Meng Wan immediately changed the subject.
“Perfect timing. Isn’t your brother studying law? Let’s draw up a contract. My judgment is usually pretty good. Mom has already placed several orders before even opening for business today. At this rate, I’ll actually be the one making the profit.”
“This… I’m glad you think this way, but…”
"Don't rush to reject these ideas, Dad. Wanwan's idea is good, but let's discuss the details further. Let's solve the current problem first and see how things go before making any plans."
As the leader, Meng Zhiyuan possessed a certain composure that inspired trust. The topic circled back again, and Meng Wan decided to stay out of it and return to her room to rest.
After changing beds, her sleep quality improved significantly. Meng Wan checked the time; it was already ten o'clock.
Just as Meng Zhiyuan said, Meng Zhiyao sleeps very quietly, and when she wakes up, she sits quietly in the corner drawing. If you don't hear the sound of a lid being turned on, it's as if no one is there.
Without disturbing him, Meng Wan opened the door and saw Meng Boqun and the other two sitting around in the living room, counting something back and forth, occasionally whispering a word to each other, their excitement barely concealed.
"morning."
"Wanwan, are you awake? Did we wake you up?"
"No. Was it because your stall did well today?" Perhaps infected by their smiles, Meng Wan's tone rose as she spoke.
"Yes, today was the trial opening. We didn't make much, but it all sold out. We made a little over two hundred yuan." Qin Yi held five and ten yuan coins in her hand, her eyes shining brightly, completely different from her previous gentle but actually sad appearance.
"Thanks to Wanwan, we've already sold quite a few before even leaving the building." Meng Boqun's back straightened unconsciously. "This reminds me of the early days of starting my business, the feeling when I received my first order. It's quite similar to today."
Meng Boqun's words were full of emotion. He lowered his head, his hand stroking the wad of crumpled change, his expression complex.
"Dad, school officially starts tomorrow, there will be even more people, it will be much busier than today, so don't be as flustered as you were today." Meng Zhili noticed Meng Boqun's mood and changed the subject.
"Yes, thankfully Zhili came to help as soon as he got out of school," Qin Yi added. "By the way, are you hungry, Wanwan? I'd like to get you something to eat so you can have lunch soon."
"Thank you, Mom." Meng Wan didn't refuse. "By the way, my second brother and I are going out this afternoon."
"Kids get along so quickly. Perfect timing, Boqun, give the money to Wanwan. It's not easy to go out for a while, so go buy whatever you want to eat or drink." Qin Yi's eyes crinkled with joy, genuinely happy that the siblings were already able to go out and play together in such a short time.
The two children, aged seventeen and nineteen, exchanged a glance, feeling both helpless and amused.
In the end, Meng Wan couldn't resist Meng Boqun and the other man. At the bus stop, Meng Wan looked at the change that would never normally be in her bag, both amused and exasperated.
"Don't feel guilty, just accept it." Meng Zhili noticed Meng Wan's helplessness.
Meng Wan is a strange person. She can be even more assertive than the other party when they are assertive, but when the other party focuses on sincerity, she becomes somewhat at a loss.
She didn't quite understand how to gracefully accept these unintentional acts of kindness.
When the bus arrived at the stop, Meng Wan boarded, and Meng Zhili followed behind, paying the fare. The destination was closer than expected. They got off midway, took a detour to buy some things, and then took another bus.
All of this, the journey only took half an hour.
Looking at the alleyway in front of him, which resembled the alleyway of the Republic of China era, Meng Zhili's eyes softened.
"I never imagined there was such a place in S City."
"Your temperament suits this place quite well."
Meng Wan's generous praise made Meng Zhili blush slightly.
As they went deeper into the area, the smell of traditional Chinese medicine in the air became stronger.
"Can you smell what kinds of medicinal herbs are in them?" Meng Wan seemed to suddenly become interested and turned to look at Meng Zhili.
Meng Zhili met her gaze and saw the liveliness and cunning in her eyes.
Meng Zhili smiled indulgently, his nose twitched slightly, and he actually named a few Chinese medicines.
Meng Wan smiled but made no comment. She led him through a series of turns until they finally stopped in front of a rather inconspicuous wooden door.
The wooden door was ajar. Peeking through the crack, you could see an old man reclining in a grand chair, leisurely fanning himself with a fan and occasionally humming along to the radio. There were some pastries and snacks beside him, and he seemed quite content.
Out of politeness, Meng Zhili only glanced at it before looking away, and did not see what was happening inside.
After Meng Wan made a 'shh' gesture, Meng Zhili tactfully stepped behind her. But Meng Wan didn't rush in; instead, she waited until the old man put the snack in his mouth and then pushed the door open.
"Old Chen, I caught you! Why are you eating these snacks again!" Meng Wan's voice suddenly rang out, startling the old man, but his first reaction was to stuff the snacks behind his back.
Where can I find snacks?
Meng Wan sneered, "Why don't you swallow the potato chips in your mouth first?"
Chen Xiong, realizing he was in the wrong, sat up straight. Meng Wan picked up the teapot, skillfully brewed the tea, and then presented it to Chen Xiong with both hands. She was polite, but not excessively so.
Chen Xiong had just felt thirsty after eating potato chips, but a cup of tea made him feel much better. The tea was good, and the person who brewed it knew how to brew tea. Chen Xiong nodded, somewhat wanting more.
"Take it out." Meng Wan reached out her hand, her expression serious.
"What are you bringing? You brat, you haven't come to see me in so long. You've probably forgotten about this old man somewhere." Chen Xiong pretended to be deaf and dumb, and instead complained that Meng Wan had only come to see him twice during the summer vacation.
