Li Gan's hand twitched, as if he was subconsciously about to pull it back, but after a moment, he stopped and instead went to catch the Chi You flag regardless.
"Your Excellency!"
"Your Majesty, please be careful!"
"..."
All of this seemed to happen slowly, but in reality, it happened in an instant. Only then did the remaining eleven people react. They didn't have time to block the flying swords, and they all changed their expressions and reminded Li Gan to dodge the sharp flying swords. However, Li Gan ignored them and still did not dodge or avoid them.
Just as the sharp flying sword was about to pierce Li Gan's hand, if this strike hit, it would definitely cripple his hand. Moreover, judging from the sharp, light trailing behind the flying sword, its power was astonishing, and it might even sever half of his arm.
The eleven demons were greatly alarmed.
At this critical moment, the silver flying sword suddenly stopped its forward momentum, paused for a moment about three inches away from Li Gan's hand, and then rushed upward, bypassing Li Gan's hand and flying in the direction where it had just appeared.
Li Gan caught the blood-red flag smoothly. He gripped the flagpole tightly, his hands as cold as ice, but a gentle smile slowly appeared on his lips, perhaps because the flying sword had shown mercy.
Li Gan looked down at the small flag in his hand. The flagpole and the flag itself were only about a foot long. The flag was rectangular, about seven inches long and five inches wide. Neither the flagpole nor the flag was made of any material. The flagpole was dark black and extremely cold to the touch. The flag was blood red, covered with intricate black runes that exuded an eerie aura.
After Li Gan caught the Chi You Banner, clear incantations suddenly began to echo in his mind. He knew that these must be the incantations to control the Chi You Banner, so he quickly closed his eyes and listened carefully to the sounds in his mind, memorizing them.
The sound gradually faded until it disappeared, and Li Gan turned his attention away from it, just in time to hear one of the eleven demons behind him exclaim in surprise, "Madam..."
The man quickly realized his slip of the tongue and fell silent after uttering two words.
Li Gan gripped the Chi You Banner tightly and turned around. He saw a woman in green walking quickly from the faint black mist. As the woman's figure approached, she appeared ethereal and indistinct because of the surrounding mist, as if she would disappear in the blink of an eye.
So he stared wide-eyed as she slowly walked towards him, not daring to blink.
He simply gazed at her slender figure, his heart filled with tenderness, even forgetting the ecstasy he had just experienced from the earth-shattering secret he had heard about the Chi You Banner.
Her appearance was still the same, only the untamed spirit in her eyes and brows had faded, making those once-spirited eyebrows appear much softer. Her face was filled with sorrow, an expression he could never have seen on her face when they first met.
Liu Lingying stopped about ten feet away from Li Gan, looked at him with sorrowful eyes, and said in a cold voice, "Li Gan, give me the Chi You Banner!"
The bewilderment in Li Gan's eyes gradually disappeared. He came to his senses, gave a cold laugh, and said, "Impossible!"
The flying sword hovering beside Liu Lingying suddenly moved, circling her once before stopping in front of her, its sharp tip pointing towards Li Gan. Her expression turned cold, her voice filled with hatred, and she said, "Li Gan, I don't want to fight you. Give me the Chi You Banner! Once this banner appears, countless lives will be lost. I, Liu Lingying, will never allow it to be born!"
Li Gan turned to the eleven demons beside him and said in a deep voice, "You all go. Find all the righteous dogs in the demon array and kill them all, leave no one alive!"
The eleven people responded in unison, but a few hesitated and glanced at Liu Lingying before leaving one after another.
