shakyamuni Buddha, naturally only these monks could answer it. So the Taoists chatted leisurely and casually, not one of them even trying to think about it; they all gave up completely.

Now, at the moment when the great war between good and evil is about to begin after ten thousand years, various rare treasures from the three paths that have long been hidden have emerged one after another. However, everyone from the three paths knows very well that the rare treasures left behind by their own sects, the people who guard them, or the methods to obtain them are definitely biased towards themselves. But this time, the bias of the Buddhist sect towards the rare treasures that have emerged is too obvious.

The people by the lake understood each other without saying a word. After shouting for a while, the demons gradually stopped when they saw that the little monk did not react at all.

At that moment, Li Molin stood in front of the demons, with Liuli and Ahua on his shoulders, one on each side. Liuli observed the situation and whispered in Li Molin's ear, "Li Molin, judging from the situation, you definitely won't be able to get this treasure."

"Hmph!" Li Molin snorted coldly and said in a low voice, "No matter which monk gets that treasure, I, Li Molin, swear to destroy it!"

"No!" Liuli said urgently, "It would be such a waste to destroy it. If you don't want it, just give it to me!"

Li Molin turned to look at her, nodded, and replied, "Okay."
