Chapter 152 Iron Egg
A large pot of noodles was poured into a stainless steel tray, and several dogs stuck their mouths into the noodles, unable to lift their heads for a while.
It's quite sunny outside now, so there's no rush to go out and work.
After the dogs finish eating, I plan to formally introduce Tie Dan to them.
Pushing open the door to the east room, I scooped up Tie Dan'er, who was rolling on the floor and gnawing on the sofa leg, and sat down on the sofa, calling for Xiao Di and Xiao Gua to come in.
Four dogs barged in and crowded around the sofa, waiting for my instructions.
These silly dogs stared at my face and wagged their tails, completely ignoring the iron ball in my hand.
Tie Dan'er was also a bit silly; he didn't seem afraid of the dogs at all. He just lay on my hand, tilting his head and staring at them.
I extended the hand holding Tie Dan forward a little, and the dogs finally noticed the little guy.
The third and fourth girls were stunned for a moment, then jumped up and ran around on the ground with their mouths open and tongues wagging, seemingly overjoyed.
Little Melon and Little Earth stood there blankly, not reacting, so I could only try to persuade them with words.
"This is Tiedan'er, and from now on it will be your little sister. You must take good care of it, understand?"
He then pushed the little iron egg forward a bit, hoping that the little ground melon would get used to its smell soon.
These two dogs are among the earliest members of the family, so naturally they should be the first to accept the new member.
Xiao Di finally reacted, staring at Tie Dan'er with bright eyes, tilting its head, seemingly not disliking it.
Just when I was happy that the dogs had accepted Tie Dan smoothly, Xiao Gua did something I couldn't have imagined.
It opened its big mouth and quickly bit the little iron egg into its mouth, even pulling it out of my hand.
Tie Dan had only two tiny hind legs left outside, stretched straight, with his pink little toes all spread apart.
"Hey! Hey! Hey! What are you doing!"
I was so shocked by this action that I felt a chill run down my spine. I quickly shouted to stop him and slapped Xiaogua's head hard.
Little Gua seemed a bit bewildered by my patting, remaining motionless with the iron egg in its mouth.
I quickly pried open the dog's mouth and rescued Tie Dan'er.
Quickly check him over; Little Iron Egg's head and body are wet and covered in Little Melon's saliva, but thankfully he's not injured.
Little Iron Egg stared wide-eyed in utter bewilderment, clearly terrified.
I was both amused and exasperated, and pulled out a tissue to wipe away the stinky drool from Tie Dan'er's body.
"These are family! Do you understand, family?"
I held the iron egg and explained loudly to the little melon, then rubbed the iron egg against my chin, hoping it would understand what I meant.
Little Gua's dog eyes were full of confusion, and his mouth was full of saliva.
Xiao Di suddenly turned around and gave Xiao Gua a bite, seemingly scolding it for almost eating its family.
The third and fourth children also jumped around in dissatisfaction, squatting next to Xiaogua to observe Tiedan, probably also frightened by Xiaogua's confusing behavior just now.
I sighed helplessly. It seems that besides me, Xiaodi is the only sensible person in this family.
I gave Xiao Gua, along with Xiao San and Xiao Si, a long, continuous verbal lesson. After the dogs put on their airplane ears, looking as if they had realized they had done something heinous, I put Tie Dan on the coffee table.
As soon as Little Iron Egg was placed on the coffee table, it used its few little paws, which were still not quite steady on its feet, to climb around on the coffee table.
Just as it climbed to the edge of the coffee table, Xiao Di quickly moved forward and nudged Tie Dan'er inward with its mouth.
She's a quick learner! She's truly my confidante and my own daughter; she's incredibly shrewd.
Little Melon stared at Little Earth with two incredulous dog eyes, not understanding why Little Earth did that.
But the next second, Xiao Gua demonstrated what it means to say, "Even if I don't know why I did it that way, my wife must be right."
Little Melon moved closer to the coffee table and nudged Iron Egg with its big, wet nose.
Tie Dan'er, who was already unsteady on his feet, was flipped over by Xiao Gua and struggled to turn over with his four little paws.
This time, Xiao Di was really angry. It barked at Xiao Gua. It's no wonder Xiao Di has a bad temper; I even wanted to kick it out.
Alright, alright, let's call it a day for today's familiarization session.
They kicked Xiao Gua, Xiao San, and Xiao Si out of the east room, leaving only Xiao Di and Tie Dan. As long as Tie Dan and Xiao Di got along well, it would be considered to have integrated into the family.
I tentatively placed the iron egg on the ground, and it naturally crawled towards the small area.
Xiao Di didn't move, looking down at Tie Dan'er until Tie Dan'er crawled under its belly and arched its little head to find milk.
Xiao Di gently lowered her head, lightly licked Tie Dan'er's back a few times, and then looked up at me.
I smiled, patted Little Earth's head, and kissed its forehead: "Well done, Little Earth."
With Xiaodi taking care of Tiedan, I can work with peace of mind from now on.
However, this little guy is still too small now; he can be placed in the small area when he's a bit older.
The three dogs were indignant that only Little Earth could stay inside the house, and Little Melon even scratched at the door with its paws from outside.
But the three of us, mother and children, couldn't be bothered with him. I sat on the sofa with my crossbow tucked in, while Xiao Di and Tie Dan'er snuggled together and fell asleep.
In the afternoon, when the sun wasn't so strong, I should go to work in the fields.
I took out some goat milk from the refrigerator, fed it to Tiedan'er, and then locked it in the room alone.
After a quick meal, I took my four dogs to work on the mountain.
Now that leafy greens like garland chrysanthemum and lettuce are ready to be harvested, three large baskets are placed on a cart, and it's being taken to the vegetable field.
Pick all the leafy greens, cut off the roots with scissors, and then neatly arrange them in a basket.
After harvesting all the leafy greens today, we can plant a new batch tomorrow morning.
The three large baskets were completely full, and there were still half of the leafy greens in the vegetable garden that hadn't been harvested yet.
Seeing that it was getting dark, I first opened the fence gate to let the chickens and ducks go back to their pen, then put them back in their place. I took the large pile of leafy greens back, grabbed a flashlight, and then pulled up the rest.
Actually, there's no rush to harvest vegetables; it doesn't matter if you harvest for one day or two. It's just that once you start, you want to finish it all at once.
After working late into the night, we finally finished harvesting all the leafy greens.
The temperature dropped a bit in the evening, and it was quite cool outside, so we covered all the vegetables with a layer of plastic film.
This summer isn't as hot as last year. With all the bedroom windows open, the cool outdoor air gradually seeps into the room.
Taking a warm bath in the bathroom, lying on the heated kang bed, feeling the slight coolness of the outdoor air, and listening to the chirping of crickets, it felt like going back to my childhood.
I remember when I was little, my grandma would fan me and coax me to sleep, and I would gradually fall asleep.
I've been sleeping well lately, and I wake up feeling refreshed.
We should plant some vegetables while the weather is still cool, and then process them once the temperature rises.
