Chapter 97 Lantern

"Guess!" Liuli pointed to a lantern and said excitedly, "Give me this one, I want to guess more!"

The shopkeeper took down the lantern and handed the slip of paper on it to Liuli. Liuli took it and read it aloud: "No on rainy days, but on cloudy days; no in fields, but in lakes; no in rivers, but in tides... Guess the Chinese character..."

She frowned, gesturing as she thought, and after a long while, said unhappily, "This one is completely different from the last one."

Xuan Yuanhao leaned closer and said gently with a smile, "Miss, think about it carefully again. This riddle is different from the last one. Can you find any words that are the same in these three sentences?"

Xuan Yuanhao patiently taught Liuli, while Liang Yihan's gaze swept lightly over Li Molin and Ji Jue. He smiled strangely and bowed, saying, "Greetings, Young Master Li. Why is Young Master Yu not by your side today? Is he on duty in the palace?"

Li Molin smiled faintly, completely ignoring the sarcasm in Liang Yihan's words, and said calmly, "I have no beautiful women to offer to the Emperor, so I have no choice but to send my subordinates to the palace."

Li Molin's words were quite sarcastic.

Liang Yihan smiled slightly, then silently turned to look at Xuan Yuanhao and Liuli. She heard Xuan Yuanhao patiently saying to Liuli, "Miss, take a close look at these three sentences. There's one word that's always been there..."

He glanced at Liuli's still somewhat bewildered expression and continued, "'There are no cloudy days in the fields, but there are in the cloudy days,' which word is in the character 'cloudy' in that sentence?"

Liuli thought for a moment, then suddenly realized, "I know! It's the character 'moon'! You can see the character 'moon' in a cloudy day, in a lake, and in the tide!"

"By the way," Xuan Yuanhao smiled gently and said, "You understand so quickly, young lady. You are truly intelligent."

Liuli's interest grew even higher, and she asked the stall owner for another lantern, and together with Xuanyuan Hao, they began to guess riddles.

Seeing that there were more and more lanterns in front of Liuli, Li Molin became impatient and said coldly from the side, "Can you carry all these lanterns?"

"Mind your own business!" Liuli glared at Li Molin, muttering as she looked at the riddles in her hand, "It's none of your concern if I give all these lanterns away later!"

Li Molin snorted coldly, finding it utterly distasteful of Xuan Yuanhao's gentle instruction of Liuli. He put his hands behind his back, turned around, and walked away, coldly saying as he went, "Ji Jue, take Liuli with you!"

"Yes!" Ji Jue replied, grabbing Liu Li's arm and pulling her outside.

"Hey hey hey..." Ji Jue was a rough man with great strength. He suddenly tugged at Liu Li's arm, causing Liu Li to stumble and almost fall.

Liuli flew into a rage and roared, "Ji Jue! Have you gone too far?!"

Ji Jue ignored Liu Li's angry shouts and pulled her along behind Li Molin, making way for them without understanding what was going on.

Liuli was dragged forward by Ji Jue against her will, her steps hurried and unsteady. Because of the many humans around her, she suppressed the urge to draw her Winged Spirit Whip, and whispered fiercely to Ahua in her arms, "Ahua, scratch him!"

"Meow." Ahua responded, leaping onto Ji Jue's shoulder. She stretched out her chubby paw, revealing sharp claws, and scratched Ji Jue's face hard, leaving five bloody claw marks.

In pain, Ji Jue instinctively patted Ahua on his shoulder, but suddenly a wisp of ethereal green energy blocked Ji Jue's hand. So Ahua's claws landed on his face again, scratching half of Ji Jue's face in two quick strokes.

After succeeding, Ahua nimbly jumped back into Liuli's arms.

Ji Jue's face burned with pain. He hissed and gasped for breath, unable to help but release Liu Li, bending over to touch his face and cry out in pain.

"Hmph!" Liuli straightened her sleeves, glanced triumphantly at Ji Jue, and turned to walk back to the riddle stall when Li Molin's cold voice suddenly came from ahead, saying, "Liuli, do you like the Binding God Rope?"

Liuli paused, her face darkening.

Her eyes darted around for a long time before she could only mutter angrily, "Bastard!" She turned away in frustration, her steps furious, but she still obediently followed Li Molin.

After walking for a while, she turned her head and glanced at Xuan Yuanhao in front of the stall, waved, and called out, "I'm leaving now, goodbye, Xuan Yuanhao!"

Xuan Yuanhao smiled gently and replied, "Take care, young lady. We'll meet again another day!"

So, on the crowded and bustling street, Li Molin walked at the front with his hands behind his back, Liuli followed behind him with a dark expression, and Ji Jue brought up the rear, hissing and clutching half his face in pain. He had been trying to use magic to heal the scratches on his face inflicted by Ahua, but strangely, the wounds contained a strange demonic power that made the healing process extremely slow.

Although Ji Jue had some doubts, once the pain from his wound subsided after a while, he put the strange thought out of his mind and forgot about it in the blink of an eye.

They walked from one end of the street to the other, where vendors and locals from the outer city had set up stalls selling all sorts of antiques, jewelry, snacks, and children's toys. But Liuli had no interest in browsing properly and followed Li Molin back to the Grand Commandant's guest courtyard, shuffling along the way.

Before returning to her room, Liuli glared at Li Molin hatefully and coldly uttered a sentence: "One day I will steal your Binding God Rope! Humph, bastard!"

After saying that, he turned around and stormed into the west wing, slamming the door shut with a loud bang.

Li Molin was opening the door when he heard this and paused. His eyes warmed, and he shook his head with a smile.
