Chapter 229 Reconciliation

Chapter 229 Reconciliation

All the security personnel patrolling the area gathered around and surrounded us and the people from the White Town base.

Sumi's father frowned and asked, "What do you mean by this?"

The deputy base commander slowly backed away, laughing arrogantly: "What do you mean? You're all going to die? Eagle Base doesn't need cowards like you!"

He wanted to leave the crowd and have his men kill everyone there.

Without making a sound, I pulled out my small silver pistol and pressed it directly against his head.

"Don't move, or you'll be the first to die."

The voice was neither fast nor slow, yet it changed his expression.

He should have known that there were people with guns at the White Town base.

Sumi's face lit up with joy at my actions.

The people at the White Town base breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this scene, realizing that I was right there.

Sumi turned to look at her father: "Dad?"

Sumi's father closed his eyes in pain and nodded.

"You, you've got a fake gun, haven't you? If you dare touch me, Eagle Base won't let you get away with it!"

The deputy base commander was so frightened that he stammered and continued to threaten me.

Sumi walked quickly to my side, took my hand in hers, and pulled the trigger.

"Bang!"

A gunshot rang out unexpectedly, and the deputy base commander's eyes widened as he fell straight down.

"Keeping such a despicable person alive for even a second is a waste of air!"

Su Mi's clear voice brought everyone back to their senses.

Sumi's father looked a little sad, but he held it in, after all, there was still a big situation that needed his attention.

I took off my mask, and the old man at the base ran up to me with a big smile, looking me up and down: "Girl, are you alright?"

I smiled and shook my head.

Sumi's father then recognized me: "You are, Chengcheng?"

“It’s me, Uncle Su.”

I responded with a smile.

"You... the person he captured and imprisoned was you!"

Sumi's father was very shocked.

Su Mi turned around and chimed in, "Yeah! Dad, I'm so angry! If I hadn't found out, Chengcheng might have been killed!"

"Uncle is so sorry, Chengcheng!"

Sumi's dad stepped forward and patted me on the shoulder.

The base elder was somewhat surprised: "You...know each other?"

I pulled Sumi aside and introduced her to the base elder: "Sumi is my friend of many years. We grew up together."

The base commander laughed heartily: "So, they're all acquaintances!"

Sumi's father accepted this reassurance: "Since we're all family, why be so confrontational? Come on, you haven't had dinner yet, have some before you leave."

I thought the base commander would refuse, but he actually agreed right away.

The two base commanders walked at the front, followed by a large group of people.

Sumi's father led a large group of people into the conference room, the largest room in the Eagle Base.

It's getting late, and there's no dinner yet; the kitchen is preparing it.

A group of people were sitting in the conference room drinking hot water.

Holding his teacup, Sumi's father said with shame, "I've done a terrible job as the base commander. I really didn't know about all the stupid things he did."

The base commander raised his teacup and clinked it with Sumi's father's: "It's all in the past. From now on, let's live in peace and have friendly exchanges!"

“My daughter has known Chengcheng for many years. I know her character well. Since Baizhen Base and Chengcheng have a good relationship, Baizhen Base must be good too. In the future, our two bases will help each other and I hope we can be like family.”

Sumi's father spoke from the bottom of his heart.

The base commander continued, echoing Sumi's father's words, "Yes, what kind of conflict could there be between us? Fighting only makes the people suffer. Let's focus on development in the future and prevent this painful natural disaster from harming people again."

The two men sighed with emotion, while the people from Baizhen Base and the managers from Xiong Ying Base sat in other seats listening, nodding frequently.

Enough with the pleasantries, and a friendly cooperation agreement has been reached.

At this moment, the steaming hot meal was served.

The meal wasn't very lavish; each person had a bowl of buckwheat noodles with pickled cabbage sauce, and each person also had a pickled chili pepper in their bowl.

The weather was already cold, and both the people at the Eagle Base and the people at the Straight Base stood in the cold wind for a long time.

The steaming noodles, with their original buckwheat aroma, are incredibly appetizing.

Especially me, I only ate snacks at Sumi's place, and didn't eat anything hot all day.

No one stood on ceremony and started slurping their noodles.

This is absolutely the best buckwheat noodles I've ever had.

The buckwheat has a strong aroma, the noodles are chewy, the pickled cabbage is tangy and crisp, and a bite of the pickled chili peppers makes it even more delicious.

After the meal, the base commander and Sumi's father chatted for a while longer.

They seemed to have a kindred spirit who wished they had met sooner, which was a good thing. If their relationship was good, the relationship between the two bases wouldn't be bad either.

I pulled Sumi aside and introduced her to Taozi and Brother Liu.

"This is my best friend since childhood. I never thought we would meet again after so many years. Her name is Su Mi."

Brother Liu greeted Su Mi in a very casual manner: "Hello, hello. You must be a good person to be friends with a girl like me. If you need anything, just tell Brother Liu. I'll come over to help you no matter how far away it is!"

Hearing Brother Liu say that, I laughed and said, "Haha, you really have to believe me. Brother Liu drives a long way every day to help me feed the pigs."

Su Mi has shed her youthful naiveté and innocence, gaining more straightforwardness and maturity. She took the initiative to shake hands with Brother Liu: "Haha, it's an honor to meet you, Brother Liu."

"This guy is Taozi. We've known each other for a few years now. He's a nice guy."

Taozi was very polite, but not as talkative as Brother Liu: "Hello, hello."

Sumi smiled and nodded, which meant they had met.

It was so late that I was so sleepy I could barely keep my eyes open.

We had to urge the base chief to return to the Baizhen base.

Sumi was reluctant to let me leave: "Chengcheng, it's been so long since we last saw each other, won't you stay with me for one night? Have our feelings faded?"

I squeezed Su Mi's arm; it wasn't as soft as before, and I could feel some firm flesh. I said, "How could I not miss you? I'm so happy to see you. But I have a lot of things to do at home, so I have to go back. Why don't you come visit me in a while?"

With just one sentence, Su Mi was appeased. She smiled and said, "Then after I've dealt with the mess at the base, I'll come to the White Town base to visit you."

Oh right, I forgot about that.

"Hmm... I don't live at the White Town base. I'll come find you then and take you to my house."

Sumi was somewhat surprised: "Huh? You don't live at the White Town base, how did you get involved in this?"

"Haha, it's a long story, a long story."

Sumi hugged me reluctantly: "Then tell me next time."

After saying goodbye to Sumi, the people from the White Town base finally left the Eagle Base.

This incredible trip was like a dream for the people at Whitetown Base.

They came here expecting to fight tooth and nail, but ended up eating and drinking their fill before heading back.
