Chapter 253 Arrogance

The appearance of Shi Fan caused widespread panic. People in the open space in front of the hall screamed and tried to get away. However, in no time, several ordinary humans and outer disciples died at Shi Fan's hands.

Soon, the many inner disciples who were meditating in the meditation rooms on the back mountain were disturbed and came to the front hall one after another.

When Shi Ning rushed to the front hall and saw the scene, his expression changed drastically. He quickly calmed down and shouted, "All disciples of Bodhi Temple, listen up! Those with lower cultivation levels, escort all the pilgrims down the mountain. Those with higher cultivation levels, subdue Junior Brother Shi Fan. Remember, do not harm him. Let's see what's going on!"

The disciples responded, and those with lower cultivation levels stepped back to gather the panicked pilgrims and escort them down the mountain path. Meanwhile, the disciples with cultivation levels above the Buddha Heart Realm surrounded the crazed Shi Fan, calling his name repeatedly, their faces filled with confusion.

Although there were many disciples surrounding and blocking Shi Fan, they were unwilling to harm him. However, Shi Fan's subordinates were ruthless and uncompromising, so they were forced to fight with restraint.

Liuli sat on the nine-colored lotus platform, watching the chaos below Bodhi Temple with satisfaction, until finally a disciple of the temple who had reached the Buddha Heart Realm was killed by Shifan. Liuli raised her eyebrows slightly and revealed a cold smile.

Just then, a golden light flew swiftly from the distant sky. Soon, the golden light arrived behind Liuli, and with a flash, the figure of a gray-robed monk appeared.

Shi Chan first looked down at the chaos in Bodhi Temple, and when he saw the crazed Shi Fan, his expression changed.

A look of extreme heartache and disbelief appeared on Shi Chan's face. He slowly raised his head to look at Liuli's back and called out softly, "Miss Liuli."

Liuli, focused on the chaos on the ground, had ignored the sound of something cutting through the air behind her. Hearing the sound, she frowned, and the lotus platform beneath her flashed, instantly turning her around. Upon seeing Shichan, Liuli's gaze turned cold, and she sneered, "Monk Shichan!"

With a sorrowful expression, Shi Chan said in a low voice, "These past few days, I've heard that you've killed many Buddhist disciples, and I didn't believe it at first... But what I've seen today... Miss, was this chaos in Bodhi Temple something you started?"

"Not bad!" Liuli sneered, "How about it? Isn't this scene quite interesting? Watching you hypocrites from the Buddhist sect fight like dogs makes me feel so happy!"

Shi Chan felt a pang of pain in his heart, and his chest tightened. He coughed twice, and said sadly, "Miss Liuli, it's been so many years. What have you been through to become like this?"

"What have I been through?" Liuli sneered, "Don't you, monk, know what I've been through? I kindly saved someone but was killed; my Nine-Tailed Fox Clan, which lived in seclusion, was wiped out! I struggled to survive in a place like the Demon Realm, enduring the burning flames of hatred that seared my heart every day! All of this is thanks to you!"

The figure of Shi Chan, suspended in the air, swayed slightly. His face was full of sorrow, and his voice was hoarse as he whispered, "This humble monk understands. It is all my fault that you have become like this. I just wonder, if you kill me, will it dispel the hatred in your heart?"

Liuli sneered, "Of course I will kill you, but killing you is not enough! I will make the entire Buddhist community of the Central Plains perish for my Nine-Tailed Fox Clan!"

“Girl…” Shi Chan felt a pang of despair and said mournfully, “When will this cycle of revenge end…”

Liuli said coldly, "You're the ones who started this feud, and now you want to say such things? Isn't that ridiculous?!"

Shi Chan was in excruciating pain, filled with remorse for Liuli's current state. He vaguely remembered a woman with bright eyes and a radiant smile; her brows and eyes were lively and mischievous, her pupils darting about like exquisite gems. But in the blink of an eye, she had transformed into the woman before him, her gaze cold and menacing, her entire being radiating a chilling aura.

All of this was caused by him, Shi Chan; he was the one who forcibly turned her into this state.

He clasped his hands together, bowed deeply to Liuli, and said in a low voice, "For many years, I have felt remorse and unease about your death. I have no way to make up for this guilt. I only ask that you kill me. I will never fight back. This will only ease the hatred in your heart."

For the past twenty years, Liuli had been thinking about how exhilarating it would be to kill Shichan with her own hands one day. But when that day came, she felt no joy at all. Instead, she felt a slight discomfort and a barely perceptible reluctance.

Liuli frowned and said coldly, "Fine, I'll grant your wish to die!"

With a wave of her hand, a crescent-shaped black light blade silently appeared and rushed towards Shi Chan, leaving behind a series of afterimages in the air.

Suddenly, a cry of surprise erupted from the Bodhi Temple below: "It's the extraordinary treasure that appeared that day!"

"Is that... a wicked fox?"

"Yes, that is the evil fox!"

"Kill her! Take back the treasure!"

"Yes, kill her!"

The black blade of light suddenly stopped about a foot away from Shi Chan. The sound on the ground appeared at just the right moment, causing Liu Li to stop her attack, even though the blade of light could have struck the motionless Shi Chan's neck in an instant and taken his life.

Liuli didn't know why she stopped, but as the light blade rushed towards Shichan, the uncomfortable feeling in her heart grew stronger and stronger, making her extremely uneasy.

The blade of light lingered for a moment, then with a wave of her hand, it vanished silently. She snorted coldly, glanced at Shi Chan, then withdrew her gaze, sat down on the lotus platform, shifted direction, and descended over a hundred feet.

The lotus platform upon which Liuli sat descended to a height of about fifty or sixty feet above the Bodhi Temple. She slowly stood up, her black robes billowing in the wind, her black hair flying wildly behind her. Her gaze turned cold as she looked at the disciples of the Bodhi Temple on the ground, and she shouted, "Becoming a Buddha is difficult, but becoming a demon is easy! As long as I, Liuli, live, I will drive you Buddhist monks mad one by one, and what happened today will continue to unfold. I will watch you kill each other until you are all dead or wounded!"

Shi Ning's face was icy cold as he shouted, "Leave a few men to capture Junior Brother Shi Fan, the rest of you go up and kill that vile fox!"

Liuli's words cast a shadow over the hearts of all the Bodhi Temple disciples, making them exceptionally united in their hatred. Soon, except for a dozen or so disciples at the Buddhist Heart Realm or above who were still surrounding Shi Fan, trying to capture him, everyone else took to the air, shouting in unison, "Kill the evil fox! If the evil fox doesn't die, our Buddha will not be at peace!"

Liuli laughed loudly, and after she finished laughing, she looked at the many Buddhist disciples and said with a wicked smile, "Thanks to your Buddhist treasure, which is this nine-colored lotus platform, I'm afraid you still can't kill me! Hahaha!"

Accompanied by Liuli's extremely arrogant laughter, the lotus platform shone brightly, carrying her rapidly into the sky, and in an instant, it disappeared into the distance.

At that moment, all the Buddhist disciples had just taken to the air.
