At this moment, more than a dozen Yuandao Sect disciples had walked up behind Liang Yihan. Four of them stepped forward and grabbed the ropes binding Lang Yuan, Yu Xin, Ji Jue, and Ge Yiyuan, leaving only Liuli and Lingxi.
"Senior Brother Han?" A disciple of the Yuandao Sect stood beside Liuli and Lingxi, hesitant and unsure of what to do.
Although these dozen or so Yuandao Sect disciples were Liang Yihan's confidants, it was hard to guarantee that they wouldn't let slip some gossip within the sect. If Liang Yihan blatantly let Lingxi go and allowed the spirit cat to escape without catching it, such rumors would spread throughout the sect, which would be extremely detrimental to his chances of taking over as sect leader.
After a long silence, Liang Yihan's expression grew increasingly grim. Finally, with a somber look, he said in a low voice, "Capture them and take them back to the mountain immediately!"
Lingxi frowned, felt a pang of pain in her heart, and finally felt utterly hopeless.
"Yes." The dozen or so disciples responded in unison. The disciple standing next to Liuli then grabbed the ropes binding her. He saw that everyone else had taken off one after another, so he took off as well, grabbing Lingxi, who was tightly holding Liuli, and flew into the sky on his sword.
Liang Yihan turned to face the many Buddhist disciples, cupped his hands in greeting, and announced, "Farewell."
"Amitabha!" The Buddhist disciples chanted a Buddhist prayer and said in unison, "Thank you for saving us, Fellow Daoist Liang. Farewell!"
Liuli was held firmly by a Taoist disciple, which enraged her. Pulled by the Yuandao Sect disciple, she was involuntarily sent flying into the sky, leaving behind a furious shout: "Liang Yihan, if I, Liuli, manage to escape, I will definitely not let you off!"
Liang Yihan ignored Liuli's angry shouts, then flew up, following the dozen or so streaks of light of various colors in the sky.
In the sky, a dozen or so demonic feathered birds that had been following Liuli and the others let out a series of sharp cries. They circled in a circle for a while, then flapped their wings and flew north, while others chased after Liuli and the others.
Liang Yihan and more than a dozen other beams of light of various colors, along with the dozen or so demonic feathered birds, disappeared into the distance. Because the demonic feathered birds flew high and were small, the Buddhist disciples did not notice them at all.
At that time, these Buddhist disciples began to carefully collect the relics of their fellow disciples, and then, after arranging the corpses one by one, they chanted the Rebirth Mantra in unison.
After reciting the Rebirth Mantra for more than half a time, seven or eight golden rays suddenly flew in from afar, and seven or eight Buddhist disciples landed on the ground one after another. Before these people could even stand up, more golden rays flew in from all directions. In a short period of time, more than twenty young monks arrived here.
Shi Chan then flew over. He was originally searching for traces of Liuli in various parts of the Central Plains when he happened to meet several Buddhist monks discussing that they had found the evil fox. So he quickly followed those monks here.
After Shi Chan landed, Buddhist disciples from all over the Central Plains rushed over. When they saw the corpses all over the ground, they were in an uproar, and most of them showed expressions of righteous indignation.
Shi Chan looked sadly at the corpses scattered on the ground, listening to the conversation between the monks who arrived later and the one who had arrived first. He said:
"So many disciples of our Buddhist sect have died again. Was this the work of that evil fox?"
"Indeed, that damned vixen..."
"Where is that wicked fox? Has it run away again?"
"Could it be that the evil fox used some vicious methods? Otherwise, how could she have killed so many of us?"
"That vixen has used poison!"
"Hmph, she used demonic Gu to kill so many of my Bodhi Temple disciples before, and now she's using poison. How despicable!"
"That vixen deserves to die! Has she escaped? This humble monk will pursue her immediately and vows to kill her!"
"Fellow disciples, rest assured, the evil fox has been taken away by Fellow Daoist Liang Yihan of the Daoist sect. Fellow Daoist Liang promised us that he will definitely deliver the evil fox's head to us in three days!"
"Excellent! With that vile fox dead, our Buddhist sect can finally have some peace!"
"Speaking of which, we really have to thank Fellow Daoist Liang for arriving in time, otherwise we would all be dead at the hands of that wicked fox today!"
"..."
Shi Chan frowned and muttered under his breath, "Liang Yihan..."
He lowered his head, deep in thought for a long while, then bent down and performed a Buddhist salute to the many corpses on the ground, chanting a long Buddhist chant: "Namo Amitabha Buddha!"
After chanting a Buddhist prayer, he turned around and silently flew away, heading towards Qingxu Mountain.
The monks were engrossed in their conversation and none of them noticed Shi Chan's departure. Most of them had resentful expressions and were gritting their teeth as they uttered the words "evil fox" with extreme hatred in their voices, as if the hatred had reached their very bones.
--
Liang Yihan and the other disciples of Yuandao Sect brought Liuli and the others to Qingxu Mountain Range. He kept thinking about Lingxi on the way, and in the end, he did not return to the sect directly. Instead, he found a cave in the mountains and threw Liuli and the other two demons into the cave.
After the Taoist priests who were holding Liuli and the others came out of the cave one after another, Liang Yihan whispered an instruction, saying, "You all stay outside the cave and keep watch."
"Yes," the dozen or so Taoist priests replied in unison.
Liang Yihan was about to walk into the cave when a disciple of the Yuandao Sect, somewhat puzzled, asked, "Senior brother, why don't we return to the sect immediately?"
Liang Yihan paused for a moment, then lowered his eyes and said softly, "Wouldn't it be better if we could bring the divine stone up the mountain directly?"
After saying that, Liang Yihan lowered his head and went into the cave.
The remaining dozen or so disciples of the Yuandao Sect exchanged bewildered glances. What was the difference between bringing the divine stone up the mountain and bringing Liuli and the other demons up the mountain?
