"I wanted to take you back to your dorm, but the student council president wouldn't let you go." Hu Lou's expression was helpless, and her tone was tinged with grievance and complaint.
Xu Jiaojiao's lips curled up slightly, as if she had seen a childish side of Hu Lou that no one else knew about.
"It's okay, my dorm isn't far from here. I've finished my final touches, you keep up the good work."
"I'll send you the photos tonight, but I don't know how late it will be, so I'm saying goodnight in advance."
“We can say it on WeChat too,” Xu Jiaojiao said, tossing her hair.
“But I’d rather say it in person.” Hu Lou lowered his eyes and reached out to take Xu Jiaojiao’s hand, but Jiang Yu stopped him.
Hu Lou seemed a little disappointed, but he had no choice but to leave.
Xu Jiaojiao waved goodbye to Hu Lou, vaguely sensing that a gaze was watching her.
But when she turned her head, there was nothing there. Then, when she turned back again, a human face was right in front of her. Xu Jiaojiao was so frightened that she lost her balance and fell to the ground.

Jiang Yu poked Xu Jiaojiao's chest with considerable force, causing her chest to ache slightly.
"You've misunderstood." Xu Jiaojiao slapped her hand away.
"It's best if it's a misunderstanding! Don't think that dressing nicely will get you into their circle. The only reason you were able to talk to Hu Lou was because of your roommate, Meng Wan, right?"
Jiang Yu's face was filled with undisguised mockery.
Xu Jiaojiao pursed her lips tightly and remained silent.
However, Jiang Yu did not let her off the hook. She grabbed Xu Jiaojiao by the collar, her face full of mockery.
"A country bumpkin is a country bumpkin. No matter how expensive the cosmetics or how nice the clothes, he will only exude a poor and shabby vibe. Don't be blinded by the hustle and bustle of the city and resort to any means to climb the social ladder."
Xu Jiaojiao didn't quite remember how she got back to the dormitory. She looked completely lost and dejected, which startled Guo Qingqing and Lin Mi, who thought that Xu Jiaojiao had been bullied during the event.
"What's wrong?" Guo Qingqing asked cautiously.
Xu Jiaojiao didn't speak, but simply shook her head silently.

The two shut their mouths, nodded, and didn't ask any more questions.
Xu Jiaojiao seemed to have lost her soul. She picked up her pajamas from the bed and was about to go to the bathroom, but stopped in front of Meng Wan's bed.
"What's wrong?" Meng Wan put down the book in her hand.
Xu Jiaojiao clutched the clothes in her hand, her hesitant expression causing Meng Wan to frown.
"Should we go outside to say this?"
"No, no need!" Xu Jiaojiao replied quickly this time.
"I received an invitation to the grand event."
"Shengkuang? I know that company. I've been in contact with my brother's company recently. It has good prospects and strength. You can consider it. You should be able to learn a lot."
"They're having an exchange event, and knowing I know you, they hope you can come and visit."
"when?"
Meng Wan opened her schedule, which Tian Wei had made for her. The company had recently received a lot of orders and was still selecting artists. Tian Wei felt that her schedule was quite long and hoped that she would attend as many events as possible.

After getting into bed and turning off the dormitory lights, Xu Jiaojiao still couldn't fall asleep. She tossed and turned, and her chattering annoyed Lin Mi.
Xu Jiaojiao apologized and dared not move again. Her phone vibrated several times in a row, so she quickly switched it to silent mode.
Upon opening the message, she found it was from Hu Lou. He had sent several photos of her bustling about in the auditorium, photos that even she herself didn't know when Hu Lou had taken.
She was somewhat surprised, as if seeing herself as others perceived her for the first time. She flipped through the photos one by one, including one of her standing up to ask a question to a guest.
In the photo, she holds her head high, looking calm and confident. Only she knows that at that moment, her palms were wet and her heart was pounding as if it would burst out of her chest.
"Thanks."
"You're still awake?"
As soon as Xu Jiaojiao sent the thank-you text message, she immediately received a reply from Hu Lou.
"It's time to sleep, why aren't you asleep yet?"
