Chapter 262 Taking on the Responsibility

Just then, the gray-robed monk from Bodhi Temple suddenly raised the wooden mallet even higher and struck the wooden fish with force.

With a "thump," ripples emanated from the wooden fish and quickly spread to Liuli's ears.

Liuli felt a sharp pain in her head. Her body swayed, and she could no longer stand up. She collapsed to her knees on the lotus platform.

Ge Yiyuan was already curled up in a ball on the lotus platform, his hands covering his head, unconsciously groaning in pain, "That damned sound...stop it..."

Golden light surged from the yellow-robed monk's hand into his staff. He raised the staff high and smashed it once more into the light of the nine-colored lotus platform.

The nine-colored light swayed for a moment, and then grew weaker and weaker.

The monk didn't stop, and slammed down again with a heavy blow.

At this point, the nine-colored light finally shattered, turning into tiny specks of various colors that scattered like fluorescent light and vanished in the blink of an eye.

A murderous glint flashed in the yellow-robed monk's eyes. He raised his staff, ready to smash it down on Liuli.

At that moment, Liuli's brows were furrowed and her eyes were closed. The golden light of the demon-subduing array, the sound of Buddhist music, and the sound of the wooden fish were making her head ache. She knelt on the lotus platform, supporting her body with one hand and striking her temples heavily with the other, trying to drive the annoying sounds out of her mind and make her feel better.

With a whoosh, the staff was about to strike Liuli's head. If the blow hit, Liuli would surely die.

Suddenly, a dazzling robe flew over and blocked the staff between the glass and the monk's staff.

Because the golden light was composed of Buddhist light, it did not hinder the Buddhist disciples. Thus, a golden light carrying a gray shadow passed through the net without any hindrance and landed directly in front of the nine-colored lotus platform.

"Buddhism!"

The sound of the wooden fish temporarily ceased, and the abbot of Bodhi Temple stared angrily at the tall, thin, gray-robed monk in front of the lotus platform, shouting, "Take back the Seven-Jeweled Kasaya and get out of the way immediately!"

Shi Chan stood with his hands clasped together in front of the lotus platform. His expression was firm. He said, "Miss Liuli was originally kind-hearted. She came to save me with good intentions, but I accidentally killed her. She became what she is now because she resented me and my Buddhist sect for destroying the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan."

"The current situation is due to the mistakes of our Buddhist community. How can we continue to make the same mistake and commit further acts of killing?"

The sound of the wooden fish stopped. The Buddhist music alone was not enough to make Liuli lose her senses. She felt a little better and opened her eyes in a daze. She saw a golden scene in front of her, which was exceptionally dazzling.

Immediately afterwards, that clear and firm voice reached her ears, word by word. Liuli could tell that this voice was the deepest memory in her mind, so she quickly realized that the speaker was Shi Chan.

The elder of Jinyuan Temple, his face contorted with anger, shouted, "Shichan, you have been bewitched by this evil fox spirit and are now obsessed! This humble monk has no desire to say more to you. Quickly step aside. Considering the good deeds you have done for our Buddhist sect, we may let you go! However, if you refuse to leave, do not blame us for being impolite!"

"Amitabha!" Shi Chan chanted a Buddhist prayer, bowed deeply in reverence, then raised his head with a firm gaze and said, word by word, "This humble monk owes you a life. You are in this state because of me, and I should bear the full responsibility for the sins you have committed! If you still wish to attack, then come at me!"

Liuli vaguely heard these words and was stunned for a moment. A strange feeling quietly arose in her heart. She didn't know what it was, but she felt a warmth in her heart, a warmth that was inexplicable.

The nun in blue turned to look at the elder of Bodhi Temple and said with a solemn expression, "Brother Zhinian, this child cannot be allowed to live!"

Zhi Nian's face turned ugly, and he said in a cold voice, "He is no longer a disciple of my Bodhi Temple. There's no need for you to say any more to this humble monk. Just make your move!"

The monks looked at Shi Chan with intense anger, many of them expressing their frustration at his lack of ambition. Upon hearing Zhi Nian's words, the crowd responded in unison, their voices booming, "Yes!"

Shi Chan showed no fear. Even when facing so many opponents, he did not back down, but simply protected her firmly behind him.

Guided by his will, the Seven Treasures Kasaya suddenly moved and automatically tied to Liuli's body, wrapping around her to protect her.

As the seven-jeweled kasaya flashed past her eyes, Liuli looked up and saw a tall, thin monk in gray robes standing firmly in front of her.

Liuli narrowed her eyes, her expression complex.

The elder in yellow robes then announced, "Half of you, withdraw from the Demon-Subduing Formation and stop Shi Chan. The rest of you, continue operating the Demon-Subduing Formation and run it as fast as possible!"

"Yes!" the crowd responded. Half of them withdrew from the formation and quickly surrounded Shi Chan, while the rest began to transfer all the Buddhist power in their bodies to the demon-subduing talisman in front of them. For a moment, the valley was filled with bright Buddhist light and the sound of Buddhist music was exceptionally loud.

As the sound rang out, Liuli felt another headache coming on. She knelt down on the lotus platform, clutching her head in her hands, writhing in pain.

Just then, the Seven Treasures Kasaya flashed with golden light, which gently enveloped Liuli's head. At that moment, all sounds faded away, and Liuli felt a sense of relief. She released her hands from her head and slowly sat up straight.

She searched ahead for a moment and soon spotted the tall, thin monk in gray robes among the many shifting figures. He was struggling to defend himself against an attack by more than a hundred people, who were showing no mercy and no mercy whatsoever.
