Qin Yi was unaware of all this. Since she hadn't received a response, she assumed that Tang Li was unwilling, so she deliberately spoke up to comfort him, making her tone a bit stronger.
"Xiao Li, didn't you say you liked Aunt Qin's cooking? You weren't lying to Aunt Qin, were you?"
"Of course not," Tang Li immediately retorted. "Aunt Qin's cooking is the best I've ever eaten. No matter how famous the chefs are, both domestically and internationally, none of their dishes are as delicious as yours!"
Qin Yi smiled and said, "Then it's settled. Be a good girl, and Aunt Qin will bring Yao Yao and your sister Wan Wan to pick you up. Tonight, your Uncle Meng is going to cook a big meal for us!"
Tang Li wanted to say something, but Qin Yi didn't give him a chance and hung up the phone directly.
When Qin Yi returned the phone to Meng Wan, the latter gave her a thumbs-up. Qin Yi winked, looking playful.
"Let's go pick them up." Qin Yi ruffled Meng Zhiyao's hair.
"Yes!" Meng Zhiyao's eyes shone brightly as she answered firmly, a smile on her face that was more cheerful than ever before.
Meanwhile, Tang Li was still staring blankly at the disconnected phone. He sat in his wheelchair, unconsciously stroking the Tyrannosaurus Rex's fur.
"Going to the Meng family?" Tang Qi seemed to have expected this, and pulled a small suitcase to his side.
"It contains your clothes and medicine, as well as Tyrannosaurus Rex dog food and toys. If you need more, just call the butler and have him send some over."
Tang Qi's face was expressionless, and his tone was stiff, like a robot rigidly completing a certain target.
"Oh." Tang Li pulled the box to his side and responded. He tried to act like a cold adult, but his deliberately lowered tone sounded rather comical.
This scene would never have happened in the past.
When the two first returned to China, they joined forces because of Meng Wan's case, but they never expected that their relationship would change so quickly.
Unfortunately, neither of them has realized this yet.
The Tang family members are not people who show their emotions outwardly, except for Tang Zhiyi. Most of the time, they keep their thoughts to themselves and don't get too close to any one person, even if that person is a family member.
The two didn't say much until the butler announced that Meng Wan and her entourage had entered. Only then did Tang Qi push Tang Li out, while the butler followed behind them, pulling their suitcases.
"Tang Li!" Meng Zhiyao waved to Tang Li when he saw him come out.
"Zhiyao!" Tang Li was equally excited. If it weren't for his leg injury, he would have already run over.
It had only been a short time since they last met, but it felt like they hadn't seen each other for ten days or half a month.
"Hello, my brother has troubled you." Compared to Tang Li's excitement, Tang Qi was much calmer and greeted Qin Yi politely.
Perhaps because of Meng Wan, Qin Yi was very fond of this seemingly cold but actually polite and thoughtful child. After learning about Tang Qi's experiences from childhood to adulthood, she even felt more affection for him.
Without Meng Wan's knowledge, Qin Yi would contact Tang Qi on her own, usually to invite him over for dinner and to remind him to keep warm in the cold weather.
"It's no trouble at all. It's actually more lively with Xiao Li at home." Qin Yi smiled and handed him the bag.
"These are some pastries and snacks I made this morning. You said last time that you don't like sweets, so I made some without sugar. Try them and see if you like them. If you like them, I'll bring you more next time I come."
Tang Qi lowered his eyes, looking at the bag in his hand. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly, so slightly that it was almost imperceptible unless you looked closely.
"Thank you, I appreciate your help."
"What trouble? You young people these days only know how to work. When you get busy, you don't even have time to eat. You only care about looking handsome and beautiful in your clothes, and you don't know anything about keeping warm. It's the change of seasons recently, so I put some broth in it for you. Drink something hot, okay?"
Qin Yi, being a mother of several children, could talk endlessly once she started, her tone full of concern.
Tang Qi showed no impatience and nodded in agreement to each one.
"Since Xiao Li is staying at home for a while, and you don't have anything to do after get off work, come over for dinner. I'll cook your favorite dishes. It just so happens that we're here today, so let's go together."
"Next time, I still have things to do today." Tang Qi's tone softened a bit, though it was still somewhat stiff, but at least it wasn't as sharp-tongued and cold as it was when facing others.
Qin Yi looked regretful. "Then how about Sunday? You don't have to work on the weekend, right?"
Tang Qi looked at Meng Wan, who shrugged, clearly not intending to help, and even seemed to be enjoying the show.
Tang Qi sighed almost imperceptibly, "Okay."
"Then we'll be going now. You must come on Sunday. Don't worry about Xiao Li, I'll take care of her. Yao Yao can keep her company too."
Tang Qi nodded and watched them get into the car.
"Brother, I'm leaving." Tang Li was carried into the car by Tang Qi.
"Don't cause trouble for Aunt Qin." Tang Qi placed his hand on Tang Li's head and gave it a stiff and clumsy ruffle.
"I understand." Tang Li, unusually, didn't retort and nodded obediently.
"Let's go, heat it up a bit before eating." Meng Wan waved to him before getting into the car.
Tang Qi stood there until the car drove away before going inside. Tang Li leaned out of the car window, but after being warned by Meng Wan, he obediently pulled his head back in, and the window was locked.
Meng Zhiyao patted his hand, "It's okay, you can video call if you miss your brother. Your brother will come over for dinner on Sunday."
His voice was very soft, and he spoke close to Tang Li's ear.
"I don't want to," Tang Li muttered softly.
