Chapter 135 Magnanimity

"Yes, there's nothing that can be done. If I end up on the streets again, please remember to take me in."

Tang Qi is still the same Tang Qi; two out of every three sentences he utters are lies.

"It would be best if we actually slept on the streets," Meng Wan said irritably.

Two soft laughs came from the other end of the phone.

"Don't worry, I have a plan."

Hearing this, Meng Wan finally felt relieved. She looked up at the photo on the table, feeling a strange unease.

"If we really go bankrupt, it wouldn't be a bad idea to take you in."

After saying that, he hung up the phone without waiting for Tang Qi to say anything.

The beeping sound came through, and Tang Qi smiled, looking to be in a good mood.

Tang Qi has been very busy lately, and he hasn't slept more than three hours in the past two days. He rubbed his temples and leaned back in his chair. The fatigue on his face had faded considerably because of the phone call.

"You little ingrate, at least you have some conscience."

He muttered to himself, looking at his phone that had gone dark. But the next second, the screen lit up again.

Tang Qi suppressed his smile and sat up straight.

"Don't forget to have lunch with the Wen family's daughter at Suixuan Pavilion tomorrow at noon." Tang Sheng's words were cold, devoid of the warmth of an ordinary father and son.

"I understand." Tang Qi replied indifferently, his eyes showing no emotion whatsoever, as if the person on the other end of the phone was a stranger.

"You know the current situation of the Tang family. They absolutely need to get their hands on that sum of money from the Wen family. I don't need to tell you how to behave, right?"

"Mm," Tang Qi replied, too lazy to say another word.

The other party didn't seem to care about his attitude and hung up the phone immediately after receiving a positive response.

Tang Qi sneered, threw his phone on the table, and ignored it.

Nevertheless, he went to the meeting place the next day.

When Wen Qinglian arrived, Tang Qi was already in his seat, staring blankly out the window.

Despite being half an hour late, Wen Qinglian showed no remorse whatsoever. After all, given the Tang family's current situation, without their investment, they would be doomed.

She is Tang's lifeline now. What difference does it make if she arrives a little later? She can only wait obediently anyway.

Wen Qinglian suppressed her smugness and walked straight over.

The bag's chain dangled, and a waiter pulled out a chair for Wen Qinglian to sit down.

Hearing the noise, Tang Qi slowly turned his head around.

He was dressed in a suit, and his impeccable bone structure and appearance pleased Wen Qinglian greatly. She must have looked at his profile before the blind date; someone from a wealthy family like her naturally had many more options.

Without a doubt, Wen Qinglian was very satisfied with Tang Qi, both in terms of family background and appearance.

If a family needs to rely on her own family to maintain its prosperity, one can imagine her status after marrying into it.

Thinking this, she unconsciously raised her chin, exuding arrogance.

"You're Tang Qi?"

She sized up Tang Qi, but he didn't fawn over her as she had expected; instead, he was cold and indifferent. She was displeased, but also inexplicably aroused her desire to challenge him.

"Who are you?"

Wen Qinglian chuckled, thinking that Tang Qi was playing hard to get.

"Wen Qinglian." When she said her name, she raised her chin, her arrogance evident.

"Oh." Tang Qi's reaction was so indifferent that Wen Qinglian's lips drooped immediately.

"It's so good to see Miss Wen here. I was worried that she had been in a car accident and was now lame."

That's how Tang Qi is; a single, casual remark can leave someone speechless. Wen Qinglian was somewhat smug when she heard the first half of his sentence, but when she heard the second half, the corner of her mouth twitched.

"Let's order." Before Wen Qinglian could get angry, Tang Qi turned the menu over.

Wen Qinglian suppressed her anger, and as if to vent her frustration, she deliberately ordered expensive dishes that were clearly more than enough for two people.

"Young Master Tang shouldn't be too bothered by such a small amount of money, right?" Wen Qinglian closed the menu and handed it to the waiter.

"Miss Wen has a good appetite; she certainly doesn't seem like someone who's been in a car accident. Bring these." The first sentence was addressed to Wen Qinglian, and the second was naturally addressed to the waiter.

Wen Qinglian gritted her teeth; she hadn't actually been in a car accident!

She paused briefly until the dishes were served, then found a topic to continue the conversation.

She put the meat into her mouth with her fork, wiped her mouth with a napkin, and then looked up at Tang Qi.

“I saw your sister yesterday… Oh, I misspoke, I meant that fake sister who usurped my place, I remember… her name is Tang, no! Meng Wan, right?”

As she spoke, Wen Qinglian looked Tang Qi up and down, seemingly wanting to see how he would react.

Unfortunately, Tang Qi continued eating calmly without making any statement.

"You usurping sister, you ruined a dress that cost me thirty million."

Tang Qi raised an eyebrow and finally glanced at Wen Qinglian. The latter, thinking Tang Qi was gloating and had found the right topic, began to speak on her own.

"She's not very old, but she's got a really tough mouth. She and her brother, a minor celebrity who's only just started to gain some fame, were threatening to compensate me." Her face was full of mockery, as if she wasn't the one who had been humiliated by Meng Wan yesterday.

"In the end, they have the dirty blood of the poor in their bones. They are not only ignorant, but also vulgar in their manners. Even if they have received more than ten years of elite education, they are still rotten to the core."

As she spoke, she shook her head, her face showing undisguised disgust.

"I'm magnanimous. It's only thirty million. I figured the two of them couldn't afford to pay it back, so I let them go."

“Magnanimous?” Tang Qi looked at her with a half-smile.

"It's just my pocket money."

“Since that’s the case…” Tang Qi stood up, and Wen Qinglian’s gaze followed him upwards.

"What do you want to do?" Looking at the wine glass in Tang Qi's hand, Wen Qinglian had a bad feeling.

"It's nothing, I just wanted to offer Miss Wen a toast."

Upon hearing this, Wen Qinglian secretly breathed a sigh of relief and also picked up her wine glass and stood up, but before she could speak...

'Tick-tock...tick-tock...'

Red wine dripped down her hair.

People around them looked over and whispered among themselves.

"What are you doing!" Wen Qinglian demanded in a shrill voice.

"I'm sorry, it was a slip of the hand. Miss Wen is so forgiving, I hope you can forgive my accident?"

That expression was exactly the same as Meng Wan's yesterday.

Wen Qinglian clenched her fists and was about to throw the wine at Tang Qi with her wine glass, but the latter had already anticipated this and easily dodged it by tilting his head slightly, although a little wine stain still got on his suit.

"I think it would be better for Miss Wen to deal with this first." Tang Qi showed no sign of anger; his calm demeanor was chilling.

"You just wait!" Wen Qinglian gritted her teeth, pushed back her chair, and was about to leave.

Suddenly, a foot stretched out from the next table. Wen Qinglian was in a fit of anger and didn't see it. She twisted her foot and fell to the ground.
