Chapter 148 Missing You

She hadn't seen Shi Chan since leaving the Man-Eating Demon Palace, and after nearly a month, she missed him terribly.

Although Liuli wanted to go down immediately, she didn't dare to make a sound. She lowered her head, her eyes darting around.

After a while, she looked up, frowned, and said, "Li Molin, what you guys are saying is so boring!"

Li Molin was taken aback for a moment, then asked in confusion, "What do you want to do?"

Liuli said, "I'm full, I want to go out and play!"

Li Molin took a sip of tea and said calmly, "I'll take you out after I've discussed it with Yu Ke."

"No!" Liuli said with a frown, "I want to go out now!"

Li Molin pondered for a moment and said, "Alright, then go ahead. Come back here when you're done having fun, but don't come back too late."

"Okay!" Liuli was overjoyed. She picked up Ahua and ran towards the wooden stairs, making a series of loud "thump thump thump thump" sounds as she ran downstairs.

Li Molin withdrew his gaze from the wooden ladder, his eyes gentle, and shook his head with a light smile.

Liuli arrived on the street and saw that familiar figure about thirty or forty feet ahead. Overjoyed, she ran over and quickly caught up with him.

"Little monk!" Liuli called out loudly.

Shi Chan stopped and turned around abruptly, his expression a mixture of excitement and joy, quite unlike his usual calm and composed demeanor. He watched as Liu Li skipped and hopped towards him, and called out with a smile, "Miss Liu Li."

After Liuli ran to Shichan's side, she walked forward with him, saying as they walked, "Little monk, I haven't seen you in so long. Did you miss me?"

Shi Chan opened his mouth, but ultimately did not answer her question. He asked with a smile, "What brings you here, young lady?"

Liu Li smiled and said, "I came with Li Molin. It seems that the three rebel armies are about to attack, and the Imperial Seal of the State is about to be unveiled."

Shi Chan nodded and replied, "This humble monk has come upon receiving a message, also concerning the Imperial Seal of the State."

“I know.” Liuli turned to look at Shichan and asked with a smile, “Little monk, if you got that divine stone, what kind of weapon would you want to make from it?”

"This..." Shi Chan paused for a moment, then smiled and said, "This humble monk hadn't thought of that. And you, young lady, what kind of weapon do you wish to forge from the divine stone?"

"Hmm..." Liuli raised her little face and thought for a while, then smiled and said, "If I get the divine stone... I'll have a master craftsman refine it into a treasure that can find people. Then I'll throw the treasure away, and it will lead me to my Bailing. Then I'll know how tall my Bailing is now, what she looks like, and whether she's still as cheerful and cute as she was when she was little..."

As she spoke, Liuli lowered her head, looking annoyed, and said, "How could he just disappear? It's all my fault for not watching him properly..."

Upon hearing Liuli mention Bailing, Shichan's expression shifted slightly. He lowered his eyes, seemingly lost in thought, before finally raising them with a smile and saying, "That is indeed an extraordinary treasure."

“Of course.” Liuli raised her head and said, “It’s precisely because I’ve never heard of such a treasure in this world that I want to refine one.”

Shi Chan silently took a few steps forward, his expression hesitant. After a long pause, he said in a low voice, "I've heard you mention Bai Ling before. I wonder how you found him?"

Liuli frowned and replied, "He was thrown into the woods. Those two people were so cruel to throw him into the woods. They clearly wanted him to be eaten by wild animals! Luckily, I saw him. Otherwise, he would have been eaten by wild animals when he was so young. How pitiful that would have been."

"Yes," Shi Chan replied, his brows furrowing slightly, his eyes filled with confusion. He recalled the scenes he had witnessed in the illusion array at Yuntai Cave. He had always believed that everything in that illusion was fake, something he had imagined. But listening to Liuli's words today, he began to doubt his own thoughts.

"Little monk!"

Suddenly, Liuli reached out and grabbed Shichan's arm. Shichan stopped in confusion and looked up to see a thick tree trunk in front of him, only about three inches away from his face.

"What are you thinking about, little monk?" Liuli chuckled. "You almost bumped into a tree!"

Shi Chan stepped aside to avoid the large tree in front of him, scratched the back of his head, and said embarrassedly, "I'm sorry to have made you laugh, young lady."

Liuli withdrew her hand, thought for a moment, and smiled, "Little monk, let's go for a stroll in the West Market. The West Market is the most lively place in the entire Yingyang City."

Shi Chan hesitated for a moment. Although he wanted to go to the palace to see his fellow disciples as soon as possible, he couldn't bear to refuse Liuli's request when he saw the expectant smile on her face. After a moment of silence, he nodded with a smile and said, "Alright."

"Let's go, let's go!" Liuli exclaimed happily. She ran forward quickly, then turned back after a few steps and called out, "Hurry up, little monk!"

Shi Chan's face was gentle, his eyes tender. He nodded and quickened his pace to follow.

The early autumn air was unusually cool, and the afternoon sun shone gently down on the wide street. Groups of people chatting amongst themselves in front of the houses on both sides of the street glanced up and saw a tall, thin monk in gray robes and a girl in white robes walking by, laughing and talking. The girl's clothes were strange; her garments barely covered half of her arms and legs, seemingly unconcerned about the chill.

After shaking their heads and exchanging a few words, the group quickly turned their attention away from Liuli and began discussing the war at the front lines with worried expressions.
