Chapter 428 How Have You Been?

Upon hearing this voice, Liuli, who was still shocked and bewildered by the changes in the mountains, instantly forgot everything else and was filled with the joy of regaining what she had lost.

"He's not dead..."

She tried desperately to steady herself and look up in the direction the voice came from, but because she had lost all her magic, she couldn't do it no matter what. Just as she was about to crash heavily to the ground after several attempts, she suddenly fell into a warm embrace, and the pleasant scent of sandalwood filled her nostrils—it was so familiar.

Then, he carried her and landed steadily on the ground.

After they landed on the ground, Shi Chan was about to let go of Liu Li and step back, but Liu Li hugged him back, causing him to pause.

Tears streamed down Liuli's face as she nestled in Shichan's arms, but a joyful smile graced her lips. She held him tightly, her voice low and muffled as she whispered, "You're not dead... Monk Shichan, you're not dead..."

Shi Chan was held tightly in Liu Li's arms, and having already released them, he didn't know where to put his arms, so they just stood there awkwardly in the air. The warmth he felt slightly comforted his longing after a hundred years apart, and as he smelled her unique scent, his expression softened, and his tenderness deepened.

He spoke softly, his voice low and gentle with a smile, "Yes, this humble monk is not dead. Miss Liuli, it's been a long time. I wonder how you have been?"

Liuli wanted to hold him, to hold him like this forever, but she also wanted to take a good look at his face, to see if it was exactly the same as the face that often appeared in her dreams.

After hesitating for a while, she slowly released him and looked up at his gentle, smiling face.

A century has passed without leaving a trace on his face; he still looks like the gentle young man he once was. His eyes are still so bright and spirited, reflecting her small face—full of tenderness, her eyes filled with longing.

Liuli was stunned. Was the reflection in his eyes really her? That expression was one she had never seen in the bronze mirror or in the water.

She quickly stopped looking at her reflection in his eyes and stared intently at his face. Her hand, somewhat out of her control, hesitated before reaching out to gently stroke his cheek, tracing his features, as if she wanted to imprint his image deeply in her heart.

“Shi Chan…” Her gaze was deep and unfathomable, her voice extremely low as she softly said, “I have come to the Central Plains more than a dozen times in the past hundred years, but I have never been able to find you…”

Her warm little hand gently touched my face, soft and gentle, like a feather brushing against my cheek, bringing a ticklish sensation to my heart.

Shi Chan looked down at Liu Li with unusual tenderness in his eyes. He smiled gently and asked softly, "Is there something you need from me, young lady?"

Liuli quickly realized that her actions were a bit inappropriate. She quickly withdrew her hands and put them behind her back. Looking up at him, she gently shook her head and said, "It's nothing, I just wanted to see you."

Shi Chan opened his mouth, almost revealing the words in his heart, telling her that he, too, had been missing her for the past hundred years, longing to see her again every moment. But he quickly realized that saying it was not appropriate, so he remained silent.

Liuli didn't care where she fell, nor did she worry about whether Yu Xin, Ge Yiyuan, and the divine beast boys were in danger. She just looked up at him and kept looking at him like that, even though she remained silent for a long time.
