Chapter 60: I Just Don't Talk to You

"Thank you for your help today." At the alley entrance, Meng Wan said goodbye to Qian Yixuan.

"Can you handle this yourself? Or should I come in with you?" Qian Yixuan asked, somewhat worried.

"No need, you should go back now. See you next week."

Knowing Meng Wan's personality, Qian Yixuan said no more and drove away under her watchful gaze.

Only three people remained at the alley entrance. Meng Wan held one hand of each of the two, while Tyrannosaurus Rex squatted at Meng Zhiyao's feet, neither moving nor making a sound.

"Can he lead your Tyrannosaurus Rex?"

Before making any decisions on her own, Meng Wan first consulted Tang Li's opinion.

"Hmph, let him walk it. His family is so poor, it's normal that they've never seen such a handsome dog before." Tang Li turned his face to the side, his tone not so much derogatory as it was arrogant.

Meng Wan looked at his red ears, clicked her tongue, and ruffled his hair.

"Little brat, can't you speak properly?"

Tang Li was somewhat unconvinced and snorted. Meng Wan was too lazy to argue with a little brat, so she turned her gaze to Meng Zhiyao and softened her tone.

"The Tyrannosaurus Rex likes you very much. Could you please help it keep a good leash?"

Meng Zhiyao's eyes lit up. He held the rope in his hand and looked at Meng Wan as if he wanted to take credit.

"Well done." Meng Wan patted his head.

Meng Zhiyao lowered her head, feeling a little shy because of Meng Wan's praise.

Tang Li, who was standing to the side, saw this and was filled with jealousy.

"All you do is lecture me!"

"I'll praise you if you do well too," Meng Wan replied calmly to Tang Li's nonchalant accusation.

"So he did a good job? He didn't say a word, like a mute."

"I just don't talk to you."

The two bickered and argued, but Meng Zhiyao, who had been somewhat happy, lost her smile, stared at the rope, and her cheeks unconsciously puffed out.

Meng Wan could easily pick up on the changes in the emotions of those around her, but she didn't say anything. She simply squeezed Meng Zhiyao's hand. The gesture was small, but it had the magic to instantly make Meng Zhiyao happy.

When she opened the door, Qin Yi was startled by the dog that suddenly pounced on her.

"Tyrannosaurus Rex, sit!" Meng Wan shouted, and the Tyrannosaurus Rex immediately sat down, sticking out its tongue and wagging its tail, its black pupils flashing with joyful light.

Qin Yi breathed a sigh of relief. "Wanwan, what happened?"

"This is a long story, let's go inside first." Meng Wan's exhaustion was palpable, which made Qin Yi feel extremely sorry for her.

"You must be very tired."

"Thankfully, it's this guy who's a bit of a problem." Meng Wan pulled Tang Li out from behind her.

"Call someone!" Meng Wan placed her hand on the back of Tang Li's neck.

"Auntie." The tone was somewhat reluctant, but at least the person was addressed.

"Hey, come in. I just made water chestnut cake. Have some." Because she was worried about Meng Wan and Meng Zhiyao, Qin Yi had been somewhat absent-minded all day, so Meng Boqun told her to come back first.

Qin Yi was worried about her children and didn't know whether to sit or lie down, so she made water chestnut cakes to wait for them to come back.

The two children sat at the table eating water chestnut cake. The Tyrannosaurus Rex finally recognized its master and lay still at Tang Li's feet.

"Wanwan, what's going on?" Qin Yi pulled Meng Wan into the kitchen.

"The child is throwing a tantrum. I've already notified the Tang family, and they'll send him home soon."

"Um... how is Yaoyao today?" Qin Yi's eyes were full of worry and unease.

Meng Wan shook her head. "Don't worry, the result was much better than expected. By the way, Mom, I need to take him there again next week, is that okay?"

"Of course!" Qin Yi's expression visibly relaxed.

"To be honest, I find it unbelievable that Yaoyao would go out with you. Don't let his appearance fool you; he completely ignores everyone else, even Zhi..."

Qin Yi paused, then immediately changed the subject.

"You and Yaoyao have only known each other for a short time, but Yaoyao listens to you so much and is willing to go out with you. It seems that he really likes you."

As parents, we feel gratified to see our children getting along well.

"After I see him off, I'm going to the traditional Chinese medicine clinic. I won't be back for dinner tonight."

"Traditional Chinese medicine clinic? Are you feeling unwell?" Qin Yi frowned and reached out to touch Meng Wan's forehead.

Meng Wan's lips curled up slightly. From being at a loss at the beginning to accepting this concern calmly now.

"Didn't my second brother go to the medical clinic to study? I'll go and see him, and also visit my master."

"Okay, I'll go get some water chestnut cake. You can take it with you too. I deliberately put less sugar in it so that the elderly can eat it too."

Qin Yi acted immediately, hurriedly packing the pastries, and not forgetting to put one on a small plate and hand it to Meng Wan.

"Go and have something to eat to tide you over. Taking care of a child is exhausting, so take a rest first."

After saying that, he pushed Meng Wan out of the kitchen. The two children looked at Meng Wan at the same time. She shook her head helplessly, but a smile was on her lips.

Such casual conversations were unthinkable in the Tang family, but now they are happening in their daily lives.

At the dining table, the three of them enjoyed afternoon tea. Tang Li kept eating, but his eyes kept darting back and forth between Meng Wan and Meng Zhiyao.

"I've already notified the Tang family's driver; I'll take you downstairs in a bit."

"I'm not going back." Tang Li's face scrunched up.

"Do you still want the account?"

"You only know how to threaten me with this, Tang Wan. Can't you come up with something new?" Tang Li pouted and could only fork up a piece of pastry and stuff it into his mouth, biting it in frustration.

"It works well, that's enough." Meng Wan didn't even glance at him.
