At this moment, Sheng Yang came to Li Molin and said with a smile, "Thank you, young master, for leading the demons to help our dragon clan. Only then were we able to preserve the Immortal Fruit."
"Chief Shengyang, there's no need for such formalities," Li Molin said calmly, then turned to look at the Undying Vine. The Undying Fruits on the Undying Vine, which were originally white, had now turned into seven colors. Beneath a thin, cicada-wing-like peel, colorful light flowed within, making it look dazzling.
As he was watching, Li Molin felt someone tug at the hem of his clothes. He looked down and saw that Liuli's small face still had tear stains, but the redness and swelling in her eyes had subsided slightly. Her eyes were filled with concern as she asked softly, "Li Molin, are you alright?"
Li Molin was stunned for a moment, then a sudden warmth filled his heart. There were so many people on this island, including his closest subordinates, yet no one could perceive the trace of sorrow in his heart—his mother, in order to obtain the Immortal Fruit, had ultimately turned against him. It turned out that in her heart, he was not as important as an Immortal Fruit.
The gloom in Li Molin's heart gradually dissipated. He smiled gently and said softly, "I'm fine. How about you? Are you still sad?"
Upon hearing this, Liuli pouted. She released her grip on Li Molin's clothes, turned to look at the Immortal Fruit in the pool, and slumped over, appearing utterly powerless. After a moment, her voice drifted over, still not very happy, but she said, "I'm not sad anymore."
Li Molin smiled and shook his head. He turned to Sheng Yang, who had come to his side, and said, "The Immortal Fruit should be ripe by now. Can we pick it?"
"Yes." Sheng Yang had just responded when several young men and women from the Flood Dragon Clan hurriedly chimed in:
"Chieftain, let me go and pick the Immortal Fruit."
"Chief, I'll go pick some..."
"Let me go, Chieftain!"
"..."
Sheng Yang shook his head and laughed, "You can all pick them together. There are only thirty-four left... Be careful not to damage the Immortal Fruits!"
"knew!"
"Don't worry, clan leader."
"..."
The group of young men and women from the Jiaolong clan quickly surrounded the Undying Vine, and several hands plucked all thirty-four Undying Fruits in no time.
The Immortal Vine yields thirty-six fruits per season. After Liu Lingying stole two, the remaining thirty-four fruits were divided equally: the Flood Dragon Clan received seventeen, and Li Molin received seventeen. Li Molin entrusted eleven fruits to two demon generals to take back to the Demon Realm, keeping six for himself.
Li Molin ordered the demons to either return to the Demon Realm or continue their journeys back to the Central Plains, keeping an eye out for signs of the emergence of the extraordinary treasure. Thus, apart from the Flood Dragon Clan, only Li Molin, Yu Ke, Ji Jue, Liu Li, A Hua, and Lang Yuan remained on the island.
Many young members of the Jiaolong clan began busily cleaning up the corpses and bloodstains on the island. They sifted through the ground, searching for usable weapons or complete relics, golden cores, and nascent souls from the corpses of the righteous side. As they did this, the youths chatted and laughed, their lively voices and the gentle sea breeze washing away the grim atmosphere of the battlefield on the island.
Li Molin gave Yu Ke, Ji Jue, and Lang Yuan each an Immortal Fruit. Then he walked to the edge of the pool, sat down between Ahua and Liuli, and held out his left hand, presenting the Immortal Fruit in his palm to Ahua. Ahua paused for a moment, opened her mouth, took the Immortal Fruit, and ran away.
Li Molin held out his right hand to Liuli's eyes, holding two Immortal Fruits. He smiled gently and said, "Here, eat them. I promised you, so you can have mine too."
Liuli took an immortal fruit from his hand with a sullen expression and said in a low voice, "I can eat one, you can eat one too."
Li Molin shook his head, handed the remaining Immortal Fruit forward, and said with a smile, "I promised you, you can have them all."
Liuli nudged his hand and said, "You eat...you have one."
Li Molin hesitated for a moment, then smiled and nodded, reaching back to grasp the Immortal Fruit and taking a small bite. The Immortal Fruit melted instantly in his mouth, bringing a sweet and sour sensation; the taste was refreshing and invigorating. After a few chews, he felt a sense of clarity and well-being throughout his body. Next, he swallowed the Immortal Fruit, feeling a rich spiritual energy enter his stomach, spreading and warming his entire body.
Liuli took a small bite of the Immortal Fruit. She lowered her eyes to look at the rich spiritual energy in the pool, and while chewing the fruit, she asked in a low, indistinct voice, "Little monk... did he run away?"
Li Molin's smiling face darkened. He was silent for a moment, then replied in a low voice, "They ran away."
Liuli secretly breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Oh."
The Immortal Fruit wasn't large, and Liuli finished it in a few bites. She felt a rich spiritual energy instantly fill her body after the fruit dissolved in her stomach. That spiritual energy was quickly absorbed by her body, increasing her internal spiritual power.
She clapped her hands, hesitated for a moment, then turned to look at Li Molin and asked cautiously, "Li Molin, was that woman just now... your mother?"
Li Molin's eyelashes fluttered, and his breathing became slightly erratic. After a moment of silence, he replied in a low voice, "Yes, how did you know?"
Liuli replied, "She called you Lin'er."
"Heh." Li Molin shook his head and smiled, his expression mocking. He said in a low voice, "What 'Lin'er'? You call him that so affectionately, but you show no mercy."
Liuli tilted her head to look at his profile, and clearly saw a trace of sorrow in his eyes. She couldn't bear it, so she patted his shoulder and comforted him, "Li Molin, don't be sad. I don't think your mother hurt you. It's you who kept stopping her and pushed her to the edge."
Li Molin sneered, "In the end, in her heart, I'm not even as good as an immortal fruit."
Liuli said helplessly, "Don't think like that. Try to think from your mother's perspective. The Taoist sect has lost so many young elite disciples. If they have the opportunity to obtain the Immortal Fruit but fail to do so, wouldn't all these casualties have been for nothing?"
Li Molin lowered his eyes and pondered for a while, then muttered to himself, "Anyway, she's just a heartless woman!"
Looking at his manner of speaking, Liuli thought he was acting like a sulking child, and shook her head helplessly. After a pause, she said with some surprise, "But during the battle just now, I saw that none of you demons went easy on your mother. Even Yu Ke and Ji Jue weren't polite to her. Even though she's left the Demon Realm, she's still your mother!"
Li Molin shook his head and replied in a low voice, "She rarely saw people when she was in the clan. Apart from the people around my father, not many people knew her. Even Yu Ke and Ji Jue only came to me after she left."
"No wonder." Liuli nodded in realization. She patted Li Molin's shoulder heavily and comforted him, "Anyway, don't be sad anymore."
Li Molin turned to look at her, his eyes warm, and said gently, "Okay."
The sea breeze was moist and gentle, lightly brushing against his cheeks, and along with the concern in Liuli's eyes, it warmed Li Molin's heart.
