Chapter 19 The Little Monk

Shi Chan had been keeping a close eye on the faintly visible demonic aura high above, fully on guard against its sudden appearance to snatch the relics. However, after standing still for a moment, the demon showed no intention of revealing itself. He was slightly taken aback. His master had repeatedly said that Buddhist relics were the best tonics for demons and monsters, so if he were to fight them one day, he should not let his own relics fall into their hands, even if it meant burning them to ashes.

After a moment of silence, Shi Chan walked over and took the four relics into his arms, whispering, "Don't worry, my four fellow disciples, Shi Chan will definitely deliver your relics back to the temple safely..."

He turned his head and saw the corpses of the three demons. A look of pity appeared in his eyes. With a wave of his hand, golden flames appeared out of thin air and burned the three corpses to ashes. Only fine ashes remained on the spot, which were blown away by the wind and scattered throughout the forest.

Shi Chan turned around, put his hands together in a Buddhist salute, and said loudly, "Your Excellency has been watching for too long. May you now show yourself?"

Liuli was taken aback. So he knew she had been here all along. But seeing his low cultivation level, she hesitated, wondering if he was really talking about her, and did not reveal herself.

Shi Chan raised his head and smiled slightly. He flicked his prayer beads and they flew out, transforming into a golden tiger that pounced on the glass tree trunk.

Liuli floated up lightly, dodging the tiger's pounce. A mischievous glint appeared in her eyes, and a wicked smile played on her lips as she flew straight toward Shichan. When her cheek was only a foot away from Shichan's face, a flash of white light appeared, and she revealed herself, exhaling a warm breath at Shichan before landing on the ground with a wicked grin.

Her breath was as fragrant as orchids, and her aroma was delightful.

Suddenly, a pretty little face appeared before Shi Chan. Her eyes were slanted upwards, and her deep black eyes held a mischievous smile. Her small mouth curled into a wicked smile as she looked at him with a playful expression.

At this moment, the golden tiger turned around and transformed into a string of Buddhist prayer beads, which floated over lightly. However, no one went to catch it. The prayer beads circled around Shi Chan somewhat blankly before falling to the ground with a "thud".

With a sharp crack, Shi Chan suddenly came to his senses, his cheeks flushing red. He hurriedly took a step back, picked up the prayer beads, clasped his hands together, and chanted Buddhist mantras repeatedly.

Liuli laughed crisply, clapping her hands and saying, "The little monk is blushing, haha, how funny!"

Shi Chan's face showed slight anger. He formed a mudra with his hands and chanted Buddhist mantras. The prayer beads in his hand flew out and the swastikas spun in the air. In the blink of an eye, they transformed into various Buddhist treasures such as golden wheels, victory banners, and vajras, all of which rushed towards Liuli.

Liuli nimbly dodged among the various Buddhist treasures, and while dodging, she raised her voice and asked, "Hey little monk, why did you hit me?"

Shi Chan's hands kept changing hand seals, and he replied in a deep voice, "Your Excellency is a demon, and this humble monk naturally cannot tolerate you."

Liuli was somewhat annoyed and said unhappily, "You monk are so unreasonable. Although I am a demon, I have never harmed a single person. Why can't you tolerate me?"

Shi Chan was taken aback, and his movements slowed slightly. After a moment's pause, he changed his hand seal again and said in a deep voice, "A demon is a demon. As a righteous person, I cannot let it go unchecked. I apologize!"

Even though Liuli had a great liking for monks, she was still angered by these words. She took out the Winged Spirit Whip, and with a sharp crack, she lashed it out, causing the various Buddhist treasures to shake and their golden light to dim.

With a cold expression, Liuli rushed out of the encirclement of the Buddha's treasures, her long whip flashing out a shadow that coiled towards Shichan like a serpent.

Startled, Shi Chan hurriedly summoned back his prayer beads and retreated hastily. However, his cultivation level was lower than Liuli's, a whole realm below hers. His speed was nowhere near as fast as Liuli's whip shadows, and in the end, he was completely bound by the whip shadows and could not break free no matter what he did.

Shi Chan's cheeks flushed red, and despite his struggles, the whip only tightened its grip, making it impossible for him to break free.

"Hmph!" Liuli snorted coldly, approached Shichan, and said with a cold face, "Little monk, you're now in my hands, aren't you? According to your logic, I should kill you, or at the very least snatch the relic from your arms, right?"

Shi Chan angrily said, "You monster, shut up! If you want to kill me, then kill me! But even if I die, I will burn all the relics to ashes, and I will never let them fall into your hands!"

Liuli coldly said, "Little monk, let me tell you, I won't kill you today, nor will I steal your relic. Just open your dog eyes and take a good look. Does being a demon necessarily mean being evil? Hmph! What is the righteous path, and what is the evil path? Even if I am a demon, I have saved human lives from the jaws of ferocious beasts several times! If we follow your logic, I should also be on the righteous path!"

With anger burning in her heart, Liuli turned away with a hostile expression, transforming into a white ray of light and flying far away in an instant.

Not long after she left, the whip that had bound Shichan slowly dissipated, leaving Shichan standing there, bewildered. Indeed, she should have killed him and taken the relics, but why did she simply leave like that?

Even among demons, are there good ones?
