Chapter 169 Cat Tree

Chapter 169 Cat Tree

Taking advantage of the cool evening weather, instead of watering the fields today, I picked up a chainsaw and went up the mountain to select trees.

As Tiedan grew older, he became more and more lively, spending his days either biting the dogs or climbing up and down trees.

If we can't go out in winter, it has nowhere to release its energy, and I'm really afraid it will chew up my curtains and sofa.

Before the autumn harvest, it's time to make a cat tree for this little guy.

After searching through the woods for a while with a saw, I spotted a withered fruit tree about the size of a bowl with many thick branches.

They sawed the tree down at ground level, carried it home, and carried it with them.

The tree I carried home was placed in the yard. I used a chainsaw to cut off all the small branches except for the three main branches. The tops of the thick branches were also cut off. The trunk after cutting was about the same height as me.

The bark was manually peeled off, and then a polishing machine was used to polish the entire tree smooth.

These two tasks alone kept us working until dark. I was thinking of taking a break, but the next step was to apply wood varnish to the trees, and after that, we had to wait for a while.

So, despite being sleepy, I finished applying the lacquer to the wood that night and let it dry overnight so I could continue making things the next day.

After waking up on the second day, I finished my daily chores and continued making the cat tree.

The tree trunk was left to dry overnight, and the wood varnish on it has dried, making the whole tree feel very smooth to the touch.

Find an old plastic bucket, pour sand and cement into it, then add water and stir it into mud. Plant the polished tree trunk in the mud.

Secure the tree trunk to prevent it from falling over, and leave it in the yard to allow the cement to harden completely.

While waiting for the cement, you can make various accessories for the cat tree.

Go to the west wing and get a one-square-meter wooden board.

First, draw four circles of different sizes on the wooden board with a pencil, and then use an electric saw to cut out the circles according to the curve of the pencil.

The two largest circles were hollowed out from the middle with an electric saw, and cut into two rings.

Obtain four small circles and two large circles, which are also sanded smooth, coated with wood varnish, and left to dry.

I took a sickle to the willow tree at the bottom of the slope and cut a bunch of willow branches. I plucked the leaves to feed the rabbits. By then, the temperature had risen, so I carried the willow branches to the dark room.

Move everything off the heated kang (a traditional heated brick bed) and carry the willow branches to the bare kang.

A plate of watermelon was placed on the kang table to the right, and the TV series that hadn't been finished was playing. He started weaving a cat bed while watching the show.

The cat's nest is shaped similarly to a hen's egg-laying nest, and is a semi-circular wicker basket.

The size of the wicker basket is determined by the circle in the yard where the wicker baskets are used for drying clothes, ensuring that the basket fits snugly on the circle and doesn't fall off.

While watching TV series, I leisurely wove a basket.

The sun had set when the two cat beds were finally finished, and the wood coated with lacquer had dried completely.

I took two baskets to the yard, put them in the circle to test them, and they were the perfect size.

I don't know if the cement in the bucket has completely solidified yet. That's all for today's production process. I'll wait for the cement to solidify overnight before demolding.

I've been busy making a cat tree these past few days and haven't had a proper chance to go out for a walk.

It's cool in the evening now, much more comfortable than the nights of the past few days. Since it's not dark yet, I'll take a stroll around the neighborhood.

Looking up at the wild rose bush on the mountain, which was blooming even more profusely, I walked straight to it, plucked all the blooming petals, and put them into the plastic bag I was carrying.

After arriving home, I washed the rose petals in water, put some of them in the yard to dry, and prepared the rest to make rose skin care water.

Rose petals contain anthocyanins that can make the skin whiter and smoother, while licorice and vitamin E both have good moisturizing properties.

Combining these three ingredients and applying a small amount after showering each night can help soften and moisturize the skin.

Boil wild rose petals and licorice together in a pot for ten minutes, then simmer for three minutes. Filter out the petals from the boiled water and set aside.

Crush vitamin E into powder and dissolve it in the boiled rose water.

Stir well and pour into an empty skincare bottle. Since there are no preservatives, store it in the refrigerator's crisper drawer and take it out when you need it.

I couldn't wait to try my newly made rose water, so I locked the door and went straight to the bathroom to take a shower.

After coming out of the bathroom, I washed away the stickiness and sweat, feeling completely relaxed. I took out some rose water from the refrigerator and sprayed it on my face. I don't know if it was just psychological, but my skin immediately felt smooth and soft.

I had a really long beauty sleep, and when I woke up in the morning, I continued making the cat tree.

Try shaking the tree trunk; the roots are indeed well-bonded in cement.

Use an electric saw to cut open the plastic barrel, exposing the cement inside.

I was reluctant to use the grinder, afraid of damaging the grinding wheel, so I took two sheets of sandpaper, put on a mask, and started grinding the cement.

After the cement is polished smooth, a round wooden board is placed at the bottom.

Following the previously drawn blueprints, we began installing the accessories on the cat tree.

Gradually apply glue to the cement pile and the tree stump connected to it, and wrap the hemp rope around it, one loop after another, to enclose the cement pile and the tree stump.

The kitten prefers to use the tree stump wrapped with hemp rope to sharpen its claws.

After wrapping the tree stump, fix the three round wooden boards and two circles to the different branches of the tree stump with screws.

The extra thick branch was tied tightly with hemp rope, and two hemp ropes were hung down. A willow basket was tied between the two hemp ropes, which could be used as a swing chair for Tiedan.

The final form is that the cat tree base and tree stump are completely covered by hemp rope. There are four branches in total, with three round wooden boards fixed between the branches. A wicker basket is placed on the top, and a swing chair made of wicker basket hangs from one of the branches.

The final step of installing the parts was extremely difficult, not only because of Tie Dan, but also because of the four dogs making things worse.

Before the wicker basket was even secured, Tiedan climbed up and down, convinced that it was its cat bed.

The little melon went even further, biting the newly grown swing chair with its mouth, sticking its butt out and pulling it backward, convinced that it was its toy.

I scolded and hit them to stop them, but I finally finished building the cat tree.

I grabbed the tree stump at the very base, intending to carry the cat tree back inside. I didn't expect the cement base to be so heavy; it took all my strength to get it inside.

Place the cat tree in the east room, not far from the sofa, near the window. When Tie Dan'er sleeps in his wicker basket cat bed, he can also sunbathe.

The four dogs and one cat were very fond of this new thing, especially Xiao Gua and Xiao Si, who pulled and bit the swing chair hard, as if it would break soon.

In order for the cat tree to stay in this home for a long time, I've decided to build a doghouse for the dogs to climb on and off in a while, in order to protect the cat tree from damage.

Ignoring the issue of the dog causing damage, I am still very satisfied with this cat tree that took me several days to make.
