Everyone cheered, but Lan Xing covered her mouth and her eyes were red.
She chuckled softly, trying to hold back her tears, and the curve of her lips proved the last point.
The door clicked open.
Ji Sheng rushed in and scooped Lan Xing up in his arms. Meng Wan smiled, and in the crowd, Yan Nian secretly kissed Meng Wan's cheek.
"I love you so much, Wanwan."
As everyone offered their blessings to the newlyweds, someone whispered in her ear, expressing his love for her.
"Don't rush, put the bride's shoes on first."
Cui Qingling handed the embroidered shoes to Ji Sheng.
The latter realized what was happening, smiled foolishly, and carefully placed Lanxing on the soft bed, treating her like the most precious jewel in the world. He held her ankle and put her shoes on.
Finally, they picked up the bride. Fearing they would miss the auspicious time, everyone quickly packed their things, got into the car, and headed to the wedding venue.
When I arrived, the guests were already seated.
Lan Xing waited outside for her turn to enter, while Ji Sheng stood on the stage waiting for his bride to enter.
Meng Wan and the others came in through another door. Qin Yi quickly waved to them, and after they were all seated, she smiled and wiped Meng Wan's sweat.
"Did the two little ones cause any trouble?" Qin Yi turned to Meng Wan and asked in a low voice.
The two little ones also need to be flower girls for the bride, so they're very busy.
"No, I just tricked Yan Nian." Meng Wan smiled, showing no sign of blame.
Just then, Yan Nian sat down. Meng Wan blinked, looking completely innocent.
Yan Nian smiled helplessly and indulgently. Because Meng Wan had her hair done, he resisted the urge to rub her head, but instead gently stroked her cheek with his thumb before sitting down next to her.
The emcee interacted with the guests on stage. Soon, the door was pushed open, and Lan Xing walked in, supported by her father.
Two children followed behind her, not misbehaving, and looked quite handsome in their white suits.
Ji Sheng stood still, his gaze fixed on Lan Xing, watching her walk towards him step by step.
He took a deep breath, trying his best to hide his excitement.
"Ji Sheng, I'm entrusting Lan Xing to you." Lan Zhenxie, her eyes red, handed Lan Xing's hand to Ji Sheng.
"Dad, don't worry." Ji Sheng looked at Lan Zhenxie with unwavering determination.
"Mr. Ji Sheng, whether rich or poor, healthy or sick, whether in the good times or bad, when the other person needs you most, are you willing to stay by their side for life and never leave them forever?"
"I do!" Ji Sheng answered without hesitation.
"Ms. Lanxing, whether in wealth or poverty, in health or sickness, in the good times or the bad, when the other person needs you most, are you willing to stay by their side for life and never leave them forever?"
"I do," Lan Xing said with a smile.
"Please exchange rings, bride and groom."
The moment the ring was put on, the groom lifted the bride's veil and kissed her.
Fireworks rained down, scattering them throughout the venue.
Their happiness was witnessed and blessed by their family and friends.
Meng Zhilian sat at the very back, with He Tong sitting next to him.
"It's our turn to go on stage." He Tong patted his shoulder; the people on stage had already set up their instruments.
"Hmm." Meng Zhilian got up and went on stage, sitting on a high stool with a guitar hanging on his body.
He Tong held the microphone stand and adjusted its height.
The two were specially invited by Lan Xing at Meng Wan's request to warm up the atmosphere. Their appearances are universally appealing, making them the perfect choice to end the event.
The room quieted down, and Meng Zhilian gently strummed the guitar, the sound filling the entire venue. The two, who had changed their clothes, then took the opportunity to toast the guests.
Lan Xing was his fleeting first love, a momentary flutter of the heart that the young man could never forget. But they were both adults now, and the best course of action was to leave each other alone.
Seeing her find her own happiness while I strive towards my own dreams, without interfering with each other—that's the best ending.
His voice was gentle, concealing all his thoughts. At this moment, he was just an observer witnessing her happiness, sending her his blessings in whatever way he could.
The wedding finally ended, and Lanxing successfully achieved the joy of receiving both her marriage certificate and graduation certificate.
On Meng Wan's side, everyone except Guo Qingqing chose to stay after the graduation ceremony.
When they saw them off at the airport, Guo Qingqing cried her eyes out and promised to come back and get together with them every year.
After that, Meng Wan also went with the school team to a small rural village in a remote area to work as a teaching assistant.
Although Meng Boqun and the others were worried, they respected Meng Wan's decision. They packed a 24-inch suitcase, wishing they could fit their entire house inside. Before leaving, they also gave Meng Wan a stack of cash, just in case her bank card wouldn't be usable there.
On the day of her departure, a group of people wanted to see her off, but Meng Wan declined because she felt it would attract too much attention. After having dinner with her friends, Yan Nian drove her to the airport.
Before parting, Yan Nian looked reluctant to leave, holding onto her hand and refusing to let go.
Meng Wan sighed, "It'll only be three months, I'll be back soon."
"Three months, almost half a year has passed, and you still won't let me go with you," Yan Nian muttered, her tone tinged with resentment and grievance.
"The Yan family has so many things to do, and the signal isn't widespread over there yet. If there are communication problems, you'll have to run back and forth, which will be even more troublesome. I'll be back soon, okay?"
Meng Wan spoke gently, as if coaxing a child. She cupped Yan Nian's face and kissed him.
