Meng Wan didn't accept the food; she simply told the waiter who took her order, "The usual."
Seeing this, the two took the menu back and added some more dishes. Coincidentally, they all said the same names.
Lin Bai chuckled when he heard that five dishes in a row were the same.
"Just add these five dishes, that's all." Meng Wan resisted the urge to facepalm and ended the farce.
"How's the merger going?"
"That's about it, we're almost at the final stage."
Where is Tang Li?
"Eat and drink as you please, more carefree than anyone else."
Meng Wan chuckled softly, seemingly already envisioning Tang Li's smug expression.
"By the way, sister... Meng Wan, what's your relationship with the Qin family like?"
Lin Bai's words made Meng Wan pause.
"They came looking for you?"
"To be precise, they were looking for my grandfather. I happened to go home that day to pick something up, and they said he was your maternal grandfather. They implied that they wanted to get their grandson into school, but unfortunately... those paintings weren't very good."
Lin Bai curled his lip. He had seen plenty of people who tried to curry favor to get into Berlin since he was a child.
"What did the old man say?"
While they were talking, the dishes were served one after another.
"He knows your personality, so he laughed it off and it didn't escalate into a fight."
He asked me for a letter of recommendation, but I didn't give it to him.
"Understood, I will pass it on to the old man."
While the two were chatting, two other people had already started drinking. They were drinking one glass after another, as if deliberately trying to antagonize each other.
Who ordered the drinks?
Now the two of them pointed at each other in perfect unison.
"Let them be. It's quite rare to see Tang Qi drinking." Lin Bai was purely watching with amusement.
Meng Wan suppressed the urge to sigh, ignored the two childish men, and started eating by herself.
The two ate and drank their fill, their faces flushed red. Fortunately, they were both good drinkers; in fact, they became quieter than usual when drunk, and people who didn't know them well wouldn't have been able to tell they were intoxicated.
"Why did you take him away? Let me drive you back together." Lin Bai helped Tang Qi up, who stood obediently, completely different from his usual arrogant self.
"No need, we already drove." Meng Wan got her driver's license after she turned 18 and passed every time on the first try; she's a very good driver.
"Okay, then be careful on the road, we're leaving." Lin Bai was about to help Tang Qi into the car when Tang Qi suddenly broke free from his hand and walked in front of Meng Wan.
Yan Nian looked at her, and although he was still confused, he still subconsciously stood in front of Meng Wan.
Tang Qi didn't try to coax her; he simply shoved Yan Nian away, his large hand landing squarely on her face. Yan Nian bared her teeth and lunged forward, but Meng Wan grabbed her arm.
Yan Nian was quite sensible; he quieted down as Meng Wan took his hand.
"What's wrong?"
"Come to Shengshi in a couple of days." Tang Qi spoke without slurring his words, and his expression appeared quite calm. For a moment, one might have thought he was faking being drunk.
"What are you going to Shengshi for?" Shengshi is the company jointly owned by Tang Qi and Lin Bai.
"Come and sign the contract; five percent of the shares are yours."
"mine?"
“Yes, your brother arranged it from the very beginning. You hold 5%, Tang Li holds 3%, all of which are from his own shares. He was originally the largest shareholder, but now I am the largest shareholder.”
Lin Bai shrugged and explained.
Meng Wan was at a loss for words. Back in the alley, she and Tang Qi were practically inseparable, but since he went to boarding school, she had been forced to break free and grow up on her own.
So she chose to stop interfering in many things, and he became increasingly withdrawn, his behavior more and more eccentric, making him unpredictable. The two were like two intersecting lines, briefly meeting, and then gradually drifting apart.
But now, Meng Wan realizes that there is no such thing as drifting apart; they are indeed intersecting lines, but they are intersecting lines that extend infinitely.
They went down different paths, but the point where they intersected was never resolved.
"Money gives you confidence. I've been with the Tang family for 17 years, I should at least try to make some money off them..."
Tang Qi remained indifferent, while Meng Wan, for some reason, released Yan Nian's hand and hugged Tang Qi.
Tang Qi was taken aback by the sudden hug. His hands froze in mid-air, unsure of what to do. After a while, he stiffly patted her back, just like he did every time there was a thunderstorm, gently patting her...
"Thank you, brother."
"Hmm." Tang Qi rubbed her head, the corners of his mouth seemed to be slightly upturned, but the curve was so slight that it was hard to notice unless you looked closely.
As for the 5% stake, Meng Wan will definitely want it. No one can predict what will happen in the future, but if something unexpected does happen, that 5% stake could be crucial in determining the outcome.
As the car drove away, Meng Wan turned around and met those wet eyes.
She chuckled softly, and in a daze, she saw a well-behaved golden retriever sitting on the ground, holding a leash in its mouth, waiting for its owner to adopt it. The sight softened her heart.
She reached out her hand, and Yan Nian immediately grabbed it. Their fingers intertwined, holding each other's hands tightly.
"Let's go, I'll take you home."
Yan Nian nodded, and Meng Wan opened the door. He got in and obediently sat in the passenger seat.
Meng Wan closed the door and walked to the other side. Turning her head, she saw that Yan Nian had already fallen asleep on the back of the chair.
He sleeps very quietly, doesn't grind his teeth or snore, and is unusually well-behaved.
Meng Wan smiled and fastened his seatbelt. The next second, she felt something soft press against her head, kissing her hair.
"Wanwan." In the quiet car, Yan Nian murmured softly.
"I'm here." Meng Wan stood up, rubbed his head, and spoke as if she were coaxing a child.
In a daze, it felt like I had returned to my childhood.
While his father wasn't looking, Yan Nian secretly drank a sip of his wine. When they ate, his face was flushed, and his father thought he had a fever. Only after taking a closer sniff did he realize that he had been drinking wine.
But apart from his flushed face, he had no other symptoms and answered questions fluently. Just as they breathed a sigh of relief, Yan Nian tilted his head back and fell asleep. They couldn't wake him up no matter what they did, which made the three of them laugh non-stop.
At that time, he was carried back to bed by Yan's father. He was mumbling something in a daze. He waved his hand and grabbed the hand of Xiao Tangwan, who was covering him with a blanket, and refused to let go.
Because of this, Yan Nian was ridiculed by Jiang Yu for a long time.
"We're going home now, be a good boy/girl."
Yan Nian nodded.
The temperature inside the car was just right, and Meng Wan drove very smoothly. By the time they arrived, Yan Nian had already fallen asleep.
Meng Wan had no choice but to help him unbuckle his seatbelt and get out of the car to open his side door. When the butler came out, Meng Wan refused his help.
The housekeeper who used to serve Jiang Yu was given a large sum of money by Yan Nian so that she could return to her hometown to live out her old age in peace. This is the new one.
"Drive the car back to the garage."
After handing the keys to the housekeeper, Meng Wan helped Yan Nian upstairs.
