Chapter 243 The New Neighbor

Chapter 243 The New Neighbor

The weather is getting colder, but it's still warm at midday.

Seeing that the weather was nice, I took a shovel, led the sheep, and took the cats and dogs up the hillside.

I picked a patch of soft soil on a hillside not far from my home and started digging.

The sun shone directly on the hillside, warming my back, and the act of digging made my forehead break out in a thin layer of sweat.

It didn't take long; a piece of land was leveled in just over 20 minutes.

Tents were pitched on the hillside, and stone stoves were piled up outside.

Light the stone stove, place a stainless steel basin on top, and boil some water in the basin.

I sat on a stone bench, holding binoculars and gazing into the distance.

The sunlight was gentle, and it felt warm and comfortable on my skin.

A few sheep were grazing on the side of the hillside, a few dogs were competing to dig holes on a newly dug platform, and Tiedan also found a small hole to roll around and sleep in.

How comfortable! I hope this winter will be mild so I can come here from time to time to soak up the sun and have a picnic.

The telescope could only see forests, and occasionally one could spot wild rabbits or deer running and leaping through the woods.

The ecological environment is getting better and better; even deer have appeared.

My back started to ache from sitting for so long, so I stood up and stretched, then continued to look into the distance through the binoculars.

Suddenly, I seemed to see faint, moving figures.

Okay, I frowned and began to observe carefully through the binoculars.

The figure was about three or four kilometers away from me, heading in the direction of the town.

There used to be an old house there; I even went there to search for things before.

Four people ripped off the roof of the old house, and it was impossible to see what materials they were using to reinforce it.

It seems someone wants to live there.

I feel really uncomfortable. I'm living a perfectly fine life on my own, so why would someone want to buy a house near me?

I don't know if this new neighbor is good or bad.

I stood there and observed for a while longer, but I really felt that I couldn't make any changes, so I simply put down the binoculars and sat down on the stone bench in frustration.

The newly made stone stove works very well, and the water in the iron basin has already boiled.

I took a small packet of tea leaves from my backpack, pinched off a little, and poured it into a porcelain jar.

Using my sleeve as a pad, I took down the iron basin and slowly poured boiling water into the porcelain jar. The hot water touched the tea leaves and gradually turned them a pale green.

I gently blew on it and took a sip; it tasted quite good.

After drinking enough tea, I found a smooth stone slab from the pile of stones, washed it clean with the remaining water in the iron basin, and placed it on the stone stove.

Once the stone slab gets hot, rub a piece of fatty meat on it first.

The fatty meat sizzled as it touched the hot iron plate, releasing its oily grease.

Once the stone slab is completely coated with grease, slowly lay the other sliced meat on top.

The sizzling meat slices released a burst of oily smoke that dissipated into the natural world.

At home, you have to worry about cooking fumes, but when you're having a barbecue outdoors, there's absolutely no burden.

The smell of cooking oil attracted the dog digging a hole and the sleeping iron egg.

But it was too hot near the stone furnace, so no one dared to touch it.

The meat slices fried on the stone slab smelled delicious. When they looked almost cooked, I blew on them and took a bite. They were incredibly fragrant.

I wasn't actually that hungry. I had just eaten breakfast not long ago. I ate two pieces to satisfy my craving, and left the rest to feed the dog.

While eating, I pondered whether the aroma could travel three or four kilometers away.

Before heading home after basking in the sun, I picked up the binoculars again and looked at the spot I had just been.

The little figures were still tidying up the courtyard; it seemed they really intended to live there.

Forget it, we'll deal with whatever comes our way. No rush.

After packing his things and going home, he carefully closed the gate and took out a pistol from the cabinet and tucked it into his pocket.

I've had a relatively peaceful life these past few years, and in fact, it's been quite a while since I've carried a pistol with me.

However, since there's a high chance of having more neighbors in the future, it's safer to carry a handgun.

After basking in the sun, I feel full of energy.

I picked up the earthenware jar used for brewing vinegar in the kitchen, shook it from side to side, and then lifted the lid to let some air out.

I hope that I can enjoy the fragrant vinegar I made myself soon.

I was almost full from the barbecue I had on the mountain in the morning, but I didn't eat any staple food. I just had some rice porridge with some pickled vegetables and that was my simple lunch.

Perhaps because I haven't done much work today, I'm not sleepy yet. I went to the basement, picked out a piece of soft fabric, and put it on the sewing machine table.

Cut the fabric out according to the shape of the sanitary napkin, making sure the left and right wings are longer.

The first piece of fabric is the base; continue cutting five more layers according to the shape of the first piece of fabric.

The three pieces of fabric were carefully sewn together with a sewing machine. The remaining two pieces were cut in the middle, and these two pieces were sewn together first, and then sewn together with the previous pieces of fabric.

You can stuff cotton, wood ash, or willow bark into the space between the two open pieces of fabric, and then throw it away after use for easier cleaning.

Snap fasteners are attached to both the left and right wings. When in use, simply press the snap fasteners to secure it firmly.

Looking at the first finished product, the sanitary napkin was soft and felt thick in my hand. It also had a pretty pattern printed on it. I was looking forward to seeing how it would perform.

I made five pieces in one go, and I can switch them back and forth in case of emergency.

It sounds simple, but by the time I finished making all five sanitary napkins, it was already dark.

Pour water into a stainless steel basin, place it on the stove, and soak the prepared sanitary napkins in alcohol first.

Once the water in the basin boils, put all 5 sanitary napkins in the water and boil for 10 minutes. Then take them out, wring them out, and let them air dry.

It's reassuring to use it after cleaning and disinfection.

I tapped my stiff back and went to the bathroom to take a hot shower.

After taking a shower, my pores opened up, and I felt completely relaxed.

I sat at the counter, picked up the goat milk I had made myself, and applied a thick layer to my face.

Several years of farming life have made my hands a bit rough.

I don't care about having delicate fingers anymore; I just want them to stay soft and not crack from the cold in winter.

After applying it to my cheeks, I put the remaining part on my hands and rubbed it in carefully a few times.

Tie Dan sat on the table, smelling the aroma of goat fat. He jumped up and down excitedly, thinking it was something delicious.

"This is not something you can eat."

I pushed Tiedan a little further away, and it drooped its eyes in dissatisfaction, clearly unhappy.

Who says animals don't have their own expressions? Tie Dan's expressions are incredibly vivid, completely conveying joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness on his face.

I'm a doting parent, so I had to pick up the cat truck and laboriously climb onto the kang (heated brick bed).

Tie Dan is really too fat now; it's quite heavy to hold.

He patted Tie Dan's little head and said in a low voice, "You're not young anymore, and you're so fat now, you can't be greedy for food."

Looking at its round, bulging belly, I'm really worried it might affect its health.
