Chapter 32 Steaming Buns
The next morning, when Mr. Li Xingfu woke up, he found a woman busy in the kitchen. Lu Zhaodi made steamed buns and porridge, both of which were Mr. Li's favorite foods.
He and his grandson depended on each other for survival, and neither of them was good at cooking. He had previously told his grandson, Li Yucai, to marry him off sooner rather than later so that he, an old man over fifty, could enjoy the filial piety of his grandson's wife, but it was never like this.
He was so scared that he thought he had walked into the wrong house.
"Who are you?" said Mr. Li.
Lu Zhaodi smiled and said, "Grandpa, I'm Zhaodi."
Old Master Li was stunned. He knew Lu Zhaodi, of course, but why would his grandson bring him home? Could it be... He had a bad feeling. Although he was much older and had seen a lot, he was old-fashioned and couldn't stand cohabitation before marriage.
My grandson was a reporter, and he usually worked all day and all night, but he never brought anyone home. He was a scholar, and he was quite cultured. He asked, "What's going on with you guys?"
Mr. Li was very dissatisfied. Even though the two of them were dating, they didn't move in directly.
At least avoid people.
Just as Lu Zhaodi was about to speak, she heard footsteps. Li Yucai came down from upstairs and saw Lu Zhaodi and Grandpa. He was so angry that he lost all sleepiness. This woman was so unruly. He saw her yesterday as a womanizer. It was late at night and the police station was closed. There was really no other place, so he kindly let him stay here for the night.
She had agreed to leave in the morning to avoid being seen by her grandfather and being unable to explain herself. She had agreed to do so then. But now he was actually showing up in her kitchen.
Li Yucai's face was expressionless when he was angry. "It's morning already. You should hurry to the police station before your family comes looking for you." Then he quickly told his grandfather, "She knocked on the door yesterday, saying she was calling for help because she was having a quarrel with the family. I saw she was crying so miserably, so I let her stay downstairs for the night."
Li Yucai told his family immediately, as he didn't want his grandfather to misunderstand.
Lu Zhaodi seemed completely oblivious to the grandfather and grandson's strange and discontented mood. Like the hostess of a house, she greeted them, "I cooked porridge this morning and made pork buns." Her cooking skills were not bad, but they had just become rusty.
She was deliberately trying to please the grandfather and grandson. Yesterday, Li Yucai went back to bed at two in the morning. She had to wake up early to let the dough rise and prepare the meat filling. She wanted to give them a surprise. She didn't chop the meat, but rather minced it slowly. Preparing this meal took her almost the entire night without any sleep.
It's nice to have a hot breakfast at home in the morning, but not like this. A strange woman came to the house and took over the kitchen and refrigerator. She had no manners at all, and she acted like the master of the house. She had no sense of propriety.
Not to mention going to a strange man's house, even if you visit a relative's house, you cannot openly rummage through the other person's things.
Lu Zhaodi wanted to show her virtue and understanding, but she gave the Li family's grandfather and grandson goosebumps all over the floor.
Li Yucai had no time to eat. He was so angry that he grabbed Lu Zhaodi's hand and took her to the police station.
Lu Zhaodi didn't know why her gentle and considerate husband in her previous life had become like this. She even said coquettishly, "What are you doing, Yucai? You're hurting me."
Li Yucai wanted to block her mouth. Listen to what she said. If you didn't know, you would think they were having an affair. He didn't care about anything else and dragged her to the police station, saying that they had rescued a missing woman.
Li Yucai was a newspaper reporter who frequently visited the police station and knew many of the people there. He handed the person over and then left, showing no sign of friendship at all.
When they returned home, facing the steaming buns, the grandfather and grandson looked at each other in dismay.
Mr. Li was relatively okay, as he was older and had experienced a lot, but this was the first time Li Yucai had encountered such a person: "Is she mentally ill?" She rummaged through the refrigerator and kitchen early in the morning, and even took the initiative to ask them to eat. Even those sweet words made her shudder.
Old Master Li said, "It's a bit weird." Old Master Li was not as naive as his grandson. He thought more deeply. He had contacted the Lu family several times and never revealed his address in the county town. So how did she find this place?
I inexplicably feel that Lu Zhaodi seems to be familiar with everything here.
Li Yucai said, "Forget it, let's go out and eat. They wouldn't dare eat the buns made by such a crazy woman."
When people from Dayu Village came to report the case, Lu Xiang was at the police station.
The village chief saw her standing there peacefully and couldn't help but scold her, "You are such an ignorant girl. The whole village has gone to such great lengths to find you. Even if you want to go out for something, you should at least tell your parents beforehand."
The whole village is in chaos because of Lu Zhaodi's incident.
Lu Zhaodi admitted her mistake and was taken back by the village chief. When she returned to the village, everyone was relieved to hear that she was fine.
Knowing that she had run away out of anger with her family, he didn't dare to say anything harsh and said, "It's good that you're back."
"Silly child, if you have anything to worry about, just tell your aunt. Don't run away next time, okay?"
Lu Zhaodi was surrounded by people and said sensibly, "Auntie, I know I was wrong."
Seeing this, no one knew what to say. When she returned home, even her grandmother, who was always the most demanding, didn't say anything. She was tired from not sleeping all night, so she went back to her room and fell asleep.
After sleeping on the soft bed in the city, it was very uncomfortable to sleep on the hard bed at Lu's house. She wanted to get married as soon as possible so that she could sleep on the soft bed every day.
…
Lu Xiang helps Xiao Cailian with housework. Xiao Cailian is now very satisfied with Lu Xiang. Yesterday, when Lu Zhaodi didn't come home, she felt embarrassed to rub salt into her wounds. Now that Lu Zhaodi is back, she can't help but say, "Lu Zhaodi is so willful."
Fortunately, I didn’t marry her, otherwise she would have run away if I had just said one word, scared to death.
Originally, he had a neutral feeling towards Lu Xiang, but now he likes her more and more. He even said, "The most important thing is that you hurry up and give me a big fat grandson."
Lu Xiang was stunned. She and Fu Qinhui were still just roommates.
Seeing her stunned, Xiao Cailian thought she was embarrassed and said, "What are you afraid of? You won't need to take care of the baby after it's born. I'll take care of all my grandchildren."
Lu Xiang knew she had misunderstood, but she couldn't be too clear about such things, so she said vaguely, "It's not up to me to decide whether to have a baby or not."
When Xiao Cailian heard this, she became really curious. Fu Qinhui had been studying for a long time and had just graduated. She didn't know if he understood the relationship between men and women. She would find an opportunity to ask her son indirectly.
