The room was simply furnished with a bed, a table, a chair, and a basin stand by the door with a wooden basin on it and a coarse cloth towel draped over it. Besides these furnishings, there were some odds and ends piled up in the corner of the room.
As soon as Li Molin entered, his gaze fell on the wooden bed at the far end of the room. Upon seeing Liuli sleeping soundly on the bed, his heart settled, and a joyful smile unconsciously appeared on his face.
Since yesterday afternoon, Liuli had been searching the world for Shichan, but she couldn't find him even late into the night. Exhausted, Liuli finally arrived at this village and asked to stay at this farmhouse to rest. Because she was so tired, Liuli fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow and is still sleeping soundly.
Looking at her sleeping soundly, Li Molin felt utterly helpless. He had been searching for her all night, and here she was, fast asleep.
With a hint of revenge in his eyes, Li Molin's face darkened as he walked to the bedside and called out loudly, "Liuli!"
Liuli frowned slightly and slowly opened her eyes. Through her blurry vision, she spotted Li Molin, her bewildered eyes blinking a few times.
"Li Molin!" Liuli reacted quickly. She sat up abruptly, looked at Li Molin in surprise, and stammered, "You... what are you doing here?"
"How did I get here? How do you think I got here?" Li Molin asked coldly.
Liuli felt guilty and extremely ashamed. Her gaze darted away, avoiding Li Molin's eyes, and she stammered, "I...Li Molin, I..."
After stammering for a moment, she looked up at Li Molin, her little face scrunched up in a pleading expression, and said pitifully, "I was wrong..."
"You're wrong?" A smile flickered in Li Molin's eyes, but his face remained stern as he asked, "Where did you go wrong?"
With a pout, Liuli obediently replied, "I shouldn't have run away secretly."
"Sister." At this moment, Lingxi jumped onto Liuli's lap. She looked up at Liuli and said with concern, "Sister, please don't run away again. We are all very worried about you."
Liuli patted Lingxi's head and smiled, "I know."
Li Molin shook his head, turned around and said, "Never mind, let's go."
Upon hearing this, Liuli paused, remained silent for a moment, then shook her head and said, "I'm not leaving."
"What did you say?" Li Molin paused for a moment, but did not turn around. He frowned and asked.
Liuli's expression was firm as she said, "I'm not leaving. I'm going to find the little monk."
Li Molin suddenly turned around, his face filled with anger, and said in a deep voice, "He has repeatedly hurt you, why do you still want to see him?"
A hint of worry appeared in Liuli's eyes as she said, "The little monk has been expelled from Bodhi Temple. I must find him; he must be very sad right now..."
"Expelled from Bodhi Temple?" Li Molin was taken aback and asked, "How do you know he was expelled from Bodhi Temple?"
Liuli replied, "A young monk from Bodhi Temple told me."
Li Molin shook his head and said, "You don't need to look for him anymore. You've been deceived. He was never expelled from Bodhi Temple."
Liuli tilted her head, puzzled, and asked, "Li Molin, how did you know?"
Li Molin said in a deep voice, "You don't need to know how I know. You just need to believe me. That monk was definitely not expelled from Bodhi Temple."
"I don't believe it." Liuli shook her head and said, "It was a young monk from Bodhi Temple who told me himself, how could it be false?"
With a heart full of sarcasm, Li Molin blurted out, "How could a monk who was expelled from the temple have no loss of cultivation, and his mind is still clear, and even his weapon was not taken away?"
Liu Li looked puzzled, her mind racing for a moment before she asked hesitantly, "Li Molin, it's like you've seen the little monk before?"
Li Molin paused for a moment, realizing he had spoken out of turn. After a moment of silence, he nodded and said, "That's right. I saw him on my way to find you. His cultivation was not crippled, his weapon was not taken back, and his mind was clear. He was definitely not expelled from the temple."
Liuli was overjoyed and asked urgently, "You've seen the little monk? Then tell me where he is, I need to tell him something!"
Li Molin's gaze flickered, and he remained silent.
Liuli looked down at Lingxi and pressed, "Lingxi, tell me, where is the little monk?"
Lingxi avoided Liuli's gaze and lowered her head, not daring to speak.
Liuli sensed something was wrong, and her face gradually darkened. She looked up at Li Molin and asked with a hint of pleading, "Li Molin, please tell me where the little monk is. I just want to see him one more time. I really have something very important to tell him."
Li Molin remained silent for a while before lowering his eyes and replying, "I saw him yesterday, and a night has passed. How would I know where he is?"
“It’s alright.” Liuli pressed on, “Just tell me where you saw him yesterday, and I’ll go look for him in that area.”
Looking at the sparkling light in Liuli's eyes and the expectation on her face, Li Molin felt a surge of anger. That monk had repeatedly hurt her, yet she still cared about him so much, insisting on seeing him no matter what.
Li Molin let anger and a hint of jealousy cloud his judgment. He turned away and said in a deep voice, "You don't need to look for him anymore. You'll never find him again!"
"What do you mean?" Liuli's heart sank. She looked up at Li Molin's back, but after a long silence, she looked down at Lingxi and asked with a frown, "Lingxi, tell me, what exactly happened?"
Lingxi lowered her head and still dared not speak.
"Speak!" Liuli shouted urgently, "Lingxi, tell me, did you fight with the little monk?"
Lingxi shuddered and remained silent.
Liuli looked up at Li Molin and said sharply, "Li Molin, did you kill the little monk?!"
Li Molin put his hands behind his back and remained silent.
Liuli picked up Lingxi and placed her aside. She threw back the covers and got out of bed. Barefoot, she walked up to Li Molin, her face filled with anger, and demanded sharply, "Li Molin, tell me, did you kill the little monk?! Did you really?"
Li Molin was already angry, and Liuli's question only fueled his rage. He said in a deep voice, "That's right, I killed him. What are you going to do about it? Are you going to kill me too?!"
A sudden explosion went through Liuli's mind. She stumbled and almost fell to the ground. Large tears streamed down her face. Her voice choked with sobs as she said in disbelief, "You killed the little monk, you killed him..."
Seeing Liuli's extremely sad appearance, Li Molin finally couldn't bear it. His expression softened and he said gently, "Liuli, don't be sad. That monk has hurt you many times. He deserves to die."
“You killed him…” Liuli cried out in anguish, looking up at the sky, “You killed him, you killed my Bailing…”
In her extreme grief, a sliver of hope suddenly flickered in Liuli's heart. Through her teary eyes, she looked at Li Molin and choked out, "Li Molin, are you lying to me? You won't kill the little monk, right? You know I'll be heartbroken if he dies, you won't kill him... right?"
Li Molin paused for a moment, then remained silent.
