Chapter 96 Sports Meet

Meng Zhili, Meng Boqun, and their two brothers had all told them about Tang Zhiyi's situation. They were relieved to know that Meng Wan was alright and didn't ask any more questions.

Meng Zhiyao successfully enrolled in school, with Tang Li responsible for picking her up and dropping her off. Tang Li and Zhao Tianqi, two lively characters in her class, were also there, and it was clear that Meng was gradually becoming more cheerful. The Meng family was very pleased.

Meng Wan also noticed that although Meng Zhiyao was still painting every day, the brighter colors she had never used before showed signs of having been used.

Although Aunt Liu's hand wasn't fully healed, after working hard for most of her life, she didn't know what to do when she was suddenly asked to rest for a month. So she would come to the shop every day to help out, wiping the tables and cleaning up the dishes.

At first, Qin Yi and Meng Boqun refused, but after hearing what she said, and with Meng Wan's tacit agreement to let Aunt Liu help, they went along with Aunt Liu, and the wages were still paid normally.

Time passed slowly, and finally the day of the sports meet arrived. The Meng family almost had their first family conflict over two tickets.

In the end, Meng Zhili and Meng Zhiyao were eliminated because they had to go to school; the Meng couple were forced to withdraw because of the burden of running their shop to support their family, and Meng Zhiyuan and Meng Zhilian successfully won two votes.

Before leaving, the two brothers looked refreshed, while Meng Wan had to prepare in advance and went to school with Meng Zhili early in the morning.

“We can’t let Wanwan lose face now. Luckily, the camera wasn’t lost. Take lots of pictures; we don’t have any of Wanwan’s photos yet,” Meng Boqun instructed.

"Don't worry, Dad, don't you trust my photography skills?" Meng Zhilian fiddled with the camera in his hand, casually took two photos, and only after confirming that there were no problems did he close the lid and hang it around his neck.

"Cheer for Wanwan! Don't say anything discouraging even if she doesn't win. I'll be back early this afternoon to make Wanwan her favorite dessert." Qin Yi chimed in, patting Meng Zhiyuan's arm.

"Okay, then we're off."

The two brothers left after their parents gave them instructions, while Meng Wan, on the other hand, received a class uniform from Su Ping as soon as she entered the room.

"This is yours. Everyone else has gone to the changing room to change. We need to go down and assemble right at nine o'clock. The show starts at nine-thirty. The teacher just said we need to go down early, so hurry up and change."

"Where's Lan Xing?" Meng Wan glanced around the classroom and saw only a few people lounging around; Lan Xing was nowhere to be seen.

"She was waiting for you, so I pushed her over to change first. She's probably waiting in the changing room now."

Meng Wan nodded and turned to leave, but bumped into Sun Lu. Fortunately, she reacted quickly and caught Sun Lu, preventing her from having a close encounter with the ground.

"Are you alright?" Meng Wan only let go of Sun Lu's hand after seeing that she had regained her footing.

Sun Lu's face turned pale. She shook her head, missed them, and returned to her seat.

Meng Wan and Su Ping exchanged a glance, and the latter shrugged, indicating that she knew nothing. Meng Wan didn't dwell on it, after all, she had no connection with Sun Lu.

"I'll go first."

"Okay, go straight to the playground after you change. I need to wait for the other two people to come and give them their clothes."

Meng Wan nodded, took her clothes, and headed straight for the changing room after leaving the classroom. As Su Ping had said, Lan Xing was already changed and waiting for her outside the changing room.

Who from your family is coming over today?

"My eldest brother and third brother argued all night yesterday."

Lan Xing smiled. "Great, now there are two more people to witness your victory."

The tickets for the academy are all registered under a name, and each student can bring a maximum of two people into the school to watch. In previous years, Meng Wan would just throw them away. Since she could use them in her last year, she was naturally happy for Meng Wan from the bottom of her heart.

After changing, the two went to the playground. Peng Zhe, as the sports committee member, had his eyes light up when he saw Meng Wan.

"Sister Wan, you've finally arrived! You're holding the class sign again this year. You're the face of our class. The moment you appear, we'll definitely outshine everyone else. We've won from the very beginning!" With that, he shoved the class sign into Meng Wan's hand.

The class sign was drawn by the art students in the class. It matched the design of the class uniform and stood out among the crowd and various other class signs.

While students were busy queuing, their families gradually entered the venue. Luxury cars were parked at the entrance, attracting students from No. 1 Middle School to watch through the fence.

Wow, these are all cars worth millions!

"Several million is too few. I've seen the one at the very top; it's worth 30 million!"

"Thirty million! I'd be happy with even a fraction of that. It's true what they say, comparisons are the thief of joy."

"Hey, Zhili, isn't your sister studying there? Why didn't you participate in their sports meet?" Meng Zhili's deskmate asked out of curiosity.

"Is he probably embarrassed because his own sister thinks he's ashamed?" Hong Yingqi walked over, his face full of sarcasm.

“Just a wall away, the younger sister is having a lavish sports meet among the rich kids, while the older brother can only pitifully watch from here. Tsk tsk tsk.” As he spoke, he shook his head a few times, looking quite sorry for Meng Zhili.

Faced with Hong Yingqi's provocation, Meng Zhili's deskmate was a little embarrassed, after all, it was Hong Yingqi who brought up the topic. Meng Zhili, however, did not react and his expression was indifferent, as if nothing could sway him.

"Let's go, the school bell is ringing."

"Oh, okay." His deskmate realized what was happening and immediately followed Meng Zhili away. Hong Yingqi, frustrated by his failed provocation, looked resentful but helpless.

"Let's go, Yingqi, we have a math quiz later."

Hong Yingqi gritted his teeth, his stomach aching slightly.

"What’s wrong with you?"

"It's alright." Hong Yingqi took a few deep breaths and slowly calmed down.

The little incident lasted only a moment, and then someone got out of the luxury car worth thirty million at the top.

"Mr. Yan, the school board members and other investors are already in the conference room." Yao Qinglin opened the car door, and Yan Nian got out. His well-tailored suit added a touch of maturity to his youthful face.

What time does the sports meet start?

"At 9:30, the main purpose of this meeting is to explain the flow of funds to the investors of this sports event. The meeting will last for half an hour."

Yan Nian glanced at his watch; the ceremony was ending just fifteen minutes before it was to begin.

Along the way to the school gate, many parents arrived early and greeted Yan Nian in unison. Yan Nian responded to each one but didn't engage in much conversation before heading straight to the meeting room.

Just as Yan Nian entered the teaching building, the brothers Meng Zhiyuan and Meng Zhilian stepped into the college gate.

Seeing that the two brothers had walked over, many people looked them over, but no one went up to talk to them.

For them, this sports meet was not just about watching the children perform, but more importantly, about making connections with other dignitaries through the children or using the children as a topic to secure previously unresolved collaborations.

Everything is ultimately for the benefit of their own businesses; those who have no value to them are not worth the time to engage in conversation. Of course, there are also parents who come simply for their children, though their motives vary in degree.

The two brothers didn't care about any of that and took their seats according to the markings on their tickets.

As soon as he sat down, Meng Zhilian saw a familiar figure.
