A heavy snowfall turned Fox Plains white, with frost clinging to the verdant grass, swaying gently in the cold wind. Numerous bloodstained fox corpses lay scattered throughout the plains; even after half a day of snowfall, the crimson stain could not be completely concealed. From the sky, the scattered red spots mixed with the white snow resembled blooming blood-red flowers.
When Li Molin, Liu Li, and the other two demons arrived at Fox Plains, this was the scene they encountered.
Liuli walked slowly through the white snow, her eyes falling upon the corpses of white foxes. She didn't know why, but her heart was filled with extreme sorrow. She didn't even realize when the tears started flowing. In the blink of an eye, her face was covered in tears.
As she stepped over the corpses of white foxes, Liuli's sorrow turned into indignation. When she arrived at the heart of the Fox Plains and saw the corpse of a six-tailed fox, her indignation transformed into overwhelming hatred, a hatred that nearly shattered her chest, as if a raging fire was burning fiercely within her heart, scorching her soul.
Even though Liuli was filled with negative emotions after her rebirth, Fox Plains was still her home, the place where she had lived for over four hundred years. Moreover, these dead white foxes were all her own kind, and even if it was just instinct, she should have been furious when she saw such a scene.
She was indeed extremely angry at this moment, her whole body radiating resentment. She knelt on the ground, gently stroking the six-tailed fox's cold body, hot tears streaming down her face, but unable to warm her corpse.
She vaguely remembered the six-tailed fox's ever-gentle eyes when she looked at her, and her unconditional doting and indulgence. But now she lay here so helplessly, and that gentle gaze was gone forever.
Liuli spoke in a hateful voice, hoarse with anger, as if squeezed out from between her teeth, asking each word clearly: "Who did this? Who did all of this?!"
Li Molin didn't learn from the Demon Feather Bird which side killed the nine-tailed foxes, but based on his guess and the fragments of Buddhist artifacts found on the ground, he knew it must have been the Buddhist sect. After a moment of silence, Li Molin's eyes flickered, and he said in a deep voice, "It was that monk Shi Chan who led a group of bald Buddhist monks to do it!"
A terrifying grinding sound came from Liuli's mouth, her face almost contorted with resentment. She roared to the sky, "Shichan! You bald monks of Buddhism! I, Liuli, am irreconcilably opposed to you!!"
She stood up angrily and immediately went to fight the Buddhist disciples.
"Liuli!" Li Molin grabbed Liuli's arm and said in a deep voice, "If you want to avenge your people and make enemies of the entire Buddhist community in the Central Plains, you need to think this through carefully!"
Liuli gasped for breath, her eyes bloodshot with rage. After a moment's thought, she cried out in a shrill, furious voice, "Then let's find that monk Shichan first and kill him! I'll kill him! Kill him!!"
“Alright.” Li Molin nodded and said, “I will take you to find Monk Shichan now.”
Before Li Molin could finish speaking, several demonic feathered birds, leading a beam of black light, suddenly descended from the sky and landed in front of Li Molin and the others.
As the black light dissipated, a tall and imposing man appeared. He wore a blood-red cloak, exuded a chilling aura, and had a sinister expression.
He stared intently at Li Molin's appearance, his face growing increasingly grim and angry. He said in a cold voice, "Lin'er, what's wrong with you?"
“Father…” Li Molin’s gaze darted away, not daring to meet Li Gan’s eyes.
Li Gan coldly said, "The demon you placed in the clan has lost half of its cultivation and essence in a short period of time, and has now fallen to the level of demonic thought. What exactly happened?!"
Li Molin lowered his head deeply, remaining silent and not daring to answer.
Li Gan turned his gaze to Yu Ke and shouted sharply, "Yu Ke, you speak!"
“This…” Yu Ke’s gaze darted to Li Molin, and she didn’t dare to answer for a moment.
"Speak!" Li Gan waved his right hand, and a blood-red blade appeared out of thin air at Yu Ke's neck. His expression was cold and he said in a chilling voice, "If you don't speak, I will kill you immediately!"
Yu Ke stiffened, but since Li Molin wouldn't speak, how could he possibly open his mouth?
When Li Gan waited a long time for Yu Ke's reply, his gaze turned cold, and he was about to make a move with his right hand.
“Father!” Li Molin looked up hurriedly and answered in a deep voice, “I…I used a soul-summoning spell.”
"A soul-summoning ritual?" Li Gan's icy gaze swept over Ji Jue, Lang Yuan, and Ling Xi, finally settling on Liu Li. He pointed at Liu Li and asked in a chilling voice, "Is it all to save her?"
Li Molin stepped aside, blocking Liuli's view, and nodded, replying in a low voice, "Yes..."
With a flick of Li Gan's right hand, the blood-red blade shadow that had been floating around Yu Ke's neck suddenly moved, about to pierce Liu Li's back.
Liuli sensed the cold light and instinctively tried to dodge, but Li Molin was one step ahead of her. He had already hugged her and quickly turned around, shielding her in his arms and using his back to block the blade's shadow.
The blood-red blade stopped just a foot away from Li Molin's back, continuing to spin on its own.
"Lin'er!" Li Gan called out in a cold voice, his eyes icy.
Li Molin held Liuli tightly in his arms. He looked at Li Gan and said in a deep voice, "Liuli was saved by Lin'er with half his life. She is Lin'er's life! If Father wants to kill her, he will be killing Lin'er!"
Li Gan was furious. He said coldly, "It is an ancestral precept of our demon race not to be too deeply in love. Do you even remember one thing?! You love her too much, and she is your scourge. Sooner or later she will take your life! I am killing her today for your own good. Get out of my way!!"
