Chapter 146 Calling for People

"Are you alright?" Once out of Hu Lou's sight, Lin Mi let go of her hand.

"It's alright, thank you."

"Oh, by the way, take a look at this." What Lin Mi showed her was the post that the three of them had just been discussing.

After reading it, Meng Wan returned the phone to Lin Mi without showing any expression.

"You...aren't you going to call for backup?"

Meng Wan tilted her head, somewhat puzzled.

"Normally, shouldn't they say something like 'removing it'?"

"This kind of disturbance won't be big, and people will forget about it in a couple of days. There's no need to waste manpower on it."

If it were anyone else, Lin Mi would have thought the other person was faking it, but since it was Meng Wan, Lin Mi believed it.

Since the parties involved have already said so, Lin Mi naturally won't say anything more.

On the other side, Hu Lou followed his assistant into another private room, where a large group of people were sitting. When they saw him come in, their expressions varied, and one woman even frowned.

Hu Lou didn't care; there were probably no more than three people among them who genuinely wanted him to come.

"Grandpa." He bowed to the old man in the main seat.

"Where did you go?" Old Master Hu, dressed in a Zhongshan suit, held prayer beads in his hand, slightly raised his eyes, his imposing presence evident.

"I went to pick up a little gadget and greeted a friend when I ran into him."

Hu Lou had no intention of concealing his meeting with Meng Wan. After all, if he didn't say anything, his assistant would, and if he did, the old man wouldn't be interested and naturally wouldn't care who his friend was.

Hu Lou took a flat sandalwood box out of his suit pocket. The exterior was openwork, clearly a delicate handmade object.

All eyes were on the box, while Hu Lou handed it to his assistant.

The old man didn't take it, but only slightly raised his head. The assistant understood and opened the box.

It is a string of Buddhist prayer beads.

"This is top-quality agarwood. You've put a lot of thought into it."

The old man picked it up and stroked it for a moment, then nodded in satisfaction. Although his tone was calm, it was enough to change the expressions of the others, since he had only glanced at the gifts they had given him before instructing his assistant to put them away.

"Have a seat." This was an excuse for his lateness.

Hu Lou agreed and sat down next to the old man. This was a special honor bestowed upon him as the designated successor.

The Hu family had many members, but in Hu Lou's generation, there were only two boys, Hu Feng and Hu Lou. If Hu Feng hadn't acted recklessly, Hu Lou would never have had a son.

While one side was eating uneasily, Meng Wan was enjoying her meal to the fullest.

"Would you like anything else to eat?" Meng Wan pressed her lips together, her movements elegant.

Guo Qingqing quickly waved her hand, slumped unceremoniously in the chair, and pulled out a wet wipe to wipe her mouth.

"I'm so full, it's so delicious. What am I going to do if I can't stand the food at my usual little restaurants anymore!"

Meng Wan chuckled, "Next time you come, just say my name."

"That won't do. You can't take advantage like that!" Guo Qingqing always knew what she was doing. She was just teasing Meng Wan. If she actually agreed to Meng Wan's suggestion, she would be very insensible.

Seeing this, Meng Wan changed the subject.

"Should we rest a little longer, or should we go back?"

Lin Mi glanced at the time; it was already almost eight o'clock.

"Let's go back. We can stroll around the campus later to digest our food. I heard the school's night view is quite nice."

"Okay, Meng Wan, Jiao Jiao, what about you?"

The two nodded and accepted the invitation.

The group tidied themselves up, picked up their bags, and left. No matter how many times they looked around, Lin Mi and her companions were still amazed by the surrounding decorations.

The daytime scenery was already quite picturesque, but the nighttime scenery was just as beautiful, with a bustling atmosphere reminiscent of an ancient night market, and the crowds were even larger.

"You ungrateful little devil."

"Wanwan?"

Two familiar voices rang out in front of me.

"Tang Qi, Big Brother? How did you two end up together?"

Meng Wan looked up and saw the two of them standing together, which she found somewhat surreal.

The two men were dressed in suits, and standing next to them was a man Meng Wan had never seen before.

"Dinner with friends?" Meng Zhiyuan walked over, while Tang Qi and another man remained unhurried.

Tang Qi remained nonchalant, while the man beside her waved at her with a curious expression.

Meng Wan nodded, which was her way of greeting her.

"We've finished eating and are planning to go back to school."

Is everything alright?

"Hmm." The Meng family originally wanted to bring Meng Wan over, but Yan Nian took on the task, and Meng Wan felt it would be more convenient for both of them to report, so she declined the Meng family's offer to accompany her.

Because of this, the Meng family was disappointed for a long time, and Meng Wan had to comfort them for a long time.

She couldn't understand why someone who was already middle-aged was becoming more and more childish!

"And me too, you ungrateful little devil."

Meng Wan sighed and looked at him with a helpless expression.

"How did you two end up together? That's quite a sight."

"Business cooperation," Tang Qi summarized in four words.

The two exchanged a glance, and it was clear that neither of them was very satisfied with the other.

"Your roommates?" Meng Zhiyuan looked at the three girls huddled together behind Meng Wan, greeted them with a smile, and then looked at Meng Wan.

"Yes, let me introduce you. Lin Mi, Guo Qingqing, and Xu Jiaojiao."

"Hello, I am Wanwan's older brother, Meng Zhiyuan."

Tang Qi smiled and said, "I am her ex-brother, Tang Qi."

"I'm not any brother, my name is Lin Bai."

The three nodded and greeted each other, not daring to ask what the terms "elder brother" or "former brother" meant. They felt as if the two men were about to pick up cannons and blow each other up with a smile.
