Chapter 104 Fierce Battle

In that instant, the faint Buddhist music suddenly stopped, the golden light that had surrounded the entire lake vanished, and the world suddenly went dark.

Just as darkness fell and everyone was still reeling, unable to see anything clearly, a white light suddenly flashed onto Shi Chan's shoulder. While Shi Chan was still stunned, he heard a familiar voice urgently say, "Little monk, run! Li Molin wants to kill you and steal the treasure!"

Before Shi Chan could speak, he felt a lightness on his shoulder. He turned his head and, by the moonlight, saw a white light hopping and skipping towards the place where the demons were gathered, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

The two hundred-plus people quickly adapted to the darkness. Since they were all cultivators and could see at night, they didn't find it particularly difficult to see.

Suddenly, a cold voice came from the side, saying in a chilling tone, "All of you, attack! Kill that monk!"

"Monks of Bodhi Temple, listen up! Protect Brother Shi Chan and return to the mountain immediately!" Shi Ning shouted in the darkness.

Next came Yuanjue's voice, which loudly proclaimed: "Monks of Jinyuan Temple, listen up! Help protect our fellow monks from Bodhi Temple as they safely return to the mountain!"

Huiyan then said, "The nuns of Pudu Nunnery, together with all our fellow disciples, swear to protect our junior brother Shichan to the death!"

The three Buddhist sects were exceptionally united, but most of the disciples from the various Taoist sects quietly left under the cover of darkness, leaving only a dozen or so members of the Yuandao Sect behind.

Liang Yihan smiled in the darkness and raised his voice, "Listen up, disciples of the Yuandao Sect! We stand with our fellow Daoists from the Buddhist sect!"

That being said, while the demons and monks were locked in a fierce battle, Liang Yihan and many other disciples of the Yuandao Sect stayed on the periphery of the battle, occasionally taking a few sneaky attacks, but without exerting any effort whatsoever.

The monks had no desire to fight and only wanted to protect Shi Chan and get him away as quickly as possible. However, Li Molin commanded the demons to surround the monks and prevent them from leaving.

Liuli and Ahua stayed in a place far away from the battlefield, while Li Molin left Ji Jue with a dozen or so men to guard and protect them.

Liuli and Ahua watched the battle from afar, exchanging astonished glances.

The demons and monks moved about, each using their own methods. Golden and black light intertwined, illuminating the land as bright as day. Every now and then, blood and severed limbs could be seen splattering under the various colored lights, a truly horrifying sight.

The crescent moon in the sky moved slowly, and the battle on the ground became more and more intense. Eventually, both sides were enraged and had long forgotten the cause of the conflict. The demons no longer stared intently at Shi Chan as they had at the beginning.

At that time, Shi Chan's face was filled with sorrow. In the fierce battle, in order to protect himself and because he hated the cruelty of the demons, he was reluctant to do anything, but his actions were precise and uncompromising.

Liuli searched diligently for Shichan in the crowd, only to find him surrounded by golden light, his seven-jeweled kasaya radiating dazzling brilliance, shielding him from all attacks.

Liuli turned to Ahua and said, "Ahua, do you think the robe the little monk is wearing is the treasure we have this time?"

Ahua and Liuli snuggled together, raising their little faces to search the battlefield for a while. Soon they spotted the most conspicuous Shichan. She nodded and lazily replied, "It should be him."

Time passed slowly. From the time when Shi Chan returned, it was past midnight, and the battle intensified until the end of the 1-3 AM. Apart from Liang Yihan and a dozen other Taoists who remained on the periphery of the battle, the monks and demons suffered heavy casualties. Their blood flowed into the lake, turning the lake red.

Liuli was a little sleepy, but because she was worried about Shichan and Li Molin, she forced herself to stay awake and watch the battle. Ahua had also been paying attention to the battle, but later she realized that Liang Yihan was very clever and didn't really put in any effort, so there was probably no danger. Plus, she was too sleepy to resist, so she had already curled up and fallen asleep next to Liuli.

Liu Li frowned, looked up at Ji Jue, and asked in a low voice, "Ji Jue, how long is this going to go on? Look, the little monk is injured, and Li Molin is injured too!"

Ji Jue's face was tense, his brows furrowed, and his expression full of worry. He shook his head and said, "I don't know either."

Liu Li muttered, "Ji Jue, why don't you go and take a look? Try to persuade Li Molin to stop fighting. What will happen if this continues?"

Ji Jue carefully searched through the crowd for a moment and saw Li Molin covered in blood. It was unclear whether he was injured or if someone had splattered blood on him. He had a cold and stern expression and his moves were fierce and deadly.

Ji Jue and Yu Ke had been by Li Molin's side since childhood. Although Yu Ke wasn't particularly bright, he understood Li Molin extremely well. He could tell from Li Molin's expression that he was currently enraged. Just like when the three of them were young, in the Demon Realm, one day Li Molin overheard a group of teenagers speaking ill of his mother. Li Molin flew into a rage, and despite the teenagers being much older and more powerful than him, he recklessly rushed over and fought them. That was the first time Ji Jue had seen Li Molin so angry, and to this day, Ji Jue still remembered his bloodshot eyes and fierce expression.

The second, third, and fourth times followed... At this point, Li Molin's eyes turned red and his face became fierce. Ji Jue knew that he could not persuade Li Molin to stop now.

Ji Jue sighed heavily and shook his head helplessly, saying, "If only Yu Ke were here..."

Liuli was anxious. She wanted to run over and try to persuade them, but looking at the chaotic battle and the terrifying sight of flashing swords, she couldn't help but shrink back.

The fighting continued until dawn, when both the Buddhist and demonic sides suffered more than half their casualties, and even Liang Yihan and a dozen other Taoists were exhausted from the ordeal.

Liang Yihan stopped and moved away from the battle. He looked up at the sky and down at the casualties. He nodded in satisfaction, chuckled softly, and raised his voice: "Fellow Buddhists, this kind of fighting can't go on! I have a suggestion!"

Exhausted, Yuanjue snapped out of his reverie of the battle before him. He looked around and a look of pity appeared on his face.

He pushed aside a demon in front of him, creating an opening to fly up to Liang Yihan. Using the dawn's first rays of sunlight, he examined Liang Yihan closely and saw that Liang Yihan looked exhausted, his clothes tattered and stained with blood. What he didn't know was that the tattered clothes were Liang Yihan's own, and the blood on them belonged to someone else.

Yuanjue was deeply moved. He knew that Liang Yihan and the other disciples of Yuandao Sect could have left, and should have left, but they stayed until now and seemed to have really contributed. Perhaps Liang Yihan was truly a kind-hearted and virtuous person!
