Meng Wan raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on her lips. "You've adapted to your new identity quite quickly."
"The news has already spread, are you sure everything's alright?" Ji Sheng immediately composed himself.
"This is nothing for me to worry about. She needs the title of 'Young Miss Tang,' but do I need it?"
Meng Wan's eyes were bright and full of confidence.
Ji Sheng chuckled, "That's true, you can get by anywhere, right?"
"But this house is too small, isn't it? Didn't Yan Nian give you one? If it's really not enough, you can have mine." Ji Sheng glanced at the room, his brows furrowed, a hint of disdain in his eyes. "Are you comfortable living here?"
"I have my own plans."
Ji Sheng shrugged, knowing Meng Wan's personality, and said no more.
The workers were quick; after a brief discussion with Meng Wan, they had redecorated the room in less than an hour. Meng Wan and Ji Sheng discussed it and also adjusted the layout of Meng Zhili's room.
With Ji Sheng there, the space was utilized to the maximum extent. As for the other places, they were left as they were. Ji Sheng wanted to make some changes, but Meng Wan refused, and it was unclear what she was thinking.
Meng Wan also took this opportunity to have Meng Zhiyao move in.
"Yours is inside, and this area outside is mine." Meng Wan pointed to the bed inside and explained the layout of the room to him.
The room was divided into two areas by curtains, while ensuring that sunlight could stream into both areas. The bed was placed at the far end, separated not only by curtains but also by two bookshelves. Near the window, there were two desks, and Meng Zhiyao's desk also had a small cabinet filled with various paints and brushes.
Meng Wan's bed is separated by a curtain, which she draws at night so that it doesn't affect anyone coming in or out, creating her own private little space.
“Normally, we maintain a clear boundary, neither interfering with the other. You paint your paintings, I do my work, and we coexist peacefully. Consider this a bribe to you, do you agree?”
Meng Zhiyao held her paint box, her eyes never leaving the storage cabinet full of paint.
"Alright, go pack your things." Meng Wan patted his head, and this time Meng Zhiyao didn't resist.
Meng Wan curled her lips into a smile, "Kids are so easy to coax."
After settling Meng Zhiyao in, the boys' dormitory was quickly completed.
After looking around, Meng Wan nodded in satisfaction. With Ji Sheng overseeing things, she didn't think there would be any problems. The space, the architecture, the layout—as long as Ji Sheng was there, it always gave people a refreshing feeling. Even the most meticulous details were taken into consideration.
He was born for this job.
"Thanks for your hard work."
"Miss Tang, you're too kind. Just let me know if you need anything next time." The lead worker said, carrying a box, his tone somewhat naive.
"My surname is now Meng."
Meng Wan's words startled the two people in the kitchen. Qin Yi's eyes immediately reddened, and she could only continue to lower her head and knead seaweed rice rolls to hide her emotions, but the slight trembling of her hands still betrayed her feelings.
Meng Boqun also felt a little uneasy, and gently patted Qin Yi's back with his clean hands. He wiped his hands and walked to Meng Wan's side.
"Understood, Miss Meng." The foreman leading the workers had worked with Meng Wan several times before, and he was naturally a shrewd person who could deal with them.
"Then I'm leaving too. Call me if you need anything." Ji Sheng hung up the phone that rang again and skillfully blocked the other party.
"Okay, thanks for today. I'll treat you to dinner when I'm done with this busy period."
Ji Sheng didn't say anything, but bumped fists with her.
"Uncle, see you next time."
"We apologize for the poor hospitality. Please come again when you have time."
No sooner had they seen Ji Sheng and the others off than Aunt Chen and her group arrived. Meng Boqun had originally wanted to say something to Meng Wan, but he had to give up and greet the guests with Qin Yi first. The whole house was noisy, and Meng Wan didn't like overly noisy atmospheres, so she greeted them and went back to her room.
Before noon, Meng Wan's energy was already rapidly depleted.
Lying in bed, the soft mattress instantly relaxed her. After all, she was a pampered young lady who had been spoiled for over a decade; being able to sleep and sleeping well were two different things.
Yan Nian probably knew this too, which is why he changed Meng Wan's bed as well. After rolling around a couple of times, just as he was about to take a nap, his phone rang.
Separated by a curtain, Meng Zhiyao focused on her painting, while Meng Wan didn't try to hide anything and answered the phone directly.
"Hello." The voice was languid, lacking any enthusiasm.
"Miss Meng went to do hard labor? Why do you look so weak and listless?"
"V me for 50, and I'll tell you my story of how I got rich."
Yan Nian curled her lips into a smile, her fingers swiping across the screen while her mouth was also busy.
"Is everything settled?"
"Yes, I really am a pampered young lady." Meng Wan lay on the bed, sighing from the bottom of her heart.
Just then, my phone pinged, and a transfer notification popped up—another million.
"Wow, Mr. Yan is so generous! Should I thank you for your kindness?" Meng Wan accepted the money readily. After all, her money was going into Yan Nian's account anyway, and their relationship was much closer than outsiders thought.
Yan Qingnian chuckled, his slightly deep voice traveling through the electricity, making one's ears tingle.
"It's not like we don't have a place to stay, how long are you planning to stay?"
Meng Wan sat up and casually brushed her hair back. "It's quite interesting. Let's leave it at that for now."
In the evening, Meng Zhiyuan and Meng Zhili returned together.
"Zhili's back! Go take a shower, you have to go to school tomorrow." Qin Yi put down what she was holding when she heard the door open.
