The sports meet was fast approaching, and only Meng Wan from the Meng family went.
It's not that other people are unwilling to go, but the school can only send one or two parents at most. After all, there are children from other schools participating in the competition, and too many people could easily lead to accidents.
When Meng Wanyan and Meng Zhiyao arrived, they ran into Tang Qi and Tang Li.
"Tang Wan!"
Hearing the sound, Meng Wan turned around and saw Tang Li running towards her. Fortunately, she exercised regularly, had a stable stance, and strong arms, so she caught Tang Li steadily, preventing him from being thrown into the air.
"You've arrived quite early." Tang Qi walked over unhurriedly.
He glanced at Yan Nian, who smiled and nodded at him as a greeting.
Tang Qi turned his gaze away and looked at Meng Wan.
"You've come to visit the sports meet too?" Meng Wan was somewhat surprised to see Tang Qi there.
"Surprised?"
Meng Wan raised an eyebrow, everything was self-evident.
Tang Li wanted to say something more, but he couldn't stay still any longer and pulled Meng Wan to walk into the school.
"Let's go in. I'll show you our classroom. Meng Zhiyao's painting is still hanging on the wall." He sounded so proud, as if he had painted it himself.
"And what about you?" Meng Wan found it amusing and ruffled Tang Li's hair haphazardly.
"My...my..." Tang Li frowned, thinking about how to answer, but stammered and couldn't say a word.
"Tang Li's was a speech contest, and he took the gold medal and certificate home. Mine is hanging up because each class can only send one person to participate, and when I won, the teacher asked me if I could hang it in the classroom, so I did," Meng Zhiyao added softly.
"Yes!" Tang Li smiled, his eyes narrowing, his earlier helplessness gone.
Meng Wan smiled and was pulled by the two men, one on each side, to the classroom and then to other places.
Yan Nian and Tang Qi had long been forgotten by the two children, and they silently followed behind, watching the backs of the three people in front of them.
"I didn't expect President Yan to have time to participate in the sports meet even during the project's progress." Tang Qi said meaningfully.
The two have recently been collaborating on a business project, which happens to be during the busiest phase of the project.
"How can we compare to President Tang? He doesn't need to go to the factory to keep an eye on things. It seems he's very confident in his quality control."
"We will not let President Yan down in the end, but the next cooperation will depend on President Yan's sincerity."
The two of them went back and forth, both with smiles on their faces, but their words were full of barbs.
"What are you two whispering about in the back? When did your relationship become so good?" Meng Wan turned around and saw the two of them smiling at each other, which looked strange to anyone.
"Nothing, are you done with the tour?" Yan Nian turned around first and stepped forward.
"Okay, you two go to the playground and see where the seats are. I'll take two people to find their class to meet up."
"I'll go with you. I'll trouble Mr. Tang to go look for it first." Yan Nian took the initiative, but Tang Qi did not follow up on his words.
“Tang Li is my younger brother after all, so it’s more appropriate for me to accompany him to find the teacher. As the only outsider, President Yan should go find a seat first.” Tang Qi’s lips curled into a slight smile, but the smile did not reach his eyes.
Their eyes met, and sparks seemed about to explode between them at any moment.
"Both of them are going. How old are they? How childish!" Meng Wan rolled her eyes at their childish behavior, pushed Yan Nian toward Tang Qi, and then took the two children's hands and walked in the opposite direction.
Undeterred, the two tried to follow, but Meng Wan turned around and glared at them as if she had eyes in the back of her head.
"Don't follow me, hurry up and find a seat."
Fearing Meng Wan would be angry, Yan Nian stopped, looking somewhat aggrieved. Tang Qi seemed unresponsive, but he also paused for a moment, then stiffly turned around.
The two argumentative kids left, and Meng Wan sighed, taking the two little ones back to their class.
Perhaps it was fate that brought them together, for they ran into Qin Huai'an with his grandson Qin Yang as soon as they turned a corner. Their eyes met, and hatred and resentment almost overflowed from Qin Huai'an's eyes.
Meng Wan, with her two children, didn't intend to cause any trouble and was about to leave when Qin Yang broke free from Qin Huai'an's grasp and blocked their way.
"What? Are you looking for trouble?" Before Meng Wan could speak, Tang Li stood in front of the two of them like a little man.
He twisted his neck and hands, the threat couldn't be clearer.
"Hmph, don't be so smug! I've also signed up for the running race, and this time, I'm sure I'll beat you all!"
"Hmph, what a nerve you have to say you can win. If you can't even beat what you're good at, but can win what you're not good at, then maybe you should change careers as soon as possible?"
Tang Li's words undoubtedly struck a nerve with Qin Huai'an.
"Yangyang, let's go!" He took Qin Yang's hand, ignoring his struggles, and half-lifted, half-pulled him away.
"I'll beat you, you just wait!" Qin Yang complained, but he was no match for Qin Huai'an's strength and could only be dragged along. Despite this, he continued to shout arrogantly.
"Tch, you think you can beat me with this little bit of skill?" Tang Li gave Meng Wan the middle finger and got a tap on the head.
"Don't learn these things."
"Okay." Tang Li rubbed his head in dissatisfaction and muttered.
"Tang Li, Zhiyao!"
As the three were about to leave, Zhao Tianqi ran over from the front, full of energy, like a cheerful little golden retriever.
"Tianqi." Meng Zhiyao waved, smiling broadly.
Tang Li pursed his lips and looked to the other side.
"Hello, sister." Zhao Tianqi greeted Meng Wan politely.
Meng Wan nodded. "Are you here to meet them?"
"Yes, I saw they hadn't come back yet, so I ran over to look for them."
"Then you three go ahead, good luck in the competition."
Meng Wan let go and watched the three of them leave, bickering and joking.
When they returned to the playground, it was already packed with people. Thanks to their distinctive faces, Meng Wan quickly located their spots.
The two of them were quite in sync, leaving an empty seat between them. Like complete strangers, they stared straight ahead, their bodies upright, their faces expressionless, showing none of the excitement that other parents felt watching their children compete.
"Wanwan, over here." Yan Nian quickly saw her, stood up and waved to her with a bright smile, a far cry from his serious expression just now.
Meng Wan sat down next to the two men, and after they had exchanged a few words, the loudspeaker started playing.
"Welcome all parents to the Berlin Primary School and AFC Primary School Joint Sports Meet."
Meng Wan glanced around and waved to the three little ones after spotting them. Zhao Tianqi saw them first and patted Tang Li and Meng Zhiyao on the shoulder.
The two looked in the opposite direction of Zhao Tianqi's finger and waved frantically at Meng Wan, looking very excited.
