Chapter 74 Our Fate Ends Here

Inside the pavilion, Liang Yihan and the petite woman stared at each other for a long time. Liang Yihan hesitated and called out, "Ahua?"

"Mmm." Ahua nodded emphatically, a pure joy appearing on her little face.

Liang Yihan's eyes darkened as he looked away from Ahua's face. He picked up the wine pot, poured himself a cup of wine, and drank it all in one gulp. With his eyes half-closed, he toyed with the wine cup in his hand and said in a low voice, "Why did you come looking for me again? I thought I had made myself clear enough. None of my fellow disciples are here now. I won't fight you. You can leave."

"Why?" Ahua's voice choked with sobs, tears welling in her eyes, making her look incredibly pitiful. She said tearfully, "Liang Yihan, it's me, Ahua! How could you do this to me?"

"I've already said it." Liang Yihan's voice turned cold, but a hint of sadness could be seen in his lowered eyes. He said in a deep voice, "Now that you've become a demon, you're no longer my Ahua. Several days ago when I returned home, Ying'er told me..."

He looked up at Ahua and said coldly, "My Ahua is dead. I feel guilty for not being able to see her one last time, but to me, she is dead."

"Why, why?" Ahua was anxious. She really didn't know why Liang Yihan had become like this. He would never know what she had given up in order to find him.

"Fine! I'll settle things with you today!" Liang Yihan suddenly raised his voice and stood up abruptly, startling Ahua into taking a step back.

Liang Yihan was more than a head taller than Ahua. He looked down at her, his face cold, yet a hint of pity could be found in his eyes upon closer inspection. He lowered his voice and said coldly, "I, Liang Yihan, am not merely a disciple of the Yuandao Sect; I am the prophesied restorer of Taoism. Ahua, you grew up with me; you should know my ambitions are sky-high. What I see is the position of sect leader of the Yuandao Sect, and even the leadership of the entire righteous path of the Central Plains! Someone like me cannot tolerate a cat demon by my side. Do you understand?!"

No wonder, no wonder!

Ah Hua finally realized that in Liang Yihan's heart, she was nothing more than that!

What do you mean by "only partner" or "friend with whom you can talk about anything"?!

How can that compare to the so-called position of the Yuandao Sect Leader, or the so-called position of the leader of the righteous path in the Central Plains?!

Years ago, for his dream, for seeking immortality, he abandoned himself. Did he know how she felt as she stood guard under the crabapple tree every day, watching the entrance to the crabapple courtyard? Did he know that as she grew older and drew closer to death, her only wish was to see him one last time, to know if he was alright...?

Ahua asked herself in her heart, is this kind of man worth her devotion? Is he worth her infatuation?

She only has herself to blame; no one else is to blame. Who told her to have such inappropriate thoughts? Who told her to believe his words so easily?!

Ahua lost her footing and took two steps back. She leaned against a pavilion pillar to avoid falling to the ground. Tears streamed down her face. She covered her mouth with her small hand, trying to hold back her sobs, but sobs could still be heard.

Liang Yihan's heart softened, and he softened his tone, saying softly, "Ahua, please grant my wish. Our fate ends here. From now on, you are no longer my Ahua, and you have nothing to do with me anymore."

“Okay…” Ahua lowered her small hand, her voice trembling, and sobbed, “Ahua will grant your wish. Ahua became a demon for you, and Ahua can also leave you to grant your wish…”

Liang Yihan's gaze shifted to Liuli, who was smiling sweetly in the plum grove. He asked in a low voice, "I heard you call her 'sister.' Is she good to you?"

Ahua wiped away her tears, forcing a smile, but her lips twitched and then drooped again. She choked out, "My sister treated me very well. Goodbye, Liang Yihan."

These two words, "goodbye," were meant to mark the end of their past. From now on, he would no longer be her only friend, nor would he be the one she had been waiting for. They would have no further connection whatsoever!

Liang Yihan turned and sat back down in his chair. He poured himself a glass of wine but held it without drinking it. The wine was warm, but it couldn't warm his heart. His grip on the glass tightened little by little, and he whispered, "Okay."

Ahua took one last look at him, wiped away her tears, turned and rushed into the plum grove, throwing herself into Liuli's arms, choking out, "Sister, let's go."

Upon seeing Ahua cry, Liuli flew into a rage. She looked at Liang Yihan in the pavilion and shouted angrily, "Liang Yihan, you are the most despicable person I have ever met! Ahua is looking for you, but you have made her cry time and time again. You wait, this time I will not let you off!"

As she spoke, Liuli was about to take out the Winged Spirit Whip, but Ahua stopped her.

Ah Hua held Liu Li tightly and whispered, "Sister, let's go! From now on, that person has nothing to do with me. In Ah Hua's life, there is only you, sister."

Although Ahua's voice was low, Liang Yihan had excellent hearing and listened carefully. His hand holding the wine glass trembled, and a little wine spilled onto his hand.

"Alright." Seeing that Ahua was truly heartbroken, Liuli reluctantly swallowed her anger and said, "Fine, Liang Yihan, don't let me see you again! Humph! Li Molin, let's go!"

With that, she picked up Ah Hua and soared into the sky, flying away in the blink of an eye. Only a voice drifted back, saying, "Xuanyuan Hao, I'm leaving! I'll ask you to draw my portrait again next time I see you!"

Before Xuan Yuanhao could react, Liuli flew away in the blink of an eye. Hearing Liuli's words, he quickly looked up in the direction she flew away and called out, "Alright, have a safe journey, Miss Liuli."

"Hmph!" A cold snort came from the side. Xuan Yuanhao looked down and saw Li Molin's icy expression.
