Chapter 158 Recitation of Scriptures

Liang Yihan and Xuan Yuanhao were also advised against by the Buddhist sect on their way forward, but Liang Yihan only paused for a moment before continuing on.

They had already traversed most of the intricate passages between the cave entrance and the underground palace. Having just passed the Buddhist talisman that warned them against entering, they chose the middle entrance from among the three side-by-side cave entrances and entered a spacious passage.

Because of the warning talisman he had just received, Liang Yihan knew that the danger ahead was likely to increase, so he walked with extra caution and trepidation.

After walking a dozen steps through the passage, under the cold, eerie light of the luminous pearl, Liang Yihan was looking around to observe any potential dangers on the cave walls when, without noticing, he stepped on a Buddhist demon-subduing talisman. The talisman was about the size of a washbasin, with faint golden lines that were almost invisible in the dark cave.

As soon as Liang Yihan stepped on the talisman, it suddenly emitted a dazzling golden light, illuminating the entire passage as bright as day.

As soon as the golden light appeared, Liang Yihan immediately pulled his foot back, but it was too late.

The dazzling golden light gathered and condensed into tiny figures, each about two feet tall. Gradually, hundreds of these figures almost filled the entire passage. Once formed, these figures began to fly around haphazardly, leaving trails of golden light behind them as they traced mysterious and unpredictable paths through the passage, accompanied by increasingly loud and childlike chanting.

"When Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva was practicing the profound Prajnaparamita, he perceived that the five aggregates are all empty, and thus transcended all suffering and distress..."

"..."

"Bodhi has no tree, the bright mirror is not a stand; originally there is nothing, so where can dust settle?"

"..."

"I have made a transcendent ambition to attain the supreme path. I will not become an enlightened being until this wish is fulfilled. I will also become a great benefactor, universally relieving all the poor and suffering, so that all sentient beings may be free from afflictions throughout the long night..."

"..."

The chanting of scriptures, growing louder and louder, pounded into Liang Yihan's heart. Liang Yihan felt a splitting headache as he listened. He staggered, forced himself to turn around, and saw that Xuan Yuanhao was completely unaffected. Xuan Yuanhao was curiously looking around as rows of little figures flew around him. However, the scriptures these little figures were chanting were obscure and difficult to understand, causing Xuan Yuanhao to frown and look bewildered.

Liang Yihan felt a little relieved. The chanting made his mind extremely chaotic. He closed his eyes tightly and thought for a long time before finally managing to sort out his thoughts. He thought that perhaps he should find a way to get rid of these little people flying around in the passage, which might stop the annoying chanting.

"Yi Han?" Xuan Yuanhao stared at these villains for a while before remembering Liang Yi Han. He turned his head and saw Liang Yi Han's pained expression. He was startled and asked with concern, "Are you alright, Yi Han?"

Liang Yihan had no time to pay attention to him. His right hand trembled as he slowly moved to his chest and formed a sword incantation. A flash of crimson light appeared, and a small flying sword quietly emerged, trailing a crimson tail more than a foot long as it moved back and forth, stabbing towards the tiny golden figures.

However, within the dazzling golden light of the passage, the flying sword seemed to be stuck in a quagmire, its speed extremely slow, only slightly faster than a person's normal walking speed. In contrast, the little man's movements were exceptionally agile, skillfully dodging the attacks.

However, only half an incense stick's time had passed, and Liang Yihan was already sweating profusely. His hand, which was forming a sword incantation, was trembling unsteadily, and he looked as if he was about to fall. But at this moment, the crimson flying sword had only pierced the bodies of a dozen or so small figures, turning them into dust.

Liang Yihan's face was grim. In just this short time, he felt that more than half of the spiritual energy in his body had been consumed.

"This won't do..." he thought to himself.

After a moment's thought, Liang Yihan withdrew his sword technique and put his flying sword back into his storage ring. The ring flashed, and a scroll with dazzling blue light appeared out of thin air, floating in front of Liang Yihan.

Liang Yihan's face turned pale, and he was panting heavily, clearly exhausted. After a long pause, Liang Yihan took a deep breath and recited a spell with difficulty. The scroll opened slightly, revealing a pattern that was only about three inches long.

Under the dazzling blue light, the pattern vaguely resembled the corner of a mountain peak, with a wide waterfall cascading down the mountainside, creating a misty atmosphere.

Liang Yihan formed a hand seal and struggled to utter the last word of the incantation. The scroll shook, and suddenly a surge of water rushed out. When the water first emerged from the scroll, it was only half a foot wide, but as more and more water flowed out, the water became more than ten feet wide, like a rushing river, sweeping towards the many little people in the passage with a "whoosh".

The surging waves were so powerful and wide that they enveloped the entire passage. The numerous little figures had no time to dodge and were instantly swept away by the waves.

Liang Yihan staggered, then pulled Xuan Yuanhao, and the two hurriedly retreated until they reached the beginning of the passage.

Soon, the water surged and filled the entire passage. Liang Yihan watched as the water surge was about to rush towards him and Xuan Yuanhao. He quickly recited a spell, and the water surge stopped immediately, returning to the blue scroll as if a whale were sucking water in.

Liang Yihan waved his hand, and the cyan scroll flew over and was stored in his storage ring.

Liang Yihan's face was pale. He took a deep breath, shook his weak arm, and said with a bitter smile, "Let's go, Haozi."

Xuan Yuanhao turned to Liang Yihan and saw that she looked unwell. He asked with concern, "Yihan, don't you need to rest?"

"No need," Liang Yihan shook his head and said, "There are two other groups searching for the Imperial Seal of the State. Let's hurry up."

“Alright.” Xuan Yuanhao nodded and followed Liang Yihan forward.
