Chapter 15 Summary: Buying Books, Digging a Well

Chapter 15 Summary: Buying Books, Digging a Well

June 2nd, it's time to receive a package again.

Suddenly I remembered that I had bought so many medicines, but the police hadn't come knocking on my door.

I've been so busy these past few days that I've completely forgotten about worrying about the police.

I drove my small truck to the rest stop.

It was as if I had reached some kind of agreement with the delivery guy; when he saw me, he came over to load the truck without saying a word.

Without saying a word, I scanned the code and paid 200 yuan.

When no one is picking up the package, the proprietress comes over to help.

The car was loaded in just one hour.

During that hour, I ate a bowl of spicy hot pot.

You need to eat your fill before you go home so you have the energy to work.

Before going home, I went to a furniture store and bought 20 shelves.

Once we got home, we first moved the shelf to the center of the basement.

The space left for the aisle is just enough to fit 20 shelves.

Before we could even sort out the medicines, a whole day was spent just assembling the shelves.

I'm completely baffled as to why assembling the shelves is so difficult for me.

I spent the whole day of June 3rd tidying up.

Medicines are the most valuable and are placed on the top shelf.

The top shelf is a bit too high for me; standing on a chair every time isn't a solution.

I plan to buy a staircase-style ladder next time I go to town.

A normal ladder leaning against a shelf might knock it over.

The ladder, shaped like a staircase, can stand upright by itself, so I can just climb up it.

The toiletries also arrived in whole boxes and were neatly categorized and placed on the shelves.

The small amount of kitchenware and tableware I bought were all in very worn-out cardboard or plastic bags.

I disassembled the box and replaced it with a storage box I bought myself.

My beloved complete set of tableware was also placed securely on the shelf.

The various beautiful cups and glasses were not placed in the basement, but on the large bookshelf in the small west room.

The large bookshelf is made of solid wood, with double glass cabinet doors at the bottom.

The rest are all neatly arranged squares, giving them a simple yet elegant look.

The fragile cups were placed inside the glass cabinet, while the remaining colorful mugs were scattered in different compartments.

I can't help but be very satisfied with my own sophisticated aesthetic sense; what a self-absorbed girl! (Indulging in narcissism)

Feeling inspired, I even went to the trouble of fetching some wine from the basement.

I placed those delicate sweet wine bottles inside one by one.

The mint-green liqueur resembles the new buds of early spring, while the deep purple wine still carries the rich aroma of night dew...

When the cabinet doors are closed, the vibrant colors become blurred, as if looking at flowers in a garden through a layer of morning mist.

Light passes through the glass, flows around the bottle, and occasionally gathers into a bead of light on a certain arc before quietly sliding off.

I reluctantly looked away from the bookshelf, took a shower, changed clothes, and prepared to rest.

I feel great every time I stock up on groceries, but organizing them is both therapeutic and depressing—it's so damn tiring!

On June 4th, I got up in the morning and searched for well-drilling teams in the same city on a short video app. I called and consulted several companies, and finally decided on a well-drilling team from the next county.

Because of my mistake, I stockpiled coal before drilling wells.

If you don't want people nearby to see the coal you've stockpiled, you'll have to choose a well-drilling team from another county.

The fee for a 30-meter depth is 3,000 yuan, which is 100 yuan per meter, much cheaper than I expected.

After agreeing to come and drill the well tomorrow, I don't have any plans for today.

I've been physically exhausted lately, so I'm going to take a good rest for a day.

I lay on the kang (a heated brick bed) and started looking up which planting tutorial books and handicraft books I should buy.

This includes planting, making soaps and skincare products, harvesting various baskets, making dried fruit, and pickling vegetables.

Twenty books were selected, including "The Complete Guide to Planting and Cultivation," "200 Kinds of Kimchi," "Nana's Mom's Natural Soap Research Lab," "Condiment Production Technology and Recipes," "Soy Product Production Technology and Recipes," and "Fruit Wine Brewing."

These 20 books cover all aspects of life, including food, clothing, housing, and transportation; they should be sufficient.

He turned around and embraced novels.

After searching for a long time, I finally found a shop with very cheap secondhand books and good reviews. 80 books for 300 yuan.

I messaged the shop owner privately and asked if it was possible to get 300 books for 1000 yuan. The owner readily agreed.

I told him it was best not to repeat the same books, and he assured me there wouldn't be any problem.

Next, I'm going to stock up on all sorts of notebooks and pens.

Collecting notebooks has been a hobby of mine for many years. When I moved back home, more than 10 of them were sent back with me.

Now I'm going to stock up on even more laptops.

There are just too many good-looking laptops out there, I'm going to buy them all!

I bargained while buying, and the price was quite reasonable. I bought a total of 40 laptops for 600 yuan.

I also picked out some nice-looking black carbon pens, red carbon pens, colored crayons, and markers.

I bought a total of 300 tubes and 4 boxes, which cost 400 yuan.

I suddenly remembered that I didn't buy needles and thread, so I could learn to knit and use it to pass the time when I'm bored.

I bought 10 large sewing kits, containing 100 spools of yarn in various colors. After bargaining, the total cost was 500 yuan.

Then I remembered some other odds and ends.

100 rolls of tape, 500 hair ties, two storage trolleys, 100 hooks, 100 clothes racks, 500 nails, etc.

Due to the large discount for bulk purchases, the total cost was 500 yuan.

Today's online shopping cost a total of 3000.

On June 5th, the drilling team arrived early.

The original well was located to the east of the threshing ground.

The second well was located indoors, in a corner next to the stove in the small west room.

This way, the well won't freeze during extremely cold periods.

After a whole day of thundering and rumbling, the 30-meter well was finally completed.

The total payment was 3600 yuan.

This well is not in use for the time being; it is covered with a heavy wooden plank and will be used again when the other well becomes unusable.

I calculated my recent expenses tonight, including the money I had set aside for pork and beef.

My balance is 186,000 yuan. Because my balance is getting smaller and smaller, I've been spending money more and more frugally lately.

People in the martial world often have no choice but to follow their own path.
