Chapter 121 I'll come back when it snows.

"Mom, there's no need to go to so much trouble. I'll just take it and leave. I still have a lot of things to take care of."

Seeing Qin Yi's flustered appearance, Meng Wan forced a smile and held her down.

"Is everything alright at home lately?"

"Everything is fine, everything is fine." Qin Yi stroked Meng Wan's arm.

“Your eldest and third brothers seem to be quite busy lately, and Yaoyao has become much more cheerful. Zhili said the clinic is closed, but he wants to see if there's anything he can do to help, so he goes there every day.”

"Mom, please tell my second brother to keep an eye on Master for me. I won't be able to visit him recently."

"Don't worry, I'll text him later, and I'll tell him again when he gets back tonight."

"Tell Mom what you want to eat, and Mom will bring it to you. You stay with that child and get through this. Everything will be alright."

Meng Wan nodded, and as she was about to leave, Meng Zhiyao seemed to sense something and hurriedly ran out.

"Sister...elder sister."

As far as I can remember, this was the first time Meng Zhiyao had called her that.

Meng Wan stopped, patted Meng Zhiyao's head, and squatted down in front of him.

Have you been behaving well lately?

Meng Zhiyao nodded, holding Meng Wan's hand as if afraid she might suddenly leave again.

"My sister has been away from home recently..." Meng Wan was interrupted by Meng Zhiyao in a hurry before she could finish speaking.

"When...when will I be back?" Meng Zhiyao looked at Meng Wan, her face full of grievance.

Meng Wan pinched his cheek. "When it snows, your sister should be back."

It's amazing how a place that I originally just wanted to rest for has unknowingly become something I miss.

“I can’t go to Brother Qian’s place with you recently, but I’ve asked him to pick you up every Sunday. You have to listen to him, okay? If you don’t want to go alone, ask Tang Li to come with you. I’ve already set up his contact information for you. Just call him using your watch.”

"If I...miss you, can I call you?"

Meng Zhiyao looked like he was about to cry. He didn't know when it started snowing, but he knew that his only sister was leaving.

"Sure, Yaoyao, you can call me anytime you miss me."

"Alright, Yaoyao, say goodbye to your sister. She'll be back soon." Qin Yi looked reluctant to part, but she still stopped Meng Zhiyao when he tried to chase after her.

"Take good care of yourself. We're all here. Your room will always be reserved for you."

Meng Wan felt a lump in her throat as she thought of Jiang Yu again. She nodded and waved, but didn't have the courage to turn around and look at her again.

She wanted to get back to Yan Nian's side as soon as possible. Now she had a new home and family, while Yan Nian's home, no matter how big or new it was, would never have his parents again.

She pushed open the door, only to be rushed up and tightly embraced by a figure, the force so great it seemed as if the person in the embrace would burst.

Meng Wan did not break free, but instead gently patted his back with her free hand to soothe his extreme anxiety.

"Yan Nian, I'm here."

"I thought you had left," Yan Nian said, his voice trembling slightly as he whispered into her neck and shoulder.

"I just went home to get some things, I'm not leaving."

"Hmm." Yan Nian responded in a muffled voice, and after a while he let go of her and took her luggage.

"Didn't Butler Zhang tell you I went out?"

"She seems to have gone to buy groceries; I didn't see her when I got up."

Meng Wan glanced at the direction of the dining table, where there was porridge and some snacks, indicating that they had just left.

"After we finish eating, I need to go to the company to take care of some things. You went to bed later than me yesterday and got up so early, so go back and get some more sleep."

“I also need to go to the company to take a look. I have some business to handle with W.P. in my later years. With Assistant Yao holding things up at Yan's, you should lie down and rest for a while. I've already taken a month's leave from the school, so you can leave the company matters to me from now on.”

Both of them were the same; their first thought was always for the other person, rather than for themselves.

The two remained deadlocked until they each compromised, indicating that they would absolutely not become overly engrossed in their work.

Their cohabitation wasn't as ambiguous as they had imagined. The way they got along was like that of an old married couple. Sometimes, before the other person even had a chance to speak, the other would have already handed them what they wanted.

During the day, the two are busy with various things. At night, they sit together on the swing in the courtyard, embracing each other and leaning on each other, gazing at the sky in a daze.

Sometimes they might suddenly feel a lump in their throat, but after realizing what's happening, they'll take a deep breath and try to calm themselves down.

They both cared too much about each other and didn't want the other to fall into sadness again, knowing that those who loved them wouldn't want them to remain in sadness.

But sometimes they would think, is it okay to be a little cowardly?

Even if it's just fingertips, they want to touch again, so they try to live their lives as they did two years ago, hoping that in their dreams, they can lie down on each other's laps like when they were children, gently stroking each other's faces and tucking stray hairs behind their ears...

Before they knew it, the first snow had arrived. The two of them were still huddled on the swing in the courtyard. Yan Nian put Meng Wan's hand in his pocket, while he rummaged around in another pocket.

A moment later, he took out a small box.

"The gift I bought for you when I went to discuss the project took some time to customize. I was originally going to give it to you after the sports meet."

Yan Nian didn't say the rest. He opened the box; inside was a silver bracelet, very thin and delicate, with patterns that looked as if they had been forged bit by bit. Upon closer inspection, the inner circle was engraved with the letter W.

Meng Wan extended her hand, and the meaning couldn't be clearer.

Yan Nian took out the bracelet and carefully put it on Meng Wan.

Is it pretty?

"Hmm, it looks good." Yan Nian lowered his eyes and stroked Meng Wan's palm until it became slightly warm before letting go.

“Your hair has grown long.” Meng Wan brushed a stray hair from Yan Nian’s forehead.

"Okay, I'll get it cut tomorrow." The two returned to their original positions.

"Remember when we both dyed our hair parrot-like hair..." Recalling the past, the corners of their mouths unconsciously turned up.

"Dad is furious. You finally dyed your hair back, and now Mom has dyed it too."

"Aunt Jiang is spoiled by Uncle Yan like a child, free and easy, which is very cute."

"If only I had met you sooner..." Yan Nian often sighed.

"But all I want is for us to stay together forever." Meng Wan leaned on Yan Nian's shoulder and looked up at her bracelet.

Yan Nian tilted his head and placed a kiss on Meng Wan's head, his expression extremely devout, the answer self-evident.
