Chapter 125 Having a Meal

Cui Qingling's exhibition went very smoothly. After discussions, Meng Zhilian and another film and television actress were finally selected as the spokespeople for the joint brand.

Meng Zhilian rose to fame much faster than Meng Wan had imagined. He naturally attracts attention and, coupled with his inherent charisma, quickly became a top-tier celebrity.

He received numerous endorsements, but despite his popularity, he doesn't have any representative works.

Meng Zhilian himself knew this, and knew that what he lacked now was a hit song that could represent him, like the song that Meng Wan tailored for He Tong when he debuted. So recently, apart from completing his daily work, he has been spending almost all his time in the composition studio.

Everyone is doing their own thing, and everything is moving in a positive direction.

Before we knew it, the year had come to an end.

"Wanwan, are you busy right now?" Qin Yi's voice came from the phone.

"Mom, what's wrong?"

Meng Wan put down the documents in her hand, rubbed her temples, and looked up, only to realize that it was already lunchtime.

Since the holiday started, Tian Wei has been calling me every day to come to work. Even though I'm the boss, I'm living the life of a working-class person.

However, this is not entirely Tian Wei's fault. Recently, several companies have expanded their businesses one after another, and there are many things to handle. Some things require her to oversee herself, and since it happens to be during the holiday, having an extra decision-maker naturally increases efficiency.

"The Lunar New Year is just two days away. Why don't you bring Yanlai home to celebrate the New Year with us? It'll be more lively with more people."

Meng Wan was taken aback. "Then I'll ask him."

"Okay, just tell him to come over for a meal, and don't say anything else," Qin Yi instructed.

Meng Wan agreed, said a few more words, and then hung up the phone.

She actually understood Qin Yi's thoughts. She was afraid that Yan Nian would think of his parents and that he would be lonely during the New Year. Thinking about it carefully, how did she and Yan Nian spend the New Year in previous years?

She would have a hearty lunch with the Tang family and their relatives that would make her indigestion, and then in the evening, she would go to the Yan family home to visit Chen Xiong with the Yan couple and have a proper family reunion dinner.

Since Yan Pingshun passed away and Jiang Yu fell into a deep sleep, the two of them have had little interest in celebrating the New Year. Last year, they only had a meal with Chen Xiong before parting ways.

Another year has passed in the blink of an eye, yet there is a sense of melancholy, as if things have changed and people are no longer the same.

"Boss, this is the final report. If there are no problems, the project can be finalized, and we will arrange for it to be launched after the New Year."

Meng Wan snapped out of her thoughts, confirmed that everything was correct, and signed her name.

Have all the year-end bonuses been distributed?

"The finance department said the payments will be completed today."

Has the holiday notice been issued yet?

"It's done. You're on vacation starting tomorrow." Tian Wei took the documents signed by Meng Wan.

"Are you going to spend this year in the hospital too?"

Seemingly surprised that Meng Wan would ask this, Tian Wei paused for a moment, but still nodded in response.

“Qian Yixuan has a friend who specializes in psychiatry. This is his business card. I have already spoken to him. He will be visiting relatives in China on the third day of the Lunar New Year. He will be free that day.”

Tian Wei's eyes lit up. "Thank you, boss."

"I'm only responsible for connecting the wires; you'll have to cover the costs yourself."

Meng Wan has always acted with discretion and never overstepped the bounds. All her arrangements are just right. Even when helping others, she considers their acceptance level while ensuring that she doesn't do favors for nothing.

This is why she doesn't suffer any backlash when she helps others. She knows that human nature is greedy, and if she helps too much, the other person will take it for granted, and then she will lose more than she gains.

"Of course, I'm already very grateful that you've helped me this much." Tian Wei rarely showed her emotions so openly.

She clutched the business card tightly in her hand, as if grasping at the last straw.

She was countless times grateful that she had joined this company and that she had worked hard enough to seize the opportunity given to her by Meng Wan and climb up to where she is now!

Without Meng Wan, her low-level employee earning 3,000 yuan a month would not have been able to afford her mother's medical expenses.

"Alright, if there's no other work, you can pack up and get ready for the holiday. Happy New Year."

"Happy New Year to you too." Facing the girl who was eight years younger than her, Tian Wei felt more respect than anything else.

With the last document signed, the year's busy work finally came to a temporary end. Meng Wan stretched, packed her things, and walked out of the company building, where Yan Nian was already waiting downstairs.

"You've worked hard." Yan Nian hugged Meng Wan, patted her head, and then handed her the milk tea.

"Are you done with things at the Yan family's?" Meng Wan took the drink, took a sip; it was hot, but not very sweet.

Upon closer inspection, it became clear that Yan Nian had specifically ordered less sugar.

"Yeah, I got a day off yesterday, and today I went with Yao Qinglin to wrap things up. Are you done on your end?"

Yan Nian put his scarf on Meng Wan and opened the car door for her to get in.

"It's over." Meng Wan fastened her seatbelt.

"By the way, my mom asked you to come over for a meal during the New Year. I was thinking we should go home for lunch first, and then go over to wish Grandpa Chen a Happy New Year together in the evening. What do you think?"

“…Okay, we’ll do as you say.” Yan Nian paused for a moment, but quickly returned to normal.

"Do you have any other plans this afternoon?" Yan Nian asked.

Meng Wan thought for a moment and then shook her head.

"Let's go to the supermarket together after dinner to buy some New Year's goods, and then send them to Uncle, Aunt and Grandpa Chen later."

"Have you finished your business purchases?"

"Yao Qinglin has already made arrangements, and the items will be delivered gradually over the next couple of days. We'll discuss the others who require a home visit separately. I was thinking that it would be more sincere for Grandpa Chen and the others to buy the items themselves."

When Yan's father was still alive, they handled all of these matters. Now, Yan Nian is no longer as overwhelmed as she was the first time dealing with these trivial matters; instead, she can arrange everything in an orderly manner.

"Well done." Meng Wan patted Yan Nian's head, as if coaxing a child.

Yan Nian smiled indulgently, pinched her cheek, and then started the car.

The Meng family moved to a new house, which was much larger than their previous one. The eldest and third sons rarely came back, so they each had a room, while the others each had a single room. To Meng Wan and Yan Nian's surprise, the Meng family specifically reserved the empty bedroom for Yan Nian.

They used the name Mei to encourage him to come and eat more often.

After moving into the new house at the Meng family home, Meng Wan returned to her family home. It wasn't that Meng Wan or her family objected, but rather that Yan Nian himself suggested it.

Yan Nian's original words were: We have a long life ahead of us, so there's no rush. Let's go back and spend more time with our families.

Meng Wan was unwilling, but she couldn't resist Yan Nian's repeated persuasion and moved back. However, she would still visit Yan's house in her spare time.

Occasionally, Yan Nian would come over for a meal. Sometimes, if he ate late, he would stay overnight at the Meng family's house. Gradually, traces of Yan Nian's life began to appear in the Meng family's house.
