Chapter 79 A Sincere Visit

Li Molin arrived at the west wing door, gently pushed it, but it was locked. A flash of black light appeared on his hand, and he easily shook open the latch, pushed the door open, and went inside.

The candles in the outer room of the west wing were still burning, more than halfway through, their flames flickering gently. At that moment, a young maid was leaning against the door leading to the inner room, dozing off. Upon hearing the door open, the maid was startled and immediately stood up, exclaiming, "Who is it?"

Li Molin ignored the maid and walked straight over. When the maid saw Li Molin and his group, although she was afraid, she still stood trembling in front of the door and shouted fiercely but weakly, "Who are you? What do you want? Help! Help!"

Yingyang City was extremely safe, and besides, ordinary thieves wouldn't dare to steal from the Grand Commandant's residence. Therefore, the guards on night duty were inevitably lax and had already secretly returned to their rooms to rest. Although the little maid's voice was loud, she didn't call in a single guard.

The maid's voice startled the people in the inner room. A muffled male voice came from inside, asking with displeasure, "Ruo'er, what's wrong?"

"Master...Master..." the maid said tremblingly, "There's an assassin..."

Before she could finish speaking, Li Molin pushed her aside, opened the door, and went inside.

There were no lights in the inner room. When Li Molin and the others entered the inner room with Liu Li, they could see a man who looked to be in his fifties wearing only an undergarment and hurriedly putting on his shoes, by the moonlight from the window and the candlelight from the outer room.

With a scream from a woman, upon seeing the arrival of Li Molin and the other two, a woman on the bed behind the man turned pale with fright and shrank into the blanket.

Although startled, the man remained calm. As he put on his shoes, he asked in a deep voice, "Who are you? What do you want?"

Before Li Molin could make a move, Ji Jue rushed forward first. A flash of light appeared in his hand, and a giant axe appeared, its blade pointing directly at the man's neck.

The man's expression finally changed.

"Lord Ji!" A hint of a smile flashed in Li Molin's eyes, but he sternly rebuked, "Don't be rude!"

Yu Ke walked to the side and lit the candles, instantly illuminating the room. He stood beside the candlestick, a sharp curved knife silently appearing in his hand. He held the knife horizontally in his hand, his fingers moving nimbly as he twirled it, quickly transforming it into a barely visible wheel of blades. The wheel spun rapidly, approaching the candlelight, even occasionally weaving through the seemingly weak flames. The wheel spun extremely fast, creating a sharp gust of wind, yet the flames didn't even flinch.

Li Molin withdrew his gaze from Yu Ke with satisfaction, while the man on the bed looked at Yu Ke with a solemn expression.

At Li Molin's signal, Ji Jue put away the giant axe. The man calmly stood up, put on his outer robe, and said in a deep voice, "What brings you gentlemen here?"

As he spoke, the man's hand quietly moved closer to a sword hanging on the wall.

Li Molin raised an eyebrow, and with a flash of light in his hand, the sword floated up and quickly flew into Li Molin's hand.

Li Molin smiled faintly, gripped the hilt of his sword and drew it halfway out. The blade was sharp and gleamed with a cold, eerie light under the candlelight.

Li Molin looked up at the man and said calmly, "A fine sword."

The man finally showed a hint of fear, which he tried to conceal with his fierce appearance. He shouted sharply, "Who are you people?!"

Li Molin bowed slightly, gave an elegant greeting, and said calmly, "My name is Li Molin, and these are my friends. We have come here tonight to pay our sincere respects to Lord Zhang."

A sincere visit? Zhang Chao almost choked. Is this how you visit someone? In the dead of night, carrying weapons, it's as if they're trying to threaten him.

Zhang Chao glanced at the sword in Li Molin's hand, then at the curved saber that Yu Ke was playing with. He forced himself to swallow his anger, but still couldn't help but say coldly, "If you gentlemen are truly sincere in your visit, you can simply present your visiting card in broad daylight to greet me!"

Li Molin smiled leisurely and said, "It is precisely because of the trouble of sending visiting cards, and the uncertainty of whether Lord Zhang will see us, that we have no choice but to visit at this time."

Zhang Chao was used to being arrogant and had never been so humiliated before, but these people seemed to be extraordinary. He was so angry that his face turned red, but he had to suppress his anger and said in a deep voice, "If that's the case, you may go back now. You can come to my residence for a chat after I finish court tomorrow."

“Alright.” Li Molin readily agreed. He smiled faintly and said, “However, we have no place to stay in the inner city. I wonder if Lord Zhang’s residence has any vacancies?”

Zhang Chao was furious, but he suppressed his anger and said in a deep voice, "Ruo'er, take these guests to the guest courtyard, tidy them up, and let them stay."

"Yes." Ruo'er responded timidly from the outer room, saying, "Please follow me, guests."

Li Molin chuckled softly, handed his sword to Zhang Chao, and said with a smile, "Then we shall take our leave. May Lord Zhang have a good night's sleep."

Zhang Chao took the sword and gave a cold snort of annoyance.

Li Molin didn't mind, turned around and greeted Liuli, saying, "I'm leaving, Liuli."

"Oh," Liuli replied listlessly, there wasn't much of a show to watch.

Li Molin and Liuli followed Ruo'er out first, followed closely by Ji Jue, with Yu Ke bringing up the rear. He twirled his curved blade, instantly extinguishing the candlelight. As he backed away, he said, "Farewell."

Just as Yu Ke finished speaking, he stepped out of the door, closed the door behind him, and turned to follow Li Molin and the others.

"snort!"

Zhang Chao, inside the door, snorted coldly and threw his sword out with a loud clang. The woman huddled under the covers on the bed shuddered and screamed again.
