She kicked open the half-closed door, completely ignoring Qin Yi's instructions before she left, or rather, she simply didn't want to.
Meng Zhiyao became pregnant unexpectedly. The couple originally wanted to have an abortion, but they found out when she was already three months along. With the encouragement of their children, they decided to give birth.
Meng Zhiyi naturally disagreed, but with the whole family agreeing, in order to maintain her obedient image, she could only smile and agree, while secretly she was grinding her teeth in frustration.
But she had to admit that she breathed a sigh of relief when Qin Yi gave birth to a boy. Although she wasn't the youngest, she was still the only girl in the family.
Despite this, the newborn baby still stole a lot of attention that should have been on Meng Zhiyi, which made her feel jealous and extremely unbalanced.
She felt no affection for her younger brother, only endless disgust. Even though he was fair-skinned and well-behaved, Meng Zhiyi couldn't bring herself to like him at all.
When Xiao Zhiyao saw people come in, she immediately stopped crying, smiled, and opened her arms for a hug.
"Cry, cry, cry, so noisy!" But instead of hugging him, Meng Zhiyi pushed him down after he finally managed to stand up.
The little guy lost his balance and fell back onto the bed. Luckily, the bed was fluffy enough, and the little guy thought Meng Zhiyi was playing with him, so he giggled and grabbed the edge of the bed to stand up again.
Tears still clung to his face, yet he smiled and asked for another hug.
"Laughing, laughing, laughing, so annoying! Why don't you just cry yourself to death!" Meng Zhiyi became increasingly irritated.
Xiao Zhiyao seemed to sense the other party's impatience, her little mouth twitched, and the next second she burst into tears.
"Cry, cry, cry! What else can you do besides cry! It's so annoying." Meng Zhiyi pinched his arm, and the pain made Xiao Zhiyao cry even louder.
Meng Zhiyi wasn't satisfied with that; instead, she wanted to try again. Fortunately, the doorbell rang.
Meng Zhiyi clicked her tongue, ignored the crying Meng Zhiyao, turned around and left the room, locking the door behind her to shut out his sobs.
"Hello, courier, please sign for this package."
Meng Zhiyi opened the door, her expression not very good.
"Aren't there any adults at home?"
"Just give it to me, stop talking so much, you stinky delivery guy." With that, he snatched the package and signed his name.
How dare you speak to me like that?
The deliveryman was speechless, but Meng Zhiyi simply tore off the signed name, threw it to him along with the pen, and disdainfully closed the door.
The deliveryman gritted his teeth, muttered curses as he picked up the pen and left, saying things like, "Rich kids have no manners."
Inside the room, Meng Zhiyi looked at the file bag in her hand and curled her lips in disdain.
As they got older, the Meng couple went for a full physical examination. To be on the safe side, they also had their children in the family get a checkup. Before leaving home, they specifically asked Meng Zhiyi to help sign for the express delivery.
Meng Zhiyi, who had originally planned to leave it aside, suddenly changed her mind. She leaned back on the sofa, casually opened the file folder, and idly flipped through the medical reports of the group.
As she watched, she suddenly sat up straight.
Qin Yi and Meng Boqun are both blood type O, but... why does the report show that she is blood type A? Apart from her and Meng Zhiyao, who didn't have a physical exam, everyone else is blood type O!
A bad thought formed in Meng Zhiyi's mind. Almost subconsciously, she pulled out her report and tried to hide it. She searched every corner of the house but couldn't find a suitable hiding place.
She opened the drawer, and inside was a lighter.
After calming down, Meng Zhiyi grabbed her medical report and a lighter and rushed to the bathroom. Watching the report burn to ashes and then flushed away with the last drop of water, Meng Zhiyi finally collapsed onto the sofa.
Her heart was pounding, telling her what she had just done!
"You got your medical examination report back?" Qin Yi and Meng Zhili returned and immediately noticed the opened medical examination report on the table.
"Yes...yes."
Meng Zhiyi happened to come out of Xiao Zhiyao's room, her expression not looking too good. She forced a smile and replied.
Seeing this, Qin Yi immediately put down the report she hadn't had time to read carefully and came over to feel her forehead.
"Honey, you look terrible. Are you feeling unwell?"
“No… Yaoyao kept crying, I just managed to get him to sleep. Mom, I’m sorry…” Meng Zhiyi said, two golden tears falling from her eyes.
"What's wrong? What happened, baby? Don't cry, be good." Qin Yi hugged her and patted her gently, then wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes.
"What's wrong? Is Yaoyao being disobedient?" Meng Zhili also came over.
“I wasn’t watching Yaoyao properly. I just took out a package, opened it, and glanced at it. He bumped his arm and got a small bruise. He kept crying, so I wanted to read a report to him to comfort him, but Yaoyao tore it up…”
Meng Zhiyi became more and more aggrieved as she spoke, her whole body trembling with emotion, which made Qin Yi feel extremely distressed.
"It's okay, it's okay, we can do it again later. It's normal for kids to stumble and fall, it's not your fault." Qin Yi patted her back and gently comforted her.
"Yes, there's nothing to be sorry about. You're still a child yourself. It's already great that you were able to put Yaoyao to sleep." Meng Zhili rubbed her head, his tone as gentle as ever.
"When your father comes home tonight, we'll go out for a big meal to reward our little princess who's worked so hard all day." Qin Yi pinched her cheek and then smiled as she wiped away her tears with her fingertips.
“Little crybaby, wipe your tears and then go pick out a pretty princess dress,” Meng Zhili chimed in.
It took the two of them going back and forth to finally get Meng Zhiyi to smile.
The next day, Meng Zhiyi sneaked out and entered a detective agency. The matter went smoothly. The Meng family gave her a considerable allowance, and although she was usually quite extravagant, most of it was paid for by Qin Yi or her brothers, so she had saved a fair amount.
These kinds of firms usually have connections in various industries and specialize in serving the wealthy. Once they receive payment, they are guaranteed to get things done.
Although Meng Zhiyi knew this, the waiting process was still somewhat unbearable, and she was absent-minded for several days in a row.
The Meng family thought something was wrong with her and tried to comfort her every day.
Fortunately, the detective agency was quite efficient, and they contacted Meng Zhiyi in less than a week, saying they had found out what happened back then.
Where is it?
Meng Zhiyi looked nervous, afraid of running into someone she knew.
The man in the lead pushed the documents in his hand towards her, saying, "They're all here."
“Twelve years ago, both families were admitted to the same hospital. I checked the reports from that year, and you two happened to be in the same ward. It must have been an oversight by the nurses that they put your name tags on the wrong ones.”
Meng Zhiyi's expression changed, and she crumpled the corner of the few sheets of paper in her hand.
"How is their family...?"
